Great company and people. I’ve hired them for 6 or more projects and they always deliver!
-
Grindstone is amazing! Said what they will do and did what they said. Great, honest team led by Jared.

Dillon was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I love that the storm shelters are made in America by American workers. I am in the process of building a new home. Once it is finished I plan on getting a shelter installed.

HORRIBLE SERVICE FOR FLOORING MEASUREMENTS-Lowe's was more expensive for carpet, but considering going with them based solely off of this experience. Scheduled for my house to be measured for flooring, and was informed by the central administration office that they would be there between 1:30 and 3:30 in the afternoon. I never received a call from the "measuring team" myself and did not have their contact information, but because no one called to confirm with them, they decided to cancel the measure at 1:30. Even after cancelling, I still did not receive a call except from the central administration office to let me know. I called back and asked for the number of the measuring team, and they said it was not their policy to give it out. Upon complaining, the measuring team stated they had tried to reach me and left messages, which they absolutely did not, and cancelled after I failed to call back. EXTREMELY frustrated, as I took time out of my day to be home during these hours, and paid $35 for them to measure (even though it has already been measured in the last month by a competitor-they couldn't accept that).

Called asking about wood cutting services so my wife can fit wood inside her car for her project instead of driving an hour with our pickup. I asked 'Do you provide wood cutting in store and if you do how much is it a cut'.
The person who 'answered' my question said yes, but they only like to do a couple of cuts and then dodged my question on how much it is a cut.
The worker sounded disgusted that I would even ask about it so I told my wife to go to lowes down the road instead. -
I've built a house, a shop, and a barn using mostly Home Depot materials. I shop around and I always come back to Home Depot's low prices and knowledgeable staff. I've spent roughly $50,000 over an eight-year period at the Springfield store and I rely on them to not only have high-quality products, but to have products that I can't find locally (I live 60 miles away). I would say it's fair to report that occasionally I am frustrated, but it usually boils down to HD's suppliers or subcontractors. Having been in a service organization for many years, I know that the staff are not machines -- like all human beings, they have feelings. If the customer comes on like a pit bulldog, it's only human nature to be inwardly upset while trying to maintain an outwardly calm and professional demeanor. Overall, they rate an excellent.

I bought kitchen cabinet tops and was pleased with the final results of how they look but had to go with the 2mm rather than the 3 mm I paid for. Also had to go with the free edge rather than the one I paid $1080.00 for. Solid surface held back money in case they had to cut our cabinet tops for shims. They did not have to do anything because our cabinets were "The most level cabinets I have seen" after being measured with their laser machine. We told them we would remove the Formica and haul away. They lied and put in their report that they did it. I told Nicki at home depot I could bring the Formica to her that we did it ourself and they did not have to cut. Of course she didn't want it. I have only gotten back $760.50 off the money I paid on a double agee edge I didn't get and none for the difference in thickness. This has been a polite fight (on my past only) trying to settle it with several phone calls to both Home Depo and the installed Solid Surface people.

Buying carpet and vinyl for my small 1,000 square feet home has been the worst consumer experience I have ever had. This is due to the lack of communication and incompetence by Home Depot staff once my order reached the measurement phase. After my home was measured, a completely different home was added into my homes floor plan, skyrocketing the quote to $7,000 from the original $2,800 we were told in store.
Knowing something had catastrophically been screwed up, my wife called into Home Depot customer service. The nightmare started at this time. My wife and I were called in, trying to fix our floor plan multiple times for the next three days. We were told the floor plan was fixed at the end of each call, just to receive an email later with a slight updated, but very incorrect floor plan.
We would call back and be forced to speak with a completely different person with no knowledge of original problem, therefore making it extremely difficult to solve said problem. This issue also forced us to re-explain our problem approximately 6 times as we spoke to 6 different people when calling back. As you can tell by this review, this was extremely frustrating.
The only reason this review received two stars, is the excellent customer service given my Kirk Stafford while in the store during our original visit. The help and expertise he provided is second to none. -
I had my doors measured on 12/12/2016, which included a storm door and sliding patio door. They were installed with no problems. I ordered 13 doors on 04/07/2017, should have been an easy transaction. Dan was short with me when I ordered and said only 10 doors were measured and I assured him that 13 were measured. I was there almost 2 hours ordering. He did not explain that they would not take their trash, boxes, wood pieces, and Styrofoam. Hindsight, I was not very happy that day and should have walked away. I went in to check on the doors and Gary just sat at the counter on Facebook and ended up not knowing how to help me.
04/07/2017 Ordered
05/24/2017 10 out of 13 doors installed
07/06/2017 0 out of 3 due to damaged
08/09/2017 2 out of 3 doors installed, due to 3rd door being cut the wrong size...have to wait 3 to 4 more weeks
They are not painted brilliant white, which I paid for and now have to pay someone else to correct this. I am so disappointed with Home Depot! My husband and family have spent a lot of money with you over the years. I have taken this to social media and a lot of readers are as pissed as I am! They are suggesting you take the doors back and a full refund or give half the total back for compensation and to pay to have the doors painted. -
Overall experience with the Home Depot rep was great. In fact, the rep caught us before we even entered the bath/shower area and he helped us asap.
However, the type of service offered by 3rd party contractors was outrageously expensive and it kind of felt predatory from a sales pov. The rep was absolutely kind and very, very nice though.
We were quoted $14,700 ($2K worth of discounts applied) for a 5'5"x5'8" bathroom. This was ONLY the purchase and installation of a new 38"x38" neo-angle shower. We were doing the teardown, flooring, toilet and sink ourselves.
The shower was a very nice option, but definitely way more of a rehaul project and less of a refresh like we wanted.
What was really off putting was that we had picked out everything we wanted from Home Depot and it was about $4K. The contractor didn't seem interested in looking at these options as they had their own bathroom line. He said we could work with Home Depot on those items.
And the Home Depot rep made it sound like the contractor would help us with this - neither one looked at the options we had picked out from Home Depot to see if they even worked / fit properly in our bathroom.
We even gave the Home Depot rep our existing floor plan and the contractor visited our house the next day to physically measure the day before Thanksgiving. (They sure are fast to quote ya though!)
That was really the help we wanted - just verification that what we had selected would work and if not, what was similar that should work. Mainly options for DIY. It was actually a pretty big waste of everyone's time in the long run.
We ended up going to Menards on Black Friday instead and got everything we needed as well as a lot of help on different items like pipe fit-ups and things of that nature as our home is old and not everything is standard sizing for today's building.
It was a shame because we renovated our kitchen with Home Depot about 8 years ago with this location. We were not pawned off to a contractor then and the staff on-site at Home Depot helped us with the plans so we could do it ourselves.
Something has changed and it's not to the benefit of the customer. -
As a Springfield resident, I by a decent share of hardware. So coming into your stores not unusual. However, I avoid going in these stores lately because its like entering a backroom of a warehouse ,and little help on finding anything. It's a flat experience that drives me to other venues. As a decorated US veteran, my reception is like a food inspector gets at a Holiday Inn. Sure hope the big box buyers support you All because I now avoid going to HD altogether.
