HVAC reviews in Astoria, New York

I had 2 PTACs from this company. They delivered the wrong models, but I opted to just install them to save time. The installation crew literally KICKED in one of the units into the sleeve. Few weeks later, that unit had a loose part that was making noises. They came back to fix it. More than a year later, the same unit is now having compressor issues. The carelessness and the lack of professionalism of this company are the likely cause of the PTAC unit failing less than 2 years since purchase. I'm really disappointed by this company's conduct.

This review is relating to my recent experience hiring Lion Enterprises to fix two broken PTAC units.
Maybe you see some positive reviews about this company but do not be fooled. This company changed their name from Lion Aire recently, so check out the reviews on that company too—there you will see a longer history of bad reviews. It is my sincere hope that this review spares customers from dealing with Lion Enterprises and I sympathize with others who have had similarly bad experiences with them.
When I first called Lion Enterprises (June 2017) I was given an appointment three days in the future and an appointment window of 12PM to 5PM. They stated that they would make an attempt to fix the units onsite but could not share a rate sheet or provide any cost estimate.
This should have been my first red flag.
I had to take off work to be home for the full time window of 12-5pm, and despite my checking in with them periodically the day-of, their technicians did not arrive until 5:30PM-- outside of the specified window. They offered no apology about the lateness and instead made excuses about tough parking.
Their technicians arrived with no tools and had no plan of fixing my units onsite. One used my bathroom and tracked mud on my bathroom floor and left my toilet a mess.
Ultimately after 5 and a half hours of waiting they left with both of my units and refused to give me an ETA for fixing and returning them, as neither one of them was experienced enough to diagnose anything onsite. They do not send experienced technicians to your home.
I called to check in on my units after 3 days of them being at their shop and was advised that I should have been told it can take 7-10 days for an estimate. This was complete news to me. They complained to me that they are very busy this season.
I called on the 7th day and on the 10th day and spoke to various people in the office. Ultimately I got through to David, who referred to himself as the manager. He sympathized with my issues but ultimately wasn’t able to push the shop to focus on my units. He couldn’t deliver an ETA to me either.
I let it play out another two days and called again, and at this point the repair time was well outside of the 7-10 day promise. After again speaking with several members of the office who were unhelpful I got through to the manager David, who admitted to me that they have a lot of people there who don’t know what they are doing. I understand this is a seasonal business but I recommend working with a company who can handle the busy season better than Lion.
At this point it is mid July and the temperatures in New York are consistently in the 80s. I learned this morning from Lion Enterprises that after keeping my units in their shop for two weeks no one has even looked at them yet. As of this morning I continued to get inconsistent answers from the various members of the staff regarding any progress.
I ultimately had to send a truck to pick up the units myself, and without A/C for two weeks have to restart the repairs from square one. I recommend with every fiber of my being to avoid this company.
I tried repeatedly to get through to the owner of the company. I do believe that business owners generally have good intentions and I wanted to give the owner an opportunity to make things right. But the owner would not return my calls.
This company does not take responsibility for any errors on their part and they do not send anyone to your home who can fix the problem in short order. Therefore if you have just a minor problem, odds are they are going to walk off with your A/C for an unknown amount of time and turn all problems into big problems. -
Terrible company. Read the 1 star reviews and stay clear of these crooks!! One set of technicians arrived and said they needed to order a part then a 2nd set of technicians arrive and say they don't know what the other technicians were talking about and say the unit needs to be dismantled and brought to their shop for inspection. All this on a unit that's not more than 3 years old.
Don't fall for their free 30 second inspection of the other units scam like my tenants did. They claim my other unit needs to be replaced although my tenants had never reported any heating or cooling problems with it. This is a fraudulent company with corrupt business practices. Save yourself the headache. -
Awful experience. Used this company (at the manufacturer's recommendation) to fix a broken PTAC. Missed their first appointment then came a week later. The four-week shop estimate turned into 6 weeks and I'm pretty sure that only happened because I started calling to check on the status. Less than two months later, it's dead again with the same problem. They are refusing to honor their 1-year warranty and won't even look at it again unless we pay for another service call. Requests to speak with a manager have been a series of not-returned calls.

I was charged $260 + tax just for them to come look at a broken air conditioner for 15 minutes and said it needs to be replaced. In their defense, they told me they would charge this much but it was supposed to be discounted off the final price. What they didn't mention was they charge over $500 more than their competing companies. I ended up just paying the $260 and still saved money by buying from a different company.

You guys are inconsiderate for the elderly people, our AC Unit was taken almost a month and has yet to be fixed by the company nor has called us but when contact them they told us they have no idea when will our ac unit will fixed mind you it’s summer time we don’t want to be locked in the bedroom. Why can’t you guy’s fix the Motor that is burned out? Lion enterprise has audacity to tell prestige management since you broke Contract with us so we’re keeping all Residence units and it’ll be fix like their new tenants when we have been living in the building for 13 years so why are you all playing games with us mom and I? I’ll say this one time if anything happens to mom I will be suing the company okay for being rude not taking Sensitivity classes. Another thing all units do not belong to you guys. It belongs to the owners of High Bridge Overlook OK you guys have ignored us. My mother is 75 years old is a colon cancer survivor, I am battling ovarian cancer fix the issue.

Good experience. Had them put in a new PTAC unit but it started to smell badly on the third day. They replied to calls and came and checked it pretty quickly and finally agreed to replace with a new one next day. What a relief in a hot summer. Thank you!

I’ve been using Lion for the past years without problem. However in the past months, I called them to service my units and repair a leakage. Of all the 3 units, they failed to fix the units after multiple visits but charged for every single visit. Their technicians don’t seem to know what they’re doing and make a big mess. Stay away from this company!
Update: the manager has reached out based on my review. I appreciate his effort in trying to rectify the problem. He also made an extra step to offer a solution in the end. -
We recently replaced 5 PTAK units in our condo. Lion E did a great job. Cheirif was a true professional and very knowledgable. Also a friendly honest fellow. Alexis in the office, was great to deal with, very accommodating. After a few weeks the units are still performing beautifully.

Has to be the worst company out there. Absolute scammers. $1K for a repair, they took 2+ months to return the AC unit when they had originally said 2 weeks, and the AC unit is still broken. Have never had such an unpleasant experience. Avoid for your own good.

I had a very good experience with purchasing and installing a new AC unit from Lion.
Customer service David and his technicians were very polite and professional.
David always returned my calls asap.
I did not compare prices but it was the professionalism that made my decision.
Stress free is most important especially in a town like NYC. -
Used Lion because my apartment building recommended three different AC repair contractors and Lion was the cheapest option. Big mistake. After a quick 2 minute initial inspection of my AC unit, a crew arrived the following week to repair it. It seemed as though the repair team was able to replace the fan and it worked normally again...until I tried turning off the AC after the crew left. The AC unit started smoking and wouldn't turn off. I had to manually unplug it and call Lion again to come fix their mistake. So a couple of days later another repair crew arrived and took the AC unit to their shop. Its been almost 2 weeks since the AC unit was taken and I still haven't heard anything about an ETA for it being fixed/returned. I've called multiple times over the last 2 weeks but just keep getting told someone will call me back later in the day (which they never do).
I don't leave reviews often but have been very frustrated in dealing with Lion. Like other reviewers, Lion doesn't seem to have a problem collecting credit card info and charging for faulty repairs. In summary, I'd highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. -
I went through Lion Enterprise to fix my ac/heating unit. The amount they charge is over the top and I was able to save some money on taxes if I pay in cash. They agreed to accept cash. But they ended up just charging my card and I ended up paying almost $100 more in taxes. The customer service person Bibi was rude and never mentioned any solution and just went ahead and charged my card since it was on file. I won’t be going through them again. Awful experience.

They came to service our AC units. I shared that two of them were smelling really bad - like pee and mildew. I saw him take a spray bottle of soap and just douse the unit with it (inside on the diff panels) no wipe down, no rinse off. On the top vent where air comes out, he just covered it with the spray - again just concealing the issue not addressing it. When I asked abt wiping down/rinsing, he just said oh no it’ll just dry it’s fine. Mind you this is in our baby’s nursery - so now her room reaks of chemical green apple and if we want to run the AC unit, she’s inhaling toxic fumes.

I never write reviews on Google but I’ve had such an awful experience with them that I had to warn other people do not use this company!!!!!!! a repair man came to inspect my PTAC system and said it would be 4 to 5 days to fix, they removed my system to repair it in their shop and now they’re saying it’s 3 to 4 weeks. I’m completely without AC and they’re not answering my calls or giving me any status or ETA on when the repair will be. They’re extremely unprofessional unorganized and terrible customer service

Great experience with Lion service today. We used to be customers of one of their competitors, but no more!
First of all, I had a booking for 9am-1pm, and had to change it last minute (like literally) due to an emergency. They were super understanding and helpful.
The technicians knew their stuff and fixed our AC — and it’s the first time in YEARS that we get a properly cool living room. It’s night and day from before.
Also they found a simple, practical, and very effective solution to an air flow problem we have been living with for years.
Highly recommended and we are now loyal customers! -
We have used Lions Enterprise for years and always found them to provide quality trust worthy service. However, our recent experience was so poor that we will explore other providers moving forward. Besides the new appointment booking process that's cumbersome, the technician showed up with an attitude of not wanting to be here. We had a minor leak and whenever I asked him questions, he either started mumbling or could not explain what was going on. He just did not seem to care. While servicing our second unit, he said we had a clogged pipe and he mentioned we should service it more regularly. When I said this was just serviced a few months ago by Lions and questioned whether the drains were checked then, he said that was not him and not his problem. I actually called Lions Enterprise to complain while they were there and the person who answered the phone said he would call me back once he has reviewed the full case file after the service call. However, it has been a few days now and I have not heard back. I am giving 2 stars because despite the frustrating experience, the minor leak has stopped. I am just not sure whatever the issue was is fully addressed.

I was very impressed with the two technicians, Andre and his helper. They where very proffessional and extremely neat and clean. I have built in cabinets surrounding my A/C unit and they were very careful to disassemble my doors and put them back properly. I would definitely recommend them!
-
Very unprofessional A/C service, terrible customer service and dishonest billing!!!
Called for a repair of ONE leaking PTAC unit. Two technicians came and tried to diagnose the problem. After about 20 minutes they finished and couldn't explain what the problem was. They took all the information about the unit and stated that someone will call me back. I never received any phone calls.
A month later I received the invoice and my cc was charged for
$522.60. The invoice description was "Clean and check 4 A/C
units". I called the company. They promised that someone will call me back. They never did. I decided to send them an email
and request to speak with the manager or supervisor. Kimberly Foster, accounting manager, responded saying that they need to
investigate and they will respond by the next day. And again nobody either called or sent answer. -
Don’t hire these guys. Their workers are disgusting. They came to our property to install a unit. They unpacked it outside and left all their garbage including their lunch that you see on camera the worker get it from his truck and just dump it on the floor for the super to clean up.
What a joke… no wonder this company has 3 stars… -
Very professional!
