Shoddy, sloppy service. Actually trying to mow now after thunderstorm & before the next one arrives in 5 minutes. Who in their right mind would try and mow wet ground with a personal lawnmower let alone a commercial one?? If I was able, I’d do my own. They are more concerned with making money than providing excellent customer service. They promise everything and barely deliver on anything. They weed whack down to the ground and weeds grow up in place of grass. Winter service is just as bad or worse. I don’t know why our HOA & management company continue to contract with them - Schwader’s is ruining our lawns!!

This Company really goes above and beyond its really impressive there attention to detail.
The guy that plows will get out of his tractor and move the trash cans plow and move them back. That's wonderful.
In the spring they start-up my irrigation check for leaks and make any needed adjustments.
Shwaders even added a zone of dripline in my garden. In the fall they winterize it.
Before it snows about 10 guys show up with backpack blowers and blow all the leafs in my yard into the street and suck them up with a big machine. All in about 15 minutes.
When their mowing my yard they will get off their mowers just a pick up sticks they work as a team very efficient. keep up the good work guys!

For the second year in a row, Shwaders has neglected our HOA contract for setting up snow stakes on everyone's property. They made a weak excuse saying they didn't think they were permitted on our property because we mow our lawn in the summer. They are not comfortable with boundaries set by homeowners. Company owner, Wade Vriez, has been punitive towards a home owner who did not want heavy machinery tearing up the yard or putting fertilizer on ground that is already high in phosphorus. We are not impressed with his company nor his communication skills. He is very difficult to work with. Sadly, this is our second 1 star review of the company.

Paid for seasonal snow removal for ‘25-26 season. Had our first snow event and I am blown away by these guys. They send frequent text updates about if and exactly when they will be out plowing. Did not expect that as my previous experience before moving here was absolutely no communication and just not showing up after our only blizzard that year. Not only did they do a perfect job (in the middle of the night) but they came back a second time that day to clear the big ridge from the snowplow. I had also done a lot of shoveling of sidewalks and other areas and much of that was thrown on the driveway which they took care of when they came back. I honestly didn’t expect them to replow the whole driveway since most of that snow came from me but they just did it. I was nervous about paying for service again after a previous bad experience at my last home but I can say that you guys have me as a customer as long as I live within your service area. Thank you for going above and beyond. Your communication alone shows you understand the impact of your service on your customers.

I am, and have been for the last 5 years or so, very impressed by their level of professionalism and true care they have for their customers. Derek has been wonderful to work with. He has educated me not only on lawn care and snow removal, but what it takes to run a business.

The snow blowing portion of their business is just wonderful. They can plow my driveway in about 7 mins and it takes me about 1.5 hours! They also will come back and do ridges if the city hasn't plowed first! That is excellent service! It is truly the best money I spend in the winter here in Minnesota.

I highly recommend Shwaders if you are looking for lawn care and snow removal. You will not be disappointed!

Short story:

End result work was fine, but communication was not good. Not really what we expected for a premium price. Easy going, but maybe a little too much so. Overall, things didn't seem to be handled in the most professional way either.

Long story:

We wanted to support a small, local business and they seemed to be a reputable company.

We worked mostly with Viktoria and Andrew for this project.

We had a lot of trouble with communication throughout the whole process. Took several days to connect to simply discuss the project in the first place.

Once we had a date set, we got an email the week before telling us (rather than asking) that it would instead be the following week.

Once the project began, there was a lot of detail that we hoped to communicate during the process (I.e. pictures of the pathway plan on the day the project started) prior to cutting into the dirt and was promised pictures along the way. However, we came home to the pathway cut without any heads up. It was ultimately not exactly what we had in mind, but looked fine so we let it ride.

The project itself was estimated to take 2-3 days, but ultimately took 12 days before they were done.

At one point, I received a phone call from Viktoria at 12:37 AM. Turned out to be a drunk butt dial, but certainly not the most professional look there...

The projected ended with me getting an email invoice and zero communication for 4 days after that. No response to my text to Andrew or call/email to Viktoria. I had to get in touch with another member of the team in order to just hear back which was very odd.

I finally got a response after another employee contacted them. However, I had another follow up question that I responded with and was promptly ignored again. Still no response to date...

I gave up at that point.

Not the type of communication or professionalism one would hope for when spending thousands of dollars for a big project. One of the biggest reasons we won't seek them out for any future work or recommend them to others, which is really unfortunate.

Moondog was the absolute best to work with. They are so knowledgeable. Their designs are fabulous and they were great with collaborating to make sure the design fit our lifestyle/needs.

Andrew and his crew built a beautiful backyard patio at my house in south Minneapolis that has been a game changer for me. He created an entirely new space to entertain and chill with my friends and family. Moon Dog was extremely affordable and timely and delivered on his word and that is a rare thing in the trades these days. So, does that make Moon Dog a unicorn? Anyways, great work done by a great crew.

We worked with Moon Dog Landscaping to rethink our backyard, and they were amazing partners in creating a backyard haven for us. They created a beautiful design and were collaborative partners when we had feedback.

Andy and his crew were super easy and fun to work with. Their creativity and vision are unmatched. Most importantly, they enjoy doing it. We can finally take pride in our yard and we can be proud it was done right. You won’t find a better landscaping company than Moon Dog.

Highly recommended! We had a lot of ideas and the they did a great job reflecting them in their design, and shared our enthusiasm for native plants and creating habitat. The crew did excellent work. Great experience overall.

We hired Moon Dog for two landscaping projects and both turned out beautifully. The first project was restoration of our patio and the backyard landscaping. They recommended an intriguing variety of trees and bushes that added beauty and enhanced privacy. We loved it so much that we had them back to reconfigure the landscaping in front of our house. Their thoughtful design and plant recommendations better aligned with our mid-century brick rambler. Communication and work ethic were superb...and the bonus? The price was nice too.

Mariano and his team were fantastic. We had them help us pick up some landscaping boulders and place them in our backyard. Mariano was really communicative, from scheduling to asking for input on where we wanted each boulder. He moved a really heavy boulder around with an amazing amount of skill! The whole team was a pleasure to work with. We will absolutely work with them again.
