Appliance Repair reviews in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey

Honestly a 1 star review is incredibly generous. Called APL as google sent me their way for a fridge repair. To their credit someone came out same day. Took a look at the ice maker as it was not working. Pulled out the fridge and then said needed a full ice maker replacement. They took a 50% deposit for the part. They never came back nor returned countless phone calls. Management was called and was texted immediately requesting a text of what was wrong. Never responded. This company is a scam. Thankfully paid by credit card and it was refunded. Don’t even risk it. Look elsewhere.
Edit: owner called an apologies for my experience. Indicated he was away due to an emergency but has taken measures to prevent this from happening in the future. I did appreciate the conversation. -
Stay away from this company, do yourself a favor and price around. Our refrigerator stopped cooling so we called APL, they came over almost immediately and had been on the phone the entire time. After 20 minutes they said the compressor needed to be replaced and that it would cost $1,500 but the $140 charge we paid to get them there would be applied to the $1,500.
We immediately said no thank you, we will buy a new fridge. They suggested calling a number of a compressor technician that would be cheaper. Once they left the “compressor technician” started calling us saying he would charge $1,400 cash but the $140 we paid would not be applied.
Long story short we called another local appliance repair company he did us a huge favor an ran the serial number on our fridge to see if it was under warranty (it was) got us a free compressor and fixed it for $300. He said even with the compressor it would have been no more than $800 for everything.
APL is a huge scam, stay away and do your research. Might save you $1,200. -
I usually shy away from leaving unpleasant comments, but the degree of incompetence and deceit displayed by your company compels me to speak up. I’d hate to see an unsuspecting homeowner or business make the same mistake I made and waste their hard-earned money with your “company”. In April of 2024, one of my convection ovens was in need of repair. The temperature control module had stopped working and needed replacement. I was unable to reach my trusted repair company and decided to use Google to find a new one. As a professional baker who depends on his equipment to make a living, I was eager to have the repair made asap. To my regret, I decided to schedule APL for the repair. The appointment was scheduled, and I waited patiently for the tech to show up. At the time that the appointment was set, he was a no-show. 30 minutes later, I received a text saying he was running late and would be there within the hour. An hour went by and again he was a no-show. 45 minutes later a beat-up old sedan pulled into my parking lot and two scroungy looking men stepped out of the car (no signage on the car and they weren’t wearing uniforms, not even a branded t-shirt. I started to question my decision to hire APL.
Both men did not speak any English which made it very difficult to communicate with them. I showed them where the oven was located and what needed repairing. They stood there for a few minutes and did not know how to access the module. Reluctantly, I showed them how to take out the screws to access the module and left them to it. I checked on them 30 minutes later and they had taken the oven apart beyond what was needed. This left me in a bad position as most repair companies won’t fix other companies’ mistakes. I again pointed out which module needed repair, and the men removed it. They then told me that they did not have it and would return (leaving the oven in pieces). Upon their return they replaced the module with an off-brand part. Once the oven was back together, we tested the oven, and it worked properly.
The next day, we turned on the oven and it did not work properly. I sent a video of the oven malfunctioning and got no reply. I tried to contact the “technician” a few more times but still no reply. Months later, I sent a text asking for a new module or my money back and received a rude text from the tech stating that he would come to my establishment to make the repair but not free of charge because the warranty had expired.
I was scammed by this company and have learned a valuable lesson. It is my recommendation to whomever is reading my review to NEVER hire this so-called company. It is my beleif that they don’t have staff technicians but use subcontractors instead. BUYER BEWARE. -
Called tech to come fix our refrigerator. When tech came to check the refrigerator. He was observed touching the edges of the door forcefully possibly damaging a part he claimed that was broken. He found a total of 2 parts that was broken. He gave us an invoice saying the repair would cost $400 including parts and labor for both parts. Now he is claiming that he needs to charge us for the second part even though he sent an invoice saying it was for both parts.
Don't use this company they are scammers -
The technicians were great. They worked quickly to resolve my refrigerator issue. A part was needed, they ordered it right before the wkd started and called me the following Monday to finish repairing my fridge. They worked very quickly and efficiently.

I really don’t like leaving bad reviews like this but this place is Terrible. I had an emergency and my dryer went down and stopped working with a code that came up. I tried playing with it myself and couldn’t get it to work and I had tons of clothes that needed to be done so I went to a laundromat but still needed this fixed so I Searched Google for a place this came up under another company and site. They sent someone same day but guy did not speak English or pretended not to. They told me on the phone they come out and see what’s wrong and it’s 99.00 dollars if they can’t fix it but free estimate and check and if they can fix they will give price on site. I gave it a shot. Had to go back and forth with the guy through a translator with his phone. He took apart the whole dryer and I’m thinking he’s checking to find the problem. Goes outside for a cigarette break and then finds a small plug part in his car comes back in and puts the part in and fixes the dryer and puts it back together and then at the end tells me it’s $450.00. I talked him down to 380.00 but terrible communication forced their way to get the sale didn’t explain he was taking it apart and then fixing it never could explain a price to me if it was fixed. Complete ripoff. Liars and seems like a scam. Gives a receipt with a different phone number and website that came to this. You call to complain to some girl on the phone and she says I will find out why they charged you so much and then she never called me back. I went on the neighbor app and a few other people had this same issue with this place . Don’t call this place. Liars and thieves

The technician Andrew provided prompt and efficient service to my oven. I was impressed by his professionalism, as he wore shoe gloves during the entire service. Moreover, he clearly explained the issues with my oven and had the necessary replacement parts readily available, eliminating the need for a second appointment. I highly recommend this reliable technician for any equipment repairs. Rest assured, you will not be disappointed with his expertise. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👍👍👍

Update: I was able to get ahold of the manager (he had Covid which is why I didn’t hear from him right away) and after a few days they sent someone back out to re-assemble the dryer to its original condition. They cleaned the grate which is what they were called out to do initially.
The entire problem seemed to be the result of a communication barrier which was easily remedied with the use of a translator app. Communication was smooth with the assistant of the app. The technician did clean work and was polite. I’m happy with the results.
THE NEGATIVE PORTION OF THIS REVIEW WAS DUE TO A COMMUNICATION BARRIER. THE TECH WAS SKILLED AND PROFESSIONAL AND DID EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO RIGHT THE SITUATION.

Something melted in my dryer and I called to have the grate replaced or repaired/cleaned. He insisted that there was something wrong with my heating element because he couldn’t get the dryer to warm. I know the dryer was working fine because I called him because the plastic melted on to my warm clothing out of the dryer. But he kept trying to use the sensor feature without wet clothing in the drum. I told him he would have to use time dry setting. I went into another room for 20 mins and came back to my entire dryer being dissembled.
