I love Chelsea Garden Center. They have such a gorgeous selection of plants and their staff is super knowledgeable! I’ve seen some comments complaining about the price, but what do you all expect? They are beautiful, quality plants, and several of them (mostly the tropicals and indoor plants) probably travel from out of state, so of course they’re a bit more expensive! Like hello!!!! you pay for quality, people! Nothing but love for Chelsea, every time I’ve come I leave happy :)

This place is great. The staff is super helpful (Linda is amazing and spent 30 minutes with us and gave us much-needed insight into a variety of types of plants and how we should plant our new outdoor space.) They have such an extensive selection, especially for the city where it can be hard to find a really good range of plants and pots.

We came in from PA to help our daughter do some planting and yard work in Brooklyn. (We're all vaccinated.) Everything was fully stocked, quality of the plants and selection was very impressive. As with everything about NYC its always amazing the places you can find and how its managed with limited space. The staff was very nice and helpful especially considering everything with COVID. Hats off to them for their patience and energy. Prices are obviously city prices and not PA countryside prices but my wife and daughter had fun picking things out together.

They do an amazing job on gardening designs and services. I am so happy with my backyard, they exceeded all expectations. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning in the future for more plants.

I’ve been shopping at the redhook location for the last few years. The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable and the selection is far superior to any other garden shops in the NYC area.

There are plenty of awesome and professional nursery's in Brooklyn - this isn't one of them. We bought four Scout Maiden Grasses which began to curl and die the day after purchasing. We called the garden center 2 days after purchase and was advised by Alex to cut the curled top and keep watering the plants generously, which we did. When we followed up with Alex via email to request an exchange of plants that were clearly dying at the point of sale, we did not receive a response. When we followed up again, he accused us of not caring for the plants properly and said we exceeded time for a refund/exchange. You can't make this up. Don't waste your time. We ended up back charging the purchase, went to a different nursery, and now have a beautiful garden to enjoy.

Excellent selection. Like, so many. Of both house and outdoor. Folks seem attentive to the plants and were friendly!

Everyone is so friendly, knowledgeable and patient! I found exactly what I needed. They have a great selection of terra cotta planters.

The cons: Don’t come here expecting anybody to spend time helping you unless you’re spending a ton of money. I’ve had staff walk away from me while I was asking questions because they were “too busy”. The manager is patronizing. Others are willing to answer one question, but then run away and lose patience with you.

The pros: hard to find a better selection of plants in Brooklyn. The price is probably appropriate for the quality and selection and lack of other convenient options. Just don’t expect any help.

I came upon this place by chance. The staff were so kind and helpful and knowledgeable. I came in looking for low-light, low-maintenance indoor plants and the young lady helping me immediately was able to recommend several types of plants within my budget. The nursery is very well organized, clean and presentable. My one suggested to any other customers is to allow for extra time here as they are very good with maintaining social distancing guidelines. I felt very at-ease while I was browsing and didn't have to worry about others getting in my personal space which was so nice. I look forward to coming back and buying some plants

Recently stopped into CGC as my apartment needed some livening up w/ some plant friends. Excellent options and very knowledgable staff. Plenty of street parking nearby as well!
