My husband and I recently moved to a town home in Northeast Minneapolis and were eager to create a beautiful urban garden in the front of our home. Thanks to Field Outdoor Spaces we got exactly what we wanted. I worked with Carolyn Johnson who listened carefully and worked within my budget. A large slab of cement was removed and a gorgeous perennial garden was installed. The walkway up to our front door was redesigned to match the beauty of the garden, complete with brick, flagstone and steppingstones. Each year, Field Outdoor Spaces also installs our spring and winter pots, creating combination of plants that are lovely and unique. This spring, we are adding window boxes filled with annuals to enhance our back balcony. I’m confident that these new additions will reflect the care and high quality work that Field Outdoor Spaces always provides.

Just did a fairly large project with Field and we are VERY happy. They completely wiped out the back yard adjacent to our house and started over with brick pathway, patio screening fence and stairs into our porch. All new plants, trees, and sod. Also did some work to the front yard as well (regrade and new sod, plantings against house). They were an absolute pleasure to deal with, both during planing and the crew that did the work. On top of that, their pricing was significantly more affordable than another well-regarded local shop. Would absolutely recommend and use again.

We actually came across Field Outdoor Spaces in an interesting way .... while working with our landscape architect to design our new backyard, we searched pictures on Houzz for ideas. Our favorite was a custom rock wall picture we shared with our architect just to show what we were looking for - unknowingly that wall was done by Field Outdoor Spaces which just happened to be a neighbor to our architect. Long story short, we hired Field and they partnered seamlessly to deliver a beautifully redone, private "phase 1" of our backyard that met both our budget and project goals.

Beyond just delivering on plan, they worked with us to refine and improve it! They were also professional and followed the project plan / timing they laid out perfectly - very uncommon in our experiences. We definitely recommend them and we will be using them as we move on to other phases of our project.

Our experience with Field Outdoor Spaces was 5-Star in every respect. We contracted them to repair and enhance the work we had done by another landscape company about five years ago. The designer listened carefully to make sure their plan matched what we envisioned, and she made good suggestions to resolve issues we had been having with the original design. Every person we dealt with from the designer to the installers was professional, helpful, knowledgeable and easy to work with. The work was done in the time frame quoted, and the cost was clearly communicated. The project was completed this past spring, and this week we received a follow-up email to remind us about fall cleanup and winter prep specific to our plantings and water feature. We are planning to rework our front yard landscaping next year, and there is no doubt we will use Field Outdoor Spaces for the project. Steph and Stu

This company is great. Super responsive and great communicators. I had no less than a million questions and they answered every single one. They masterly installed boulders, a cool rock wall, and designed several garden bed plans. They really know their plants and what will work best in this environment/climate. Their guiding principle is to pack in the plants tightly to minimize weeds. It has been over a year now since we installed plants from their first design, and I must say that this has worked very, very well. It also looks fantastic. I can't recommend them enough!

Fields did a small front and bigger backyard landscape job for us that included some carpentry work. We agreed to the design not realizing that the majority of the items planted are plants that rabbits would eat. As a result, we haven't been able to enjoy much of what was planted due to them eating everything even with using products to keep them away. We wish we'd known so that we could make other choices. The carpenter moved our stairs but when they were reinstalled there was a gap between the deck and the stairs. No one came out to inspect the final project so we notified them of this problem. They came out and installed a board over the gap- not a great solution. We've had no follow up since then.

We hired Field Outdoor Spaces to put our yard back in order after a construction project. We had a great experience. We sat down and had conversations about what we wanted. Jason then took those ideas and brought back a great design. What we loved is we made some of the decisions we wanted to make and he made the rest for us. We did not have specific plants and trees identified. They did it all for us. Lastly what surprised us was that they took many of our other perennials and moved them around creating a whole new experience. I would definitely recommend them and will work with them in the future.

Field listened to all the issues with my property and came up with a plan to fix it all for the long-term. My property is now free of icy sidewalks, poor drainage, and weedy boulevards. Field accomplished this within a week with professionalism and an affordable budget. We're now proud of our corner on the street.

Contacted Field because we've been getting leaking into our basement during heavy rain. Jason came out to take a look and immediately identified that the issue is likely to do with our gutter system, which made sense right away.

Rather than try to sell us services we didn't need, he was honest and very generous with his time. I am immensely grateful and Field will be the first people we contact going forward for any landscaping needs. Thank you!

Field did a design/build of our front entry after a significant exterior remodel and their work made the entire space look fully integrated and natural. When we decided to build a new structure in our backyard we actually started conceptualizing with Field first to ensure whatever we built had a connected, earthy feel. They did both hardscape and plantscape and it all looks fantastic. Highly recommend!

We moved back into my childhood home a year ago. The front yard was a combination of unsightly vines and weeds. Our front stoop was slowly deteriorating. The renovation of the front yard has been transformational. It is simply gorgeous. I can’t wait to get up every day and just walk outside and take it all in. I am in awe of the artistry of the crew that pieced together the flagstone patio. The plants themselves are larger than I expected and the overall pattern is stunning. When we sit out front, I have exactly the feeling I was hoping for. Comfortable, relaxed, and open to our neighbors and simple joy and pride. The whole process with Field was a pleasure. Communication was excellent and unexpected hurdles were navigated smoothly.

Can't say enough great things about our project with Uplift by Field. We had maybe the world's worst basement bathroom/laundry room, and really had no idea how it could be made better. Our team from Field/Uplift was amazing - quick to respond to get the consultation in, kept budget in mind, but ALWAYS looking to make the project the best it could be. The results are beyond our wildest dreams for the space, definitely added more value than it cost, and the communication, coordination with subcontractors, consideration of our use of the space, it all was better than expected. We had such a good experience we immediately hired them to re-do our backyard which is next! Can't wait.

This was probably the best experience I’ve ever had with a contractor. We hired them to do two jobs - one was a basement remodel and the other was a complete overhaul of our backyard and patio. In both cases, we had fantastic customer service and the outcomes were even better than we expected. I really appreciated the daily communication and updates - either face to face or by email, and felt heard throughout the whole process. They left things neat at the end of each day, were transparent and accurate with estimating timelines, and very friendly to work with.

After a few years, their installation started breaking down and is falling apart. We rebuilt one fixture which is still ok. Filled out their online form to request a consultation/repair/redesign session.We got a request for pics of the failing installation and emailed them, waited a week +. They replied with an email including their carpentry lead, but still no response a week later. Called their number, got a message to fill out their online form. Hmmmm lack of communication/handoff communication in this shop is failing as bad as the product they built and installed. After two additional weeks, an estimator finally called back and once the estimate was made, the project moved forward on their forecasted timeline. The crews workmanship is much improved over their original installation.

Such an amazing team! Super flexible and great about communicating. We love the result. It was the same price as a deck but the patio and large granite stones and the patio are so much more amazing.

We’ve worked with a number of contractors over the years but our experience with Field has easily been the best. The Field team brings together the rare combination of technical expertise with all the details of communication and care that set them apart. With Field, we started 3 years ago with a full landscape design and took on the backyard installation at that time. We followed through this year with installation of the front yard landscaping. The design work has something different blooming at all different times of the year and it truly feels like an outdoor space way above and beyond what it would be if we had tried our hand at DIY landscaping. They heard out our desires and wish list during consultation and turned it into something even better than we could have imagined. Communication during the installation kept us clued in to every status update in a way you don’t get from other contractors. Lastly - we’re not left high and dry on long term maintenance and care know-how as the team provides great resources that we regularly reference and follow through with to keep the projects looking better every year as they grow. We truly can’t recommend them enough.

I first contacted Uplift by Field in June 2024 to get an idea of what it would cost to finish our basement. I had no idea where to begin and Uplift by Field was the first place we contacted. They quickly put me in touch with Joey who came out to look at my basement and take some measurements. We got a quote, contacted a couple other companies, and then wound up going with Field for our remodel. We wanted to work with a local business with a good reputation, but needed it to be someone who understood what we wanted and of course, the right price. I’m happy to report Field knocked it out of the park on every single level. Not only are we thrilled with the work, we have referred multiple people to them since starting this project. After we signed our contract, we got a questionnaire from Joey for the lead installer, Rick, to work off of. That questionnaire helped us clarify things like would they use a bathroom here or bring one in? Where would a dumpster go if one was needed? Would we communicate by email, call, text, or in person? That put my mind at ease quite a bit because I work from home and just didn’t know what to expect with having a crew here every day. We picked a date early in December for starting the project with an estimated completion date in early February. Throughout the time the crew was in our house, they were tidy, respectful of our space and time, on time, and efficient. We had selected emails for project updates but ended up talking quite a lot of things out in person. Rick and his crew did an amazing job presenting challenges they came across and talking out the benefits of each option we had to deal with whatever challenge came up. I never felt like I was making a decision without enough information. I always felt very empowered to decide things based on the information I was given by the crew. We also were always clear on what the timeline was and what steps were coming up so we could make time for plumbers or electricians to come in. (Speaking of that, the plumbers electricians, and everyone else they brought in to work on our home were also incredibly respectful and kind.)

Overall, I was so unsure about who to hire to finish our basement and so overwhelmingly happy I went with Field. You know you have chosen a good crew when your dog loves them too, and Rick and Joey and everyone that came in made time to give my very needy dog belly rubs every time they came in and out. They also didn’t seem bothered by my son occasionally wanting to do show-and-tell at 730 in the morning when they arrived! I really can’t say good enough things about Field—if you’re unsure about starting a project, just get a consultation with them, you won’t regret it.
