For tree service, tree cutting, and tree trimming, I highly recommend Brooklyn-based Roots &. Alec is knowledgeable about the most up-to-date methods for pruning, trimming, and caring for trees, including ‘imperfect” trees like mine. He took the time to figure out the health of my two backyard trees, and mapped out a plan for trimming them for their maximum health. I’m happy with the results, and feel relieved to have found someone who can care for trees in the city.

I had Jake come out to try to save a beloved, yet dying tree. He immediately spotted the issue (our error), corrected course, and then gave me some tips to try to support our tree's recovery. Fingers-crossed the it pulls through.

I can not speak highly enough about these guys! We had half of our backyard tree come down from a wind storm while we were out of the country on vacation. They put us to ease that this could be taken care of. We set up a date for them to come remove the downed part. They showed up on time and well prepared. The branch covered 3 Brooklyn backyards. They removed every bit with absolutely no damage to the properties. I was amazed when they swung the final piece into our yard to finish the job.
It was important to us that we hired someone that we could relate with and not a company that just looked at the job as business. Super nice guys! Plus, they all work at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens which we love!

I have worked with Alec, Jake, and Travis from this company and can't recommend their enthusiasm, attention to detail, and overall care with which they go about their jobs. They are great educators as well. I run a busy urban park in Brooklyn with some very old trees. I can always trust they will do the right thing and help teach my staff in the process.

The most friendly and helpful arborists!! I needed a ton of work done in my backyard, and had a lot of trouble finding the right company to come in a timely manner and charge a decent price. I found lively oak and they sent a wonderful guy named Jake who took care of everything in one afternoon for less than I’d been quoted by any of the other groups I’d contacted.

Jake came and helped us with a tree that was growing into our neighbor's property. He was kind, knowledgeable and affordable. He got the job done in great time and our tree looks healthier (and spiffier) already.

We are very pleased with the work done by Jake Nader of Lively Oak and would hire him again for more work on the trees around our house. We have a 20-year-old dogwood tree in our back yard that had never been pruned. Jake expertly pruned the tree, which had branches extending into neighboring yards, preserving the esthetics of the tree while enabling the tree to continue to thrive and scaling back the encroachment into our neighbor’s yards. He consulted with us and explained what he was doing every step of the way. He arrived on time, collected the debris and bundled it for pick up by sanitation. A perfect job.

Jake from Lively Oak was incredibly helpful! He was able to give me actionable information on each of my trees, helping me know which ones need further inspection and which are growing fine.
