So happy my mother finally got the courage to tell her home warranty company, to not send this company out again. I am not on here to speak down on Sub Zero Heating and Cooling, but only going off of experience with this company. This company has left us in a hot house for almost two months. The sad part is, this is the same way they did us last year. Not diagnosing the a/c unit correctly. Last year, had us waiting to get the air fixed for two months stating, "the home warranty company have to order the part". A part that this year the home warranty company has no record of ordering. Which proves it was all lies. I explained to them last year it's small children who live in the home and even with fans on, the house was still at 90 degrees and they still didn't care. The lady Eva (unsure if thats how you spell her name is pretty nice). The man is rude, very, very rude. Eva, last year was trying to explain something to us about "what was wrong our unit" and he walked in our home without speaking and rushed her out. Stating, "COME ON LETS GO, WE HAVE TO GO NOW!!!!" Anywho we have an other company coming out to tomorrow. Say no to Sub Zero lol! They are no heroes lol

    DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR!!!
We had American Home Shield setup our service request. The first appointment was set for the evening of May 17 (3PM to 7PM). This appointment was rescheduled. Sub-Zero never gave us a reason why. My wife and I cleared our schedules and waited ll day for nothing. The next appointment wasn't even for the next day. Sub-Zero was able to make it out to our house on the 21st. Two people showed up. A man and a woman. The woman sat with my wife while the man inspected our A/C. The woman explained how American Home Shield and Sub-Zero interacted and how payments work. Nothing really about what was wrong with our home. My wife told me that the guy was dismissive and rude. The guy added some sealant and 3lbs of freon at $105 per pound. AHS only paid $10 per pound leaving the remaining $285 for us to pay out of pocket.
A few days later we noticed that our A/C was struggling to keep our home cool. We called AHS to have Sub-Zero return. This time Sub-Zero came in went straight to the attic. Again showing very little for customer service. A moment later he leaves after telling my wife that he was going to "write it up" and file it with AHS. Leaving us with no idea what was wrong with our A/C. We then got a notice from American Home Shield that we would need to pay $900 for non covered items. I reached out to AHS for an itemized list of these items and was promptly instructed to contact Sub-Zero for that info. I ended up having to send them an email for the list. The list gave us a break down of the non covered items but lacked an explanation for why they were needed. I replied to the email and again asked for the why. The response from Sub-Zero was strange and lacking content. "Not a problem Sir. Please tell me what you need to know..."
I was tired of going back and forth with Sub-Zero and cancelled the work order.
We then called a family friend that is a state certified A/C and electrical contractor for a second opinion. It turned out that Sub-Zero didn't address both of our outside units. The unit that they looked (on the side of our house) was in fine condition. The A/C unit that was in need of attention was in our fenced in, locked backyard.
Do yourself a favor and avoid using this company.

    HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE & CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
This company did not properly communicate with me that they had cancelled my appointment to install my a/c until after being without a/c for 3 weeks
I was contacted by Subzero Heating & Cooling on 5/14/14 after contacting my home warranty company of needing my a/c unit checked because the unit was not cooling my home. Subzero came out to my property on 5/19/14 & informed me that my a/c unit would have to be replaced & ordered thru my warranty company & they could install it. I was notified on 5/22/14 that the unit had been ordered & delivered to SubZero & that I would have to pay $950 for uncovered charges to Subzero. I contacted SubZero on 5/27/14 to schedule an appointment for them to come out & install my a/c unit on 5/29/14. After waiting to hear from SubZero in regards to coming to install my unit on 5/29/14, I began calling SubZero to see if they were still coming and never got an answer. After I contacted my warranty company, Subzero finally called me back around 7pm stating that they were notified to send my a/c unit back & cancelled my appointment & they wouldn't be able to schedule another appointment until 6/3/14. Not once did they contact me to tell me that they were cancelling my appointment & did not apololgize for the fact that I've been without a/c for almost 3 weeks in 90+ degree weather!! Once Subzero finally came out on 6/3/14, they could install the a/c unit but they could not connect it b/c they are not licensed electricians & can't do the electrical work. I contacted an electriciain to come out & they asked if I could have Subzero contact them to let them know what type of electrical work neededd to be done when they came out & they would come out on 6/4/14 to connect the unit. I spoke with Elvia at Subzero & asked her to contact the electrician for me. Elvia stated that she would. Elvia also left me a voice mail on 6/3/14 stating that they would come back out after the electrician did the work to make sure the unit was working properly. I spoke with Elvia on 6/4/14 around 9am to confirm that Subzero would come back out after 2pm to make sure the unit was working properly after the electrician connected it. I contacted the electrical company around 12:30pm on 6/4/14 to determine what time they were coming to connect the unit & they stated that Subzero never contacted them as I requested on 6/3/14 to let them know what type of electrical work needed to be done. I called Subzero at least 8 times with no answer & had my warranty compnay contact them so they would call me back. Elvia finally called me back & stated that she just spoke with the electrical company 20 minutes ago & forgot to call them on 6/3/14 as I requested because it slipped her mind & she got too busy!! Elvia also stated that "if it was important enough then the electrical company should've called her!!" I explained to Elvia that it was imporatant enough which is why I/THE CUSTOMER contacted her & asked her to call them!!! I then told her that I've been without a/c for going on 3 weeks now & she then stated that she's been without a/c for a month!! I also told her that I feel as though she is very unprofessional & as a customer who has paid them almost $1,000 to have my a/c unit working, she or the company should not be discussing how she doesn't have a/c either & it slipped her mind to call the electrician!! I asked her why didn't she tell me she that wasn't able to call the electrician as she said she would & she only said it slipped her mind!!! Now I am going to be without a/c for almost 3 plus weeks in over 90 degree weather!! I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN, NOR REFER THEM TO ANYONE!! BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY & THEIR HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! THEY DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE WHEN YOU NEED THEM!!

After waiting forever for the first company (starts with Blanken...) to call me back from a home warranty claim, they got me in touch with these guys. They were punctual and courteous and wanted to get my AC working again. Everything is working like a champ now! Highly recommend!

I would NOT recommend this company under any circumstances. My home warranty company used them for a furnace repair, they came out, diagnosed the problem and then later told me the part was on backorder. In the meantime we went without heat for a WEEK with 20-degree weather at night. I finally got fed up, called another company, they immediately located the part and came and installed it within hours.

Worst company ever! I had to fire them from a job because they said they fixed the problem with the AC unit but never did, but still charged me for the repair.

Claimed the compressor unit had gone bad - so they replaced it. They charged my home warranty company for the replacement: there was an "non covered charge" for disposing of the unit, which was $85. They left the unit at my house and never disposed of it properly - I took pictures of the unit sitting in my yard and sent it to my home warranty company as they claimed I owed them for the disposal fee.

1.5 years later - a collection agency contacted me wanting the payment. I tried explaining the situation but to no avail. Threatened to take me to court... Sent them pictures and even called and spoke to the lady at sub zero but she claimed I owed them the money and wouldn't even listen to my side and threatened to take me to court. I felt it was easier to just pay the bill then to be drug through the mud and loose my home warranty due to "failure to pay a non covered charge".
I'll be discussing this with my lawyer and will be taking them up on the offer to go to court.

Oh, btw, I had the second company that came out and did the job right, test the compressor that was left at my house - the one sub zero claimed didn't work and charged the home warranty company to replace snd me to dispose of - and low and behold there was nothing wrong with it!

Stay far far away. This company is scum!

I agree with the other negative reviews here. This company is incredibly slow, does not communicate well, will not answer the phone, and only returns calls on their time table. Hopefully you don't have HSA as a home warranty either. Sub Zero works with them and you don't want to work with either company. My experience trying to work with both has been a nightmare. Find other companies to give your business. Roll the dice with ANYONE else...it can't be worse than my experience with this company.

Communications with this company is awful. They do not call when they are on their way to your house, just expect you to be there between a 3-4 hour timeframe. The did not disclose the fact that their Service Call rates went up from the previous month. They have had to come back out to our house 3 different times since they replaced a part. They also left me without A/C for 2 days in the middle of the summer, without warning. Would not recommend this company.

I would not use Sub Zero. No communication or customer service with this company. We actually ended up switching companies and paying more to have our heat fix than use them. Never can get in touch with them and I felt like I was an inconvenience when I called, even though I was the one freezing with no heat!! We ended up with them due to our Home Warranty company, glad we could switch to a better company to have our new unit installed!

They showed up when they said they would and they fixed what they said they would fix. There turned out to be a wiring issue, but it wasn't because of anything that they did. An electrician came and found out there was a bad circuit leading to the gas and thermostat. Also they ordered replacement parts and repaired things that other reputable HVAC dealers told me were unfixable.

I contacted them through Cinch Home Warranty.

more of the same as you've read out here already. 17 year old central air system, Home Warranty company sent them out to look at why the upstairs unit was not turning on. They resolved that (bad switch and capacitor) but followed up saying that there was a leak in the evaporator coil ($450 or thereabouts) and it needs to be replaced. Goes on to say that they cannot replace the evaporator coil without replacing the condenser coil ($3300!!!) as well. Home Warranty company said ok fine, but we are only going to pay for the evaporator since that is broken.

I call the Home Warranty company, put in another claim to get a 2nd opinion. The second company said that 1. we replace just evaporator coils all the time and 2. the Freon was low - he topped it off and added a sealant. Done.

So while Sub Zero's assessment was correct (leak in the coil) - they could have presented some options instead of $4000 coil replacements on a 17 year old system.

There are better options out there folks - do your homework!!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. THE LADY WHO ANSWERS THE PHONE CALLED ME THE B-WORD. I think 1 star is even too much. I used them because my home warranty company gave me their company. My heater was out for the second time in two weeks. The first time it was because of a bad compressor that was then replaced. When they came out they found that the heat strips were broken. They replaced them one afternoon and I didnt return home until late that night so I went straight to bed. The next morning I woke up to a 57 degree house and when I went and looked at my thermostat the screen was completely blank. I checked to see if there was maybe a dead battery, but the thermostat had no battery and it was wired up to power and to the outside unit. I went out and checked all the circuit breakers and they were all fine. The outside heating unit was not running at all. So I called my home warranty company and voiced my concerns about SubZero having messed something up when they replaced my heat strips. They told me to call SubZero because they would have to be the ones to get someone out there to fix it. I called SubZero before they opened and left a message. I then called them about 20 minutes after they opened because I was hoping to get heat back that same day. I told the lady what had happened, but she said that it was obviously an electrical issue and that I needed to file a new claim with my warranty to get an electrician to come out. I told her it seemed highly unlikely that what had happened was just a coincidence. As I continued to let her know that I though SubZero had done something wrong and needed to fix it, she got noticeably more angry. After arguing for a few minutes, she called me a "stupid b*****" and hung up on me. To top things off she called my warranty company and told them that they would no longer be servicing my address and that I was being argumentative/threatening towards them. Because of that they were hesitant to send anyone else out to my house. I told my warranty company what happened and they then said that they would send someone out because it sounded like she was in the wrong. My thing is, why would they keep using that company if that is how their employees act? So unproffesional.

Great company! Our furnace went out during a snow storm and they were able to fix it within 24 hours. They were extremely knowledgeable about our unit and they gave us tips for maintaining the furnace during extreme temperatures. I highly recommend you contact this company. Very professional as well.

I have been without air conditioner since April 17th when they came to get the so-called one part. I called them on May 3rd she was very rude to me I'll call you when I get your parts. The parts weren't even ordered until May 1st after I call my homeowner's warranty to find out what was going on. It's 88 degrees in my house and I have a dog inside that I cannot take with me to work. the owner called me May 3rd that evening and let me know they would be here today May 4th from 2 to 6 p.m. we are at 6:30 she has not responded to my phone calls nor my text messages. I'm contacting the attorney general and my private attorney! I have called my HMS home warranty and I have requested a new service provider. Yes I will have to pay another hundred dollar deductible. But I will be taking Subzero LLC to small claims court in North Carolina. Is there anyone else who would like to get in on this lawsuit?

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS, I would do that. The tech came out, cut off the unit, and left. The company has not followed up to discuss what needs to be done to the unit although they came out almost three hours ago. They havent even followed up with the home warranty company with their diagnosis. The company will show up but will not follow up in a timely manner. Customer Service is key to running a good business. I will be requesting my home warranty company to take this contractor off the list. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Th e worst experience I've ever had!! These guys were assigned to me by a Home Warranty company and took 5 days to even call me. When they did finally call I told them I had a friend coming to look at it since they took so long and asked who I'd need to call to cancel the repair if he was able to fix it. They gave me the wrong phone number to call and showed up anyway. When I told them I had canceled they said they never got a message from me and that I would be charged anyway. Im now being billed by my home Warranty company for $125 for absolutely nothing. They do not return phone calls or treat you like a person, they are very rude ad total scam artists. I can tell by the very poor comments and reviews here that This is a common theme for them and my next call will be to my Home Warranty to ask why they have a contract with such an awful untrustworthy company and then to my lawyer because im not paying $125 for absolutely nothing.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - I got referred to them via my Cinch home warranty, I read all the negative reviews on here but hoped for the best. It was a nightmare, completely incompetent. Caused me countless hours of work with the warranty company to get it straightened out. Beware you will regret using them. Call warranty company and get referred to a different HVAC Co, you will be much happier.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone using this company!! My Home Warranty Company sent them out for a service call. In 10 minutes of being on site said it was the compressor (I knew that) my problem with them is they wanted to charge me for 12 pounds of Freon on a Unit if u pull up the tech specs and look on the plate stamped on the unit it clearly says 96oz max compactly. .

I would give zero stars if possible. We are still dealing with the damages this company did to our furnace over a week ago. Subzero (Elvia and Kevin) came to fix a cooling coil on our furnace through the HMS warranty. However, after they removed the coil, they showed me a crack in the heat exchanger (which resides under the coil in the furnace). Upon inspection after they left, this crack was obviously caused by a flat head screwdriver that had been hammered to cause or accentuate the crack. We've had two different companies confirm that this was not a normal crack and was caused by someone on purpose.

Subzero also said that we'd have to have our entire furnace replaced because the heat exchanger was not under warranty. This is untrue. A simple check on the serial number shows that the heat exchanger is in fact covered and we don't need to have the entire furnace replaced.

Subzero already cashed the check for the cooling coil replacement but has NOT DONE THE WORK and is refusing to refund the money. We've been off work for two days and on phone calls dealing with the company and with HMS warranty company. Elvia and Kevin came out again while my husband was here and argued with him over the damages. Kevin said that he had not been here during the initial visit and that he'd have to speak with the technician that did the work. Since my husband was not here during the first visit, he wasn't sure if this was the case. However, this was not true as it was in fact Kevin that was here doing the initial work.

My husband just called today to get back in touch and after answering, someone said "It's the a**hole about the heat exchanger" and proceeded to hang up on him.

We have seen numerous bad reviews about this company on other sites. When told about all the bad reviews, Elvia told us to check out the good reviews on Yelp. Funny enough, when we visited Yelp, one of the five good reviews are from her and all of the four really bad reviews are hidden.

Stay FAR FAR AWAY from this company. They are very untruthful and unprofessional people.

EDIT - After weeks of arguing with HMS about this awful, corrupt company, we still haven't received our money back for the work they DID NOT DO. I'm not sure why HMS still uses this company seeing how awful they treat their customers continually. They are scam artists. Period.

I had a positive experience. I was concerned by some the reviews but most of us don't take the time to share when things go right… right?
Cinch Home Warranty dispatched SubZero when the previous companies two repairs had not solved my cooling problem.
SubZero made the repair recommendation and Cinch chose a different route. The repair was properly performed but that didn’t solve the issue.
Cinch decided to replace another part… same story.
Third time’s a charm. Cinch approved the repair plan that was originally drafted by SubZero; problem solved.
I had the opportunity to observe SubZero work as a team on several occasions. They’re no more perfect than the rest of us but they dealt with the ridiculous Cinch Home Warranty Company while I picketed the local Sears Appliance Center, until the repair was authorized. I was super-angry and I knew it was the fault of Cinch. SubZero did a great job every (4) times. They even communicated very well with me, probably because I wasn’t being a jerk.
I’ll request SubZero the next time the Sears techs are over scheduled.

I only used this company because it was required by my home warranty.

I waited from May to September for the work to be done. 6 months without AC during an extremely hot summer. Yes, part of that was the warranty company's fault, but when the warranty company said they had delivered my equipment in July, Sub Zero flat out refused to pick it up, demanding that it be delivered to their work address, making me wait another month and a half.
It took three weeks for them to finish the work at my house, showing that I was a low priority customer to them.
There was poor communication about when they would be working, and I had to take off work three days that they just didn't show up.
If they gave me a window of 10-2 for arrival, they would come at 1:55, at the last possible moment, but I had to be home for that entire window waiting on them, because they didn't call before coming.
They didn't knock on my door before going to my back deck and moving my things around and starting work on the unit.
They demanded full payment before doing any work, and when I refused and said I needed to talk to my warranty company, they sat in their van until I came out with a check, saying that the warranty company owed them so much money that they weren't going to touch anything until I paid.
They didn't put a drop cloth down before starting, and got debris all over the floor, THEN put a drop cloth down. They offered to clean it up but I said to just leave.
Left several deep gouges in my hardwood floors from where they moved my furnace.
Left an open hole in my closet floor for an entire week, and during that time mice got into my house.
Left my back door open for a long time and let a bunch of flies in.
Left HVAC parts and trash in my yard for over a week.
Filled up my personal trashcan with construction trash without permission. (I couldn't put any other trash in the can, it was overflowing with hvac parts)
Did not use face masks inside my house, even though it was a state mandate at the time.
Extremely unprofessional, asked to put their tools on my pickup truck tailgate, and threw them on the ground when I said no.
Made fun of my appearance, my job, what I was eating, etc., "poking fun," making me uncomfortable in my own home.
Part of their job was to remove my furnace and put it back. They did that, and now my furnace isn't working. I'm calling somebody else.

Update: I just paid to have my furnace repaired by a different company, they identified the problem as a wire that Sub Zero didn't reconnect when they reinstalled my furnace.
