Rail City has a great selection of landscape plants, trees and shrubs, annuals bulbs and perennials. I found a great selection of heirloom vegetables, as well as grafted tomatoes and many unique varieties of tomatoes, strawberries, peppers and pumpkins. The selection includes a lot of cool weather lettuces, chard, kale and peas. I really love the varieties of succulents too. They carry a full selection of organic options for your garden. They have a great home decor area with lots of fun signs and country decor. On the north end is the pond supply, so you can get set up with a nice pond. They also do seminars on the weekends. Staff is friendly and very courteous as well as knowledgeable.

Rail City is a great store with a wide variety of items that you can't find in box stores. And they're locally owned.

    Warning ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️
Do not shop here. The prices are misleading and or false advertising.
Went to buy soil, I wanted Ocean Forest Fox Farm. They were out, so I went to leave and the lady said. We have Pride Lands , New to us.
She said if you buy 3 bags at 17.99 you get the 4th one free.
Pay for it and the receipt said 17.99 for 4 bags.
Go back into the store and asked why I'm I paying 17.99 for 4 bags.
The Con Artist move, the original price is 24.00 per bag.
The lady never said that the price was 24.00.
They will not take the soil back.
You will feel ripped off and leave unhappy.
I will never set foot in this place ever again.
I will be making a complaint to Consumer.

Greater variety of soil supplements than other nurseries in town. I just wish they were friendly.

On my most recent visit, the lady that assisted me was over the top rude. I told the cashier. She seemed to care, but I was too irritated to discuss it.

Usually this place is great and has friendly staff. While waiting in line today though, one of the employees (or owner) was having a rather stern interaction with a customer. The customer wished to buy half a yard of gravel but stated his truck was not able to haul the full amount and asked if he could make two trips. The man at the counter said no he was in the wrong and that is not how they do thing there. He could purchase a half a yard since that was the smallest purchase size and haul away 1/4 yard. Then if he wanted more he could purchase another half a yard and again haul away 1/4. The customer was overly nice and obliged to being shorted what he was owed in order to get the gravel. Can’t help to feel some of this interaction was due to biased viewpoints of the man behind the counter.

This all sat unwell with me so I put my thing down I planned to purchase and walked out.

Stop visiting rail city nursery a couple years ago. Staff were very arrogant and didn't seem very happy. Tried ago a couple of days ago. While some of the staff has changed still the same. What a shame nice nursery over priced like all nursery. At least make me feel good before you accept my money.

Yard work just hits different when you fire up those loud two-stroke machines and bug the neighbors a little.

These guys are absolute crooks! After purchasing a product and taking it back the very next day to say it was broken, they refused to provide a refund and said they only give out credits. First of all, that is ridiculous as it forces you to spend your money there despite the fact they sold you a product that was just crap. Then they gave me a credit receipt for $120 and NO CARD. When I went back to use the receipt they said they could not use the credit receipt and they only accepted the card, however they did not give me a card at the time as they said they were out and just bring the receipt back. REALLY, this is a scam and these guys should be in jail! NEVER, NEVER use them!

Awesome place. Knowledgeable staff, great selection. By far the best nursery / garden center in the area. If you are looking for pond supplies (or any garden supplies for that matter) don't bother with anywhere else!

I love coming here. They are knowledgable, helpful, and have more than what I need. They also have an area for kids to play and distract, fun workshop, and great ice cream (not a typo)

The guy that works in the pond area is extremely knowledgeable and nice; however, the policies for returns is horrible and rips customers off. We tried to return a pond vacuum cleaner that was defective. We were told they do not do returns even if what they sold was defective. We were forced to do a store credit and they gave us a receipt showing the credit. I went back today to get some pond supplies and she said I couldn’t use the store credit without a gift card that they said should have accompanied the receipt. They did not give us one. I told the girl at the counter about this and she said in a very rude tone, “We can’t just give money away for you”. I was so shocked by her rudeness that I told her I am not going to shop at Rail City anymore. She laughed at me on my way out.

Rail City is overpriced but because the nursery is great I have been willing to deal with the idiots at the register who seem to hate their jobs. After today however, I will never go back. I have other alternatives for my pond supplies and do not need to put up with their rudeness.

I bought an expensive pear tree that was infected with blister mites. It put my whole orchard at risk and this nursery would not fake the tree back even though they agreed that it had mites when I bought it. The customer service is dreadful. I’ll never go back.

Three days ago I bought three electronic bird at this nursery. Two of them worked the other one didn’t ! I took it back. They had cost $70 each. The one I brought back was defective. The clerk said that they would not give me my money back, only a store credit. I admit that I became very upset. The then told me to talk to the manager. He also said that they never give anyone there money back. Again I lost it, why can’t I get my money back on a defective product I asked. He became very rude once standing in my way so I couldn’t move forward. I will never go back in that place. Checking with the better business bureau on their return policy. I didn’t see any sign about no cash refunds. Just be careful about buying anything at that nursery.

Love this nursery, so beautiful and well designed. You can find anything from yard art, to wonderful gifts for family and friends. Employees are always available to help and you never have to go looking for someone. So nice to see a business make sure customers are taken care of during the shopping experience.

I was a fan until I tried to return a dead plant. Bought 2 porcelain vines. One thrived and one never grew a leaf. Took the dead one back with the receipt within 30 days. Also had a photo of the good one. Owner had every excuse to blame me. Said I didn't water the plant. Then how did one survive if I was so negligent?? I managed to argue enough to get store credit. The plant only cost $20. He lost my business over it. I am including a photo of the one that did well.

Terrible business. We Bought two mature tress for 375 each (ouch), but we were confident in the quality after speaking to the owner. Two weeks later, one of the two trees would not root and was dying. We called the owner, and he said it was "lack of water". We watered both trees the same amount, yet this tree still would not thrive. We went back after two more months of excessive watering, and asked if there was anything he could do. He said, well they're now 25% off but we don't guarantee anything. I WILL NEVER do business here. It's tough to support a local business when they aren't willing to even look at their poor quality product. Home Depot would have exchanged the trees without a problem. Save yourself the headache and DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE.
