Home Services reviews in West Orange, New Jersey

We’ve tried shopping there a bunch over the years. Every time we have had a bad experience. They are over priced and not helpful. I bought a jasmine bush for $45 last year and it died immediately. Put it in the right location and right sun. I called to complain and they wouldn’t help me. Their attitude was you buy the plant and you’re on your own. I get it sort of but what was discouraging was the way I was spoken to on the phone. It wasn’t nice. So we’ve tried and tried and we are done now. We suggest you go else where.

Love the annual 40% off sale! Staff is friendly and helpful. Finally found a rope plant! It's a very hard to find plant in regular plant stores. I can always count on Metropolitan to have different types of houseplants. This location has changed its store hours for the summer, so they close earlier.

Nice space ,good selection of plants and the staff is helpful, prices r rather high compared to prices of the same plants in Europe.

The work staff is pleasant enough, but the managers or the men who appear to be managers are not helpful or pleasant to me. These managers would always be helpful to the other women and offer them assistance to carry their purchases to their cars, but they never ask me. I especially noticed it this year as I spent a lot of money there this season. When I would politely ask a question they made it seem as if I'm bothering them. There was one worker who would not move from behind the counter to direct me. He would simply point or grumble something. Good Customer Service is definitely lacking. Nurseries are in abundance in New Jersey. In the future, I will give my best to the nursery located in Orange, New Jersey. I must be better.

I spend entirely too much money here but good quality products 👍🏻

This place is amazing!!!!!! :) I love their selection and I love their service. Joanna was so sweet and very helpful!! ☺️

Needed flowers in a pinch and had absolutely no problem getting it done here. Joanna helped me with balloons and wrapping and preparing the flower bouquet and did a very careful and thorough job. She was also very nice and easy to talk to. Everyone in this location is amiable and it’s a reason I will continue coming back. Even when busy, they take the time to make you feel welcome and to make sure your needs are being met. That’s the recipe of a business that knows what it’s doing and why it’s doing it. Bravo, be back very soon.

Metropolitan Plant Exchange in West Orange has been one of our favorite quality plant suppliers for many years - and this winter they went above and beyond, donating their left over Christmas Trees to all of our animals for winter enrichment. Looking forward to planting with Metropolitan in 2018!

I rarely (correction NEVER post on anything EVER). However today Sunday I went to Metropolitan to order a simple prom wristlet for Tuesday. I was told that they are no longer taking requests for prom wristlets since prom season is from April to June. Well today is June 16 duh. I’m ok with rules. However approximately one week ago before a planned vacation I visited them to see what kind of lead time they needed to fulfill this simple request and pricing and was told "no worries just come in on Sunday when you return and we will have it ready by Tuesday”. Well this morning when I went to place simple order- there were 4 sales people hanging out talking to one another - no customers in the fresh flower area. They seemed irritated by me wanting to place an order. I asked to speak with manager and was told she's on the phone and they presented me with two closed wristlet boxes. I guess they were previously placed orders that were not picked up. I just left and went to a much smaller Maplewood florist and NO PROBLEM- order placed. I have observed in the past that certain people get certain treatment or mistreatment here - just saying.......

Chrissy was an absolute pleasure to work with. She took my vision and turned it into reality. I would highly recommend metropolitan plant exchange for all your wedding floral needs and desires. If you are lucky enough to work with Chrissy, I would highly recommend. She is so creative, attentive, and fun.

Chrissy at Metropolitan Plant and Flower Exchange in West Orange, NJ created and coordinated all of the floral arrangements for our recent wedding at the Park Savoy Estate in Florham Park, NJ. OMG!!!!!! She knocked it out of the park. It was pleasure to work with her and benefit from her design expertise. She is truly talented. We simply explained our vision for our wedding day. She took our vision and worked with us to create the most amazing floral designs imaginable. If ever we need a florist in the future, we would not think of using anyone but Chrissy at Metropolitan Plant and Flower Exchange.

Ordered some flowers for my mother's birthday. The flowers arrived promptly and my mom called me to tell me that they might have been the prettiest flowers she's ever received.

I ordered a flower arrangement a week before Mother’s Day. I came to the store with my email confirmation and no one could find my arrangement. I was passed along to three different people before they determined it was lost. Chrissy confirmed that she made it but had nothing to show for it. They offered to make it an hour later than when it should’ve been made and that point I requested a refund. My mom has been ordering from Metropolitan flower exchange for 20 years and this was my first time ordering flowers for her on Mother’s Day. Extremely disappointed that I didn’t receive the service my mom has been raving about. Everyone in the store on Mother’s Day clearly waited the day of and got what they requested while I paid for a service that I didn’t get.

I remember coming here years ago and it was overly busy - was hard to get the attention of anyone's help. I recently visited the West Orange location to get a plant for friends' new home and was pleasantly surprised. There are many choices to choose from, the plants are very healthy, the staff very attentive.
I walked away with not just a plant for our friends, but 2 nice looking plants for our house, which gets little light indoors. Will return & recommend to anyone needing plants or fresh flowers. -
I am so disappointed with the customer service provided. My husband has been going to this location for two years, every single Sunday, to buy me flowers. Never skipped a beat. Spending anywhere from $50 - $75 for a bouquet. I also made a handful of purchases over the years. However, the last 4 purchases were bug infested. The first two, I thought it was my fault because I placed them outside before bringing them indoors. But reality set in when the last two plants were infested with worms and all kind of pests and they came straight from your shop to my office. The last plant I purchased, a rubber plant, cost me $89.99. While I felt it was overpriced, I purchased it anyway. When I brought them home, every single day from the day I purchased them - the leaves were dropping. Literally every day I lost leaves….. after a few weeks, I decided to inspect the soil. I was in shock. See photos. I freaked out and immediately threw it out. Didnt want to leave it in my home any longer. Last Sunday, like a loyal customer I went back to buy another plant. But figured I would speak to a manger and explain my dilemma. Hoping I would at least get a 5% discount. She was SO NASTY and VERY unprofessional and basically told me “sorry nothing I can do. You should have brought the plant back here.” Like REALLY?! 1) I didnt know I could do that. 2) there were a bunch of worms swimming in the damn soil. I didn’t want that in my car!!!! I run multiple businesses that is highly customer driven and requires a great deal of customer interaction. I would never treat a customer the way she treated me.
In my presence she spoke to another customer just as nasty. Who was simply asking for a bathroom. Why!? Why must you be so nasty to the same people who drives business. Your customers should be your priority.
While it makes me sad because we’ve been going to this location for so long and the flowers are absolutely beautiful. I will have to take my business elsewhere but needed to share this feedback
Oh the manager, I cant recall her name. I was too upset to register her name. She was disgusting! Blond hair, seems to be mature (older) and extremely unapproachable. See photo of her attached.
I guess because its a family owned business this probably doesn't matter to you. I called your main line to complain and the person who answered the phone didnt seem to care either. She just told call back on Monday and speak to Tony. Not empathetic at all. -
100000/10 stars. Chrissy made all of our wedding floral dreams come true. I wanted a mix of something that felt traditional, but also with a touch of English garden. She nailed this. She can answer any question you may have, and also remind you of things you never thought of. Chrissy is an amazing florist, and an even more amazing person.

We are regular customers at the West Orange, NJ, location, and recently placed a floral order for a business event held in New York City. Ms. Chrissy W., on short notice, put together a stunning arrangement which everyone loved! Creative and prompt, Chrissy offers wonderful customer service. We highly recommend her!
Her associate, Madelyn, is also pleasant and courteous. Alyssa is great as well.
We wish the wonderful West Orange team all the best, and most certainly look forward to working with them again! -
I have been to Metropolitan many times for flowering bushes and shrubs and went last year for our Christmas Tree. I have always found their selection to be great and their service outstanding. Earlier this week, I went there for flowers for the first time. I was very impressed not only with the beauty of the flowers, but with the time and attention paid by the young woman at the floral counter. She was meticulous and added some thoughtful, attractive touches. I have attached a picture of the flowers to show them off. The fact that I paid the same price for these as from a grocery store is just amazing to me.
I also want to post a review because of the professional manner in which the staff dealt with a difficult customer. The woman was trying to get immediate assistance for a wedding consult, without an appointment, and apparently for a wedding occurring within weeks. After multiple explanations, the customer was unsatisfied and basically let everyone who would listen know how upset she was. Everyone at Metropolitan remained calm, yet firm. I wanted to express my support for how they handled the situation. Definitely a five star experience. -
Great selection with plants being very healthy and beautiful. Being a get what you pay for kind of person, I've found it is the best place to go. Great service and great staff. Love popping in there to see their most recent arrivals.
