Words cannot say enough about the professionalism of Tommy and Sosha Lubbers.when an Elm tree came over onto our roof, I called them because we had used them several years ago and we were very pleased with the quality of their work. Sosha came out and gave her professional assessment and put us on a priority list. Then Tommy and his crew came and did a great job removing the tree. Their precision and attention to safety was so obvious. These guys are the real deal and they didn’t disappoint. Thank you, thank you so much.

Excellent work By Tommy, Joe, Damon and Sosha (for keeping in touch). Cleared a mass of wisteria from a broken oak and felled the tree. 6 hours of trimming, cutting, aerial acrobatics on ropes, cleaning up, hauling the bigger logs over to our woodyard.

She helped us save a stressed out oak tree on our new-build property and worked closely with us to choose additional trees that not only appealed to us but were ideal for our location and soil conditions.

Sosha took the time to meet with us at our home, listening to our vision and helping us design a natural screen with the right mix of native and ornamental trees. She provided thoughtful advice on how many trees we needed and their placement for the best visual impact. Throughout the process, Sosha was super responsive to all our questions and concerns, sharing her deep knowledge about native trees and their long-term care.

When it was time to plant, Tommy and his crew were equally impressive. They worked with us to determine the best layout for the trees, taking the time to move them around until we were satisfied. The planting was meticulous and Tommy even pruned the trees for long-term success. He walked us through detailed care instructions, explained what to watch for as the trees grow, and even gave me a quick pruning lesson, which I really appreciated.

The quality of the trees we received was fantastic. The magnolias even had flowers on them when planted, and our mix of crepe myrtles, cryptomeria, weeping cherry, and redbuds are all happy. Sosha followed up with an aftercare sheet, ensuring we felt supported every step of the way.

I am incredibly satisfied with the work done by Lubbers & Sons Tree Care on my property! They expertly cut down extremely large maple trees in my fenced in back yard, one that had fallen after the recent rains and storms we have had and another that was dead in some areas, and if it fell, would have fallen on our house. The crew was professional, efficient, and cleaned up everything thoroughly. Their communication was excellent and they were very knowledgeable with what they were doing. Tommy & Socha are an amazing duo. They tackled a tough old cedar tree that had to be removed limb by limb first, followed by block cutting the main trunk. This was no ordinary cedar. It was gnarled and thick, so much so that I had them leave the last 15 feet as a natural sculpture. Tommy even fought off some yellow jackets nesting in the ground at the base. All this accomplished on two of the hottest days of the summer (late July, 2022). The next day, Tommy and his son precisely dropped a large pine away from a barn over which it was slightly leaning. Tom removed a some larger branches before making the cut, resulting in virtually no damage to the yard beneath the tree. I made a video of the whole drop and still can hardly believe how well it went. I recommend Lubbers & Sons Tree Care with absolutely no reservations!

Crew was professional and worked efficiently and safely during our tree removals. They also did root decompaction services and were good about debris cleanup. Will use again.

I was very impressed with Sosha and the crew. They were easy to get in touch with, quick to schedule a site visit and professional with their estimates and invoices. Their pricing is fair and also very clear. I appreciated that they gave me a range of pricing options, clearly delineated, based on the amount of work. I also valued that they clearly care about the trees and the ecosystem as a whole. And finally, they were just a pleasure to have on site. They're thoughtful and very skilled. They dropped the trees precisely where they said they would, not swiping a single branch from neighboring trees - IMPRESSIVE! All of their work felt safe and managed with high competency and the right tools. I highly recommend them!

I cannot say enough good things about this company! They are prompt, professional and very knowledgeable about tree disease, care, pruning and removal. Sosha also took the time to help us identify the trees on our new property and discuss future plans of management. In addition they are affordable! They are based in Chapel Hill, but make the trek to Hillsborough to help us out. Amazing experience with this company.

Tommy and the team came out and removed a midsized hackberry and pruned a pecan. They did a great job! Looks like someone plucked the tree out like a weed, no debris or land disturbance noted. Great price, excellent service. Communication is clear and easy. I've used them for multiple projects now, and I will always recommend the Lubbers and Sons team for tree work!

While we love our heavily wooded lot - we were somewhat overwhelmed by the number of trees and other plants when we first moved in. We spoke to a number of arborists to help us manage them - and couldn't be happier with the work that Lubbers has done. The first time we met Sosha and Tommy, we spent nearly an hour with them identifying all of the different species of trees and shrubs in our lot. They identified a few trees that needed pruning or removal - but were not overly aggressive or salesy. Tree management is tricky because it's easy to be intimidated or scared that a tree might fall and cause damage or injury - so it's really important to hire a company that you trust. I trust Lubbers and highly recommend them. Their pricing is also very reasonable compared to other similar companies.

After a storm caused damage to multiple trees in our yard, they were quick to respond, scheduled with ease and completed work on time and for a fair price. Communication and estimates were clear, easy to understand and work was completed as stated. With their understanding (and love) of trees, and what's needed, I'd highly recommend working with them.

Great service. Best price among 5 estimates. Instead of removing the 88 year old oak they recommended pruning branches to avoid hitting the house. "It's a healthy tree; no need to cut the entire oak down." And of course we saved about 3 thousand dollars. Thanks Lubbers for a job well done.

Many of the older oaks in Westwood are stressed and some dying. As we feel connected to our oak elders, we needed knowledgeable and compentent help to walk us through our plans to take out an old tree, perilously close to our house. We received kind attention during our planning and vision and safety in execution. We highly recommend Lubbers and sons.

Lubbers & Sons gave me a reasonable quote in writing and were able to remove the tree the next day. Quick, safe, and efficient. Great clean up too. Very friendly and professional. I have seen them work on larger projects in my neighborhood and I was so impressed.

Lubbers & Sons Tree care did an amazing job pruning and removing several large trees that were right off our screened in porch. The team worked so efficiently, that I could hardly stop watching them. What is even more amazing is that they were the lowest-bid among several tree companies and by far the most knowledgeable. The whole process from quote-to-completion-to -cleanup was very smooth. Lubbers and Sons Tree Care took down two really large lightning-struck trees for us recently. The experience, though sad for the loss of the big oak, was made very easy by the professionalism of the company. The tree guys were amazingly efficient, accommodating of several special requests, and left the yard clean and tidy. The scheduling and communications with the office staff was equally professional and easy – not always the case. The value for the work done was remarkable, close to half the cost for other estimates. I highly recommend them.

I felt compelled to share my experience with this company, as it was unfortunately very disappointing.
We hired this team a few days ago for an estimate and cleaning today. Unfortunately from the start of the day, the experience was unprofessional and frustrating. I fully understand that schedules can sometimes change, but the lack of communication and respect for our time was truly upsetting.
We scheduled the appointment five days in advance, and I had confirmed the details with the owner, Melissa, who offered us the first slot of the morning. We agreed on a mid-morning time, during which they were supposed to arrive, provide an estimate, and complete the cleaning all at once. To accommodate this, my entire household reorganized our schedules for the day, making sure everything was ready and prepared for the cleaners.
However, when the scheduled time came, we hadn't heard from the company, so I reached out to confirm their arrival. I was informed that the team would be running late. Almost two hours later, Melissa let me know that they had taken a larger job elsewhere, and unfortunately, they wouldn’t be able to make it to our appointment at all. She did apologize, explaining that they had overestimated the size of another job, but this still left me feeling disappointed.
While I appreciate her honesty, the lack of clear communication, follow-through, and the total disregard for the time we had set aside for this appointment was frustrating. I checked in several times throughout the day to try and get an updated timeframe, but received very little information. After waiting nearly two hours, we were finally told that rescheduling might be necessary. This was after we had planned our entire day around this appointment and were left in limbo for hours.
I understand that things can go wrong, but what was most troubling was the lack of proactive communication or effort to resolve the situation. And why would I be offered a morning slot when there was a crew going to clean elsewhere. And, If we had been kept in the loop from the start, it would have made a huge difference.
Overall, I’m disappointed by the experience, especially after taking time off work and preparing for the service. I would have appreciated more respect for our time, clearer communication, and a more professional approach. While I can't recommend this company based on this experience, I do hope they can improve their scheduling and communication practices in the future.
