Landscaping reviews in Brooklyn, New York

Great experience all around. The team worked fast and everything came out great!

Jesse and team did a great job on our fencing and planter project. The team was friendly, efficient and the output looked great. Would recommend!

Very disappointed by their selectiveness based on your survey that needs to be filled out on their site. 1) I don’t know what my project will cost so I chose the 11k-30k tier as a starter 2) location I added in Queens. I left them a voicemail as well. No response whatsoever. So unprofessional, this was a word of mouth on one of their existing clients which I definitely let them know as well as to being baffled for not being within Brooklyn/Manhattan & not selecting anything over $30k.
Update: Fast forward few days later called them over and over finally someone picks up. She verified they do not work on projects under $40k and has to be Brooklyn or Manhattan. Her exact words “our projects start at $40k and above”
Then why do you even have a selection for pricing? Your judgement based on socioeconomics is bad enough, just state your projects are only for those spending $100k.
Also for those looking to update their backyards please be sure to shop around. I was able to find a different firm that sources out different teams dependent on materials/look&feel for both my home and Airbnb property for less than $50k. Including an outdoor kitchenette. -
Have worked with New Eco on two projects in Brooklyn. Each project went above and beyond our expectations. New Eco provided great value and the team was easy to work with. Highly recommend them.

These guys built the outdoor area for my restaurant and couldn't have been more happy. They were communicative, punctual and the work was done fast and clean. Nothing but good things to say, the price was seemed fair compared to other bids and the work/process along the end product reflected it. Jesse also assisted with ideas and design recommendations from experience which was an extra help.

I contacted New Eco Landscapes after seeing their projects online. We have a small (urban) front garden that needed help. New Eco Landscapes did a superb job from start to finish. At the initial appointment, partner Jesse Terzi suggested possible plantings while keeping our budget in mind. The friendly, professional planting team arrived as scheduled and did a great job. We now have a garden that continues to delight us and our neighbors.

Jesse and his team did a top notch, modern, professional job and did this all remotely from NYC for our property in California. They provided on-time services for our agreed budget including multiple design iterations, material selection, and construction documents. Then, they worked with us to find and interview installers. I would highly recommend them and would be happy to work with them again.

Jesse and his team did a fantastic job with designing and installing planters with trees, shrubs and flowers, as well as irrigation and lighting for our terrace.
The design process went smoothly. they were responsive to our requests and questions. With any home improvement project such as this one, it's great when you're learning along the way as you design, and we thought the interaction was very good: timely responses to emails, quick updates to design renderings and clear communication overall.
The installation was professional; the team was thorough and careful when installing the irrigation system under the terrace tiles and they put everything right back in its place when they were done. Once the work was started and we saw the setup, we realized we wanted to make some changes based on available sunlight. They were accommodating and flexible -- they gave us a bunch of options and it all fell into place. -
We love New Eco! They did an incredible job with our original landscaping for our roof decks and we now use them for maintenance and spring/fall cleanups. It is always amazing to see the before and after! And always a pleasure to work with, highly recommend!

Avi, Jesse and the team at New Eco Landscape were great! Consummate professionals, they listened to our vision for our rooftop and designed the space exactly as we asked and made wonderful suggestions for furniture, landscaping (specific plants suited for NY year round climate), and overall layout. It looks amazing and was within budget!

New Eco did an amazing job with our Brooklyn terrace garden. The team was awesome to work with on scoping and installing the project. We really appreciated the commitment to cleanliness, their professionalism, high quality of work, flexibility with changes to the design, and timelines. They left the terrace spotless every day, and we absolutely love the finished product. Completely transformed our space!!

I have been a New Eco client for 8 years. Originally I enlisted their help in redesigning all my outdoor space. The project required design, demolition, construction, landscaping, and planting. The results were fabulous and the envy of all my neighbors.Since then I have used New Eco's services for updated landscaping, as well as fall and spring cleanups. New Eco's crews are great, and easy to work with , always on time, polite, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile. Just overall a fabulous service provider.

Our ‘new’ backyard landscaping and deck looks amazing and we will be looking forward to spring and planting season! Your team was awesome, timely and we appreciate all the hard work, especially on some of those cold days. We would definitely recommend without hesitation!

Chris at Brooklyn Landscape Design just finished adding Bluestone Pavers to my backyard and really did a phenomenal job. He was so great to work with, we spoke about what I wanted and he executed it to perfection and in mere days. He transformed our wasteland of a backyard into new living space for our home. We love our backyard patio! One of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor.

Wonderful to work with! Sera and her team are all very knowledgeable and always do a fantastic job. Highly recommend Red Fern.

A mixed experience. Sera herself was respectful and friendly. Emailed when she was late. She seemed knowledgeable and passionate. However, working with the business itself was a nightmare.
TLDR: The communication was mixed to poor. I felt led on after over a month of exchanges in which I had detailed the work early on with photos, and even received starting quotes, and then was told at the very end that they it was not a good fit. Exchanges with the assistant felt shady. In the end I am where I started, but almost two months into growing season. This business is probably not a good fit for anyone looking for something other than a cookie cutter package (aka pruning and mulching), or a $$$ total design/redo.
The long version: I emailed an inquiry April 24th for maintenance. Sera replied promptly with pricing packages and availability in the 2nd week of May. I agreed to the timing and asked about drip irrigation, and her assistant sent me a starting quote. They also requested detailed photos and description of the work, which I emailed to them May 1st. May 7th I still had not heard from them about a time to come by, so I circled back. May 15th, I circled back again. I asked for recommendations if they were swamped or not interested in the work anymore. No hard feelings. Later that day I got a response from Sera and her assistant set up a time with me for Thursday the 25th at 5pm. I agreed to the date. It's a week after the agreed upon time frame, but progress?
May 23rd rolls around and the assistant "circles back" to me about the same day an hour later. I ask if they received my email confirming the original date, not wanting to assume the scheduling was poor. The assistant doubles down saying 6pm is the only possible time and there have been schedule shifts. It's starting to feel shady now. Why are you circling back on a confirmed appointment with a change in timing? If you didn't see my email, why not just tell the truth? But fine. We all have our moments.
Sera comes on the appointed day. We chat about all the work that needs to be done. It is now the end of May, so I have done the spring pruning and mulching. My focus is on big picture maintenance. Controlling bamboo, pruning vines, weeding beds, replacing dead bushes, redoing the drip irrigation. Sera tells me she will be in touch with an estimate after the weekend. All seems fine.
Except I never heard from her or the assistant. By thursday of the next week I emailed to see if she had had a chance to make the estimate. I received this response June 2nd, " Thank you for following up. We have a fine gardening maintenance program that focuses on the health of the total garden. We offer package services. Unfortunately, we don’t do piecemeal projects, especially those unrelated to plants. A good place to seek help for the work you need help with is TaskRabbit or another freelance manual labor service. Best of luck with your garden this season!"
Piecemeal projects unrelated to plants? Is this in regards to the drip irrigation they clearly do, seeing as they sent a quote to me in April? Is it piecemeal because I did the spring pruning and mulching myself (Fellow gardeners, remember it's June 2nd at this point). Am I being gaslit?
I gave them the benefit of the doubt again. I emailed saying perhaps there was a mistake, Sera and I had come up with a plan, and perhaps they were thinking of someone else. At this point Sera intervened and explained that Red Fern looks for jobs with ongoing maintenance. Her email was cordial and she was generous to send me a link for material I would need to handle the bamboo.
My question is this - if I sent photos and detailed descriptions of everything that was left after the initial spring clean up May 1st, and received a quote for the drip irrigation April 27th, why was it June 2nd that my garden is not a match for the business and I must start over again? I'm still not even sure how the work is outside the scope of their package. Also if it was a good working relationship, I would have come back for Fall/Spring cleanup. -
Red Fern Brooklyn owner wields her vast knowledge of plants and innate design talent to shape spaces that tell a story. She is a great person and delivers on bringing enjoyable gardens for living and work spaces to life.
-
This is the actual rating of the quality of Red Fern’s work. It is artistic, thoughtful and serene. The, now blank review from the spite-filled, unhinged one star reviewer did not even have work done by this company. This is how quality businesses are impacted by false reviewers.

Sera and her company Red Fern Brooklyn are the definition of excellence on every level. Sera is a true artist with a passion for every aspect of her work and her creations are masterpieces. She's also a pleasure to work and it's abundantly clear from the very first interaction that she cares deeply about her clients and projects and she goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. I cannot recommend Sera and Red Fern more highly!
