We brought John Johansen and his team in to retile our kitchen floors and install backsplash. They did a superb job on that, but they really went the extra mile. We encountered a few hiccups along the way (asbestos, termites, and mold), but John quickly brought in specialists to address each of these areas. While the project ended up being more involved than we originally intended, John managed the whole process in a timely and professional manner. Beyond the above, John and his team also installed an additional cabinet and countertop, closed up screw and nail holes in the walls that were there when we purchased the unit, and repainted several areas of our apartment. He also coordinated with an electrician to add a ceiling fan. We are thrilled with the results and love our new kitchen.

John was extremely responsive over phone and text. He and his workers tidied up at the end of each day and did a great job cleaning after the whole project was complete so that we could move everything right back in. I would definitely work with Johansen General Contracting again. Here are before and after photos.

First time customer. Very pleased with the service and work. Time was a real consideration for us. Work needed to be done right away and John and his crew came through in a very timely manner. They did a great job and we will continue to be a customer.

What can I say... NOT ENOUGH! John is a godsend. I decided to roll a construction loan in for renovations on a condo, and John was there to work with the bank from beginning to end. He painted, installed a new backsplash, added high hats, insulated the attic, fixed HVAC piping, and installed a new HVAC unit. He took the time to fix some poor lighting and boiler work that a previous contractor did. He checked out the unit for me faster than my scheduled inspector with the SAME results FOR FREE. He brought my roommate some cupcakes and bins full of cds and tapes for his birthday, because he knew the guy loves music. He even worked around a feisty dog.

Halfway through the project Covid struck, and it made it very difficult for John to complete the project. Inspectors were unavailable, offices closed, and it was hard to align schedules. He never once gave up. He did an excellent job of persevering and managing the project. I ordered a new washer and drying from Lowes with removal of the old and installation of the new. The XPO Logistics guys they sent were rude and disrespectful. They refused to do the job. After calling Lowes' headquarters having them resend new guys who also would NOT install and remove, I reached out to John. He took care of EVERYTHING in 1 day. He even discovered some water damage from a leaking washing machine (closet stacked setup), and he recommended a great flooring company who repaired the floor.

John is a man of faith and an absolute gentleman. It was a pleasure working with him. He's easy to communicate with, and he's very knowledgeable on all topics of homeownership. All his work is high quality. I look forward to working with him again in the future!

I had a very positive experience with John Johansen & his team! Our plumber left us with a great big hole in our shower wall when he repaired a leaky bathtub faucet. John's men were great and did a terrific job of replacing the tiles. I found John to be very responsive & personable. I highly recommend him!!

I highly recommend Johansen General Contracting for even the most custom jobs. We had a 50 year old wall oven, and when the door broke off, we had no idea how to fix it. We called John, and he came up with some solutions. We explained that the kitchen is not ready for a full overhaul but we need a simple and inexpensive fix. He laid out a couple of options and estimates. They were absolutely reasonable considering the times we are living in, and how expensive everything is. As you can see in the photos, it was a very custom job, done in and day and a half. We have a new stove and more closet space than we had before. Thank you John. When we remodel, you’ll be our first call.
