John Betlem Heating & Cooling

Very mixed experience here. In short, I fell like I really got swindled but the salesman.

Our furnace unexpectedly stopped working and I called John Betlem because it was on my thermostat.

Everyone on the phone was super nice and accommodating.

Brady came out and was extremely helpful. He answered all my questions and gave me time to call my husband. A part on our 8 year old furnace broke and was going to be a large amount for a repair. We wanted to get a quote for a new furnace to weigh the options.

Mike came out very quickly, with in 30 minutes. He was very nice and friendly. Unfortunately, I felt very pressured to make a decision right then. I asked if I could wait until my husband got home from work to decide, which was in 2 hours. He said if we waited then he could not guarantee anything. During this time he was making comments about how much money my husband must make with his profession.

He then told me that typically a furnace lasts 10-15 years. I made the decision to go ahead with the furnace. Toward the end I realized that the monthly payment he quoted me was actually the minimum payment. This is my fault for not understanding, but he really was not clear initally about this.
He also did not give us the space heaters he had said were in the car. I’m sure if we called back they would have brought them, but we did only have to wait 4 days, which was great.

Mike gave us one option of installation time. Luckily my mom was able to come and accommodate that time. The tech installing the furnace let her know that on average a furnace lasts 20 years. Very disappointing to hear.

I really feel like I was taken advantage of. I learned some important lessons as a first time home owner. Please be careful with the decisions that you are making with a sales associate.
