I had a few odds and ends jobs like gutter cleaning, tacking up siding that had blown off, mending cracks in chimney, etc.. John made quick work of these and in the process noted and took pictures of future potential issues to address. What sets John apart is his honesty, attention to detail, and knowledge that he shares to inform the customer, because he cares that the job is done right. Highly recommend him for your General Contracting needs.

I called Johansen General Contracting and made an appointment for an estimate. The owner John responded that day and provided me with an estimate by that night. The price was very reasonable so I accepted it. My job was scheduled within a reasonable amount of time and that appointment was kept. Many contractors don’t show or have many other excuses. Johansen G.C. was the total opposite. Everything was planned and carried out as promised with no issues. The workers arrived and worked hard from start to finish for my 3 day project. The area was left cleaner then when they found it. I am highly satisfied with the final work product and the overall project. Highly recommend!!! A+

Finding a reliable contractor who will actually return your call, and show up and perform quality work is far and few between. I'm happy to report Johansen General Contracting is one of these rare specimens. John and team have completed work for me on several occasions the past few years, and I am continually pleased with their performance. John is a straight-shooter who will make sure things get done right the first time. If you are looking for a contractor who can provide an excellent work product, I highly suggest you give them a call.

John is next level, he is responsive, literally there any time there is an emergnecy. I've never had someone so reliable! But he gets the job done too, with confidence I truly recommend Johansen Contracting. There are so few solid contractors out there- if you are lucky enough to get John working on a job for you then you hit the jackpot.

I recently had some work needing to be done timely. I reached out to John and told him I was in a jam. John had a full schedule but told me he would find someone for me. The next morning I had someone contact me and the day after the contractor came in and completed the job. Clean, well priced, and professional. I cannot thank John enough for his professionalism and diligence in finding someone. He was responsive, attentive to the issue, and found someone immediately (never brushed me off). John is owner and he personally came with crew and finish Job professionally on time and quality work. He is very knowledgeable person I have met. I'm 100% satisfied with his work. I've use for three major project. 1) Rangehood fan new connection change from 3 inch outside wall to 6 inch thru roof. 2) Water pressure valve installed with plumbing on main water line. 3) Water heater installed due to emergency water heater broke. All work he personally done with his crew on time and quality work. You do not need to worry about. Honest person. I would recommend him very much. Future project will definitely assign him.

Went in looking for a local contractor not knowing anyone to use, John was local and had great reviews so my wife and I said why not. Boy were we glad we did. We could not have been more satisfied. This man is smart, respectful, polite, funny. He did exactly what we wanted and then some, exceeded expectations. He started the job and stayed until it was finished, did not leave for a couple days and come back etc.. His staff is respectful, and as quiet as they can be and hard workers. They work very clean. They plastic sheet up everything to keep the dust and debris localized to the area the work is being performed in. Clean up every night before they leave. I wish I could have found Johansen contractors years ago. If you find yourself in the same position as we were call John you’ll be glad you did.

John and his team worked on the front steps of my house and built a retention wall for my front yard. I’m overly pleased with the outcome of the project. John is honest and delivers on his word. He kept me informed of the progress and completed the work on time as promised. You can tell he’s passionate about his craft, has an eye for perfection and his work ethic is commendable! I highly recommend John and his team and look forward to working with him on future home improvements.

My husband and I got our first home in 2016 and we knew that we would need to find someone. Johansen just finished his third project with us and it keeps getting better! He is totally flexible with our schedule, honest and upfront with pricing, and the value of his work cannot be beat.

First we started with a window replacement in our son's room. Next project was unplanned, we discovered mold in our garage. His crew cleared it and when they re insulated our ducts it looks better than before! Now we have a brand new driveway. He even saw that there needed to be better drainage on the driveway next to our steps and made sure it happened.

Had a long list of smaller jobs that needed to get done at the house. Its always a concern that a contractor won't want to come out to do smaller things, however John came out and gave us a very fair price on the list of work that needed to be done that included pulling a step from the backyard steps and repairing the surrounding concrete. John arrived exactly as scheduled on the day with TWO workers to get the list done. While he was here he noticed that the handle on the door that leads to the backyard had come off. He went ahead and fixed the handle as well at no extra cost. We HIGHLY recommend Johansen Contracting for any work you might need done. We will be having them redo the concrete in the yard shortly.

Finding the combination of a very nice person and a great honest contractor is rare these days. We found that person in John Johansen. He and his crew did an excellent job installing ceramic tile in our bathroom. They were courteous, always on time, meticulous in their work and completed the project on the day it was promised. The tile looks great! We would highly recommend their services.

I called John after finding him on Google when i had a leak in the ceiling. John was very responsive and very patient. He stopped by the next day to take a look and tell me what the root cause was. He found the second floor toilet was moving and needed to be reset. When he stopped by he also said there was a couple of other things that should probably be addressed as well from his professional opinion. I was truly apprehensive with any new companies since i was really trusting with other companies and they ended up either starting a job and then never coming back or grossly overcharging. I had a completely different experience with John. He asked before proceeding with roofing repair (which was a blessing since Ida happened the next month). He also suggested resetting the front gutters, which my tenants said used to pour over, but not since John took care of it! Initially i thought he was a bit expensive however i did get a quote back before he got to work and the price was more than fair for the quality of work that John and his crew delivered. John and his crew are very close and it truly shows, they were cracking jokes together and working quickly with urgency. It was nice to see. John had about 6 people working and was completed within a few hours. I was able to leave to work and come back comfortably with everything being done. John even walked through everything he did once i came back on site with great detail. I now have another issue at a different home with my tenants and John was the first one i called! Trustworthy and quality work! What else can you ask for!? He wont steer you wrong. Thank you John!

We bought a house in December and knew we needed to turn a half bath into a full bath so my mom could spend the night when she visits. We called several contractors and fortunately we chose Johansen. In our first phone call John laughed that once you worked with him, you never let him go, and after this project I completely understand. The work was done well and quickly. We have two small children and the workers went to great lengths to keep a safe distance, wore their masks, and we all felt very safe while the work progressed. We were kept in the loop, given good advice, and the end result is a beautiful and glamorous bathroom that my mom really loves. We will absolutely be calling them again!

Updating!
In May 2022 we did a kitchen refresh and the Johansen Team executed the project really well. We had new countertops installed, installed a new faucet and sink, tiled the backsplash, and had the walls painted. It may seem like minor updates but the overall effects are stunning. We are so happy with the final result and as always, we found working with John and his team to be easy and efficient. Every time I work with John I'll submit a review because to find a contractor that is honest, trustworthy, and reliable is something to celebrate!

John Johansen is an all around great contractor to work with. He responded to our initial work inquiry in a very timely manner. John communicated regularly and clearly on all jobs and timelines, there were no surprises. John did exactly what he said he would do and more. The quality of his work was impeccable and his clean up was thorough. We are very happy with his work. John also made great recommendations on other service providers. We look forward to working with John again in the future.

I can't say enough positive things about John and his team. We were referred to John because of a leak in our basement. We were told by other contractors that this could be a very expensive fix, but we were met with so much relief when we met John. He told us that he would not jump to over the top solutions if more minor solutions had the potential to solve the problem. He replaced and installed a new gutter system and helped to build up part of the outside land in order to move water away from the house. This solved our problem! It ended up being much less of a financial commitment than I was expecting. Not only is John great at his job, but he is a genuinely kind and honest person and is absolutely lovely to work with! He will always be our number one call whenever we have repair needs around our home. Thank you, John!

John did a phenomenal job clearing the overgrown jungle that evolved in our rental property. He and his team trimmed trees, removed all out of control "weed trees", weeds growing through pavers and fencing. They also removed all broken planters and sprayed an organic weed killer in order to prevent returning weeds from taking hold. He sent pictures of before and after and the property was completely clean and free of any debris. We were very pleased with the work, the timeliness of completing the job, and the ease of working with John. We highly recommend him.

I called John after our basement had taken on water after a heavy rainfall. Being a first time homeowner and not really knowing what to expect, John walked my husband and I through every little detail of what he was going to do, what we could do to stop the basement from flooding in the future, and pointed out a few other things that could be fixed from his professional opinion. John’s pricing is extremely reasonable, his work is thorough, and keeps you informed on every step of progress. No job is truly too small for John. He helped replace a hard to reach fire detector quickly and seamlessly.

John Johansen and his team did an amazing job and I could not have been happier with their work. They are reasonably priced, professional, courteous, efficient, and do fantastic work. I called John to fix the concrete in and around my bilco doors as well as fix a water drainage issue in my backyard with my gutter downspouts. John was able to diagnose the issues, provide recommendations on repairs, and (best of all as a new homeowner) did not try to upsell me on unnecessary fixes. His prices were very reasonable given how much they did. Since then, we have had a few big storms and the drainage issue has been completely eliminated! On top of that, while he was here, John even helped me tackle other fixes in my yards to some of my landscaping, going above and beyond would be an understatement! I can confidently say, I will be calling John in the future the next time I need a contractor.

Shortly after my wife and I bought our first house, we identified certain items requiring redress and were not sure where to start. A trusted friend of ours recommended I reach out to John for some advice.

You’d think from our first interaction that I’d known John for years—he spent a considerable amount of time talking to me and offered to come by in person as soon as he was free to evaluate what needed to be done and help us make a plan. True to his word, John came by shortly after we spoke and took his time going from room to room, both listening to our concerns and questions, as well as making observations of his own.

We came up with a plan in multiple parts. Each was soon realized and within a month, we’d addressed more then half of the items we wanted addressed.

In the months that followed, we continued to call John for projects or advice on what projects were worthwhile, if at all. He became (and remains—more on that later) our go to contractor. These projects ranged from very small to mid-sized, and he always made time in his schedule for us between home visits to plan, phone calls to discuss scope or cost, and emails back and forth to iron out scopes of work and details. The key takeaway here is that John was always very accessible and communication was constant.

As the seasons changed, so did our projects and associated needs. John always made it work.

We recently had a sudden and stressful water issue in our bedroom. John had a contact for water remediation and got us in touch right away, and made sure his guys were on site immediately after so we had a wall up as soon as possible.

Interspersed throughout all of the above, and other projects, we had plumbing and electrical needs. John has contacts for both, but knew we had professionals in those fields we know and liked to work with as well. John never pressured us to use his contacts and was always willing to work with whoever we wanted to, stressing our comfort and peace of mind with every job.

We are actively working with John on several items, small and large, and our positive experience remains consistent.

John’s crew, which we have met many times, is fantastic. They are polite, hard working, and always showed up a few minutes early. They have always been respectful of our home and property and clean up after themselves.

John’s approach to jobs, scopes of work, and costs has always been extremely transparent and in our view, very fair. We have never felt overcharged or strung along and the handful of times we raised cost concerns, John worked with us to alleviate them as much as possible. John had never pushed us into spending more money than we wanted, or needed to. He’s talked us out of certain projects in favor of a more cost effective options, or not pursuing them at all for practical reasons.

As both a person and professional, John is kind, understanding, and thoughtful. He has never brushed off our concerns and explained things as many times as needed to make us comfortable. He was always available for questions—even when he didn’t need to be. He has gone out of his way numerous times to resolve small issues that were on our minds solely for the sake of alleviating our concerns more quickly.

My wife and I have come to view John as a dear friend and are very grateful to have him in our lives. Our oldest son loves construction vehicles, tools, and big trucks. Of course, John has many trucks to the delight of our son, who talks about him all the time. Every truck we see is “John’s truck” and he is ecstatic when he sees him. He pretends to fix things around the house with a toy toolset and tool belt—which John gave him for his birthday. This was one of many, many kindnesses John has shown our son, and you can tell how much our son values his interactions with John.

Knowing firsthand how stressful anything construction/house related can be, it is immeasurably valuable to have someone reliable and honest to work with, and we are so fortunate to have found that with John and his crew. We cannot recommend them enough.

Long overdue review but I would absolutely recommend Johansen General Contracting to anyone looking for reputable work that won’t break the bank. John has worked on my property about 3 or 4 times now. Each time his team does superb work, works quick, cleans up properly after themselves, and overall set their clients up for success. John has worked with me to formulate a plan of attack on multiple projects and he also takes the time to educate me. All while charging fair prices and not taking advantage. 10/10 recommend.
