Chad and his crew knocked on my door and asked if I needed any tree work. Usually, I do the work on my own. However, I had a large dead tree near a house and asked for a price. He was very reasonable and spoke professionally. I let him do the job and I'm glad I did. The crew carefully dropped the tree and cut it up into fireplace length pieces. Professional, thorough, clean, hard working and courteous. I will have King James Tree Company back for more tree work!

They did a great job, Chris did exactly what we agreed on and went the extra mile. I will use them again.

Wouldn't recommend a company that shows its true colors on the road. Witnessed this truck pull out in front of someone nearly making them run off the road.

Called Chris and his team on a Tuesday night and they agreed to show up Wednesday morning. They showed up right on time and we got down to brass tacks and talked price. Once settled, they removed 6 massive trees from around my house, and I mean absolutely threaded the needle on some of them falling between other trees. Two of the trees were less than 10 ft from the house, but it was done perfectly and not a branch hit the roof. They finished the job in half the time originally quoted and did a good job cleaning up afterwards. I'm already recommending them to my friends and family-- figured I'd do it on Google too. THANK YOU King James Tree Company!

Chris and his crew are the real deal. They know trees and are quick to eye your property and give you what you need to get your yard looking good again. They didn't try to upsell more work, which I appreciated. They were unbelievably quick and they did everything they promised. They didn't ask for a penny upfront and I liked that as well. You can trust these hard working, honest guys. They do business like people used to, if you know what I mean!

Poorly ran business. Paid to cut down tree and grind stump. After tree was cut down they told me someone would be out in about 3 days or so to grind stump. They sub contract by the way and that was a flag to begin with. No one ever showed so I called and spoke with Chad and then Chris and they both told me someone would come out. After no one came out either time they said they would, I called back, texted and messaged them on Facebook. This has been going on for 3 weeks and they are ignoring me. Very unprofessional when they can’t even own up to what they promised. I had to pay extra for someone else to come out and do the work. This is not the first time they have done this I was told. DON’T USE THEM.

One of their crews came down to Augusta after Hurricane Helene. They were extremely fair, kind and helpful. I had been trying to get someone to remove my trees for over a week with no luck before they showed up. They removed multiple trees quickly and stayed in contact with me the whole time. If they were local they would be my go to tree service company. I cannot overstate how happy I am with the service they provided me. They 100% deserve 5/5 stars.

We hired Chris and his team with King James Tree Co to finish up some tree work that another company started in September 2024. The King James guys are experts at what they do! Polite, dependable, and reasonable. We could not have asked for better service. They were on time and worked diligently until the job was done. Furthermore, they left our yard in tiptop order. Ignore the negative reviews here as they absolutely CANNOT be the same tree crew. Here is some information why we had to hire King James: The first company did some work, but it was never completed. Mostly what we got was excuses and delays. I hope those guys can sleep at night knowing they bilked a couple of senior citizens out of their money. Our lesson learned and our recommendation to you is KING JAMES TREE COMPANY!

We had a massive tree that was very close to our home. It must have been somewhere around 100 feet tall. King James tree service had to avoid septic tank covers and power lines. Other tree companies didn't even want to try. I am AMAZED at how quickly and carefully they took care of this for us at a great price. My children even said it felt like Goliath when the tree came down! Congrats on an excellent job, I highly recommend them!!!

Chris and his team are top notch.

Last summer Trevor dropped his card off at our door after doing some work for a neighbor. We had just received a few quotes for pruning of a few limbs in the front and back yards, including expert pruning of our Crepe Myrtle. Others wanted to top the Crepe, Trevor suggested a professional pruning. They completed the work the same day.

This go around the scope was greater. I texted Trevor on a Monday and on Tuesday Chris, Trevor, and the crew mobilized to remove 2 large trees in one afternoon. With a plan in place to return to remove 4 more later in the week.

If you are looking at having trees serviced on your property, please note that the knocks they are receiving for leaving damaged/destroyed grass comes with having your trees serviced/removed and the equipment required to do so efficiently and safely.

Again, Chris, Trevor and the crew are excellent. I'm glad I called them for a second job.

Had this company take down a really big tree close to my house on 8-19-19. They did it safely and quickly. Chris climbed the tree and took it down it sections . It went right where he wanted it to. He had to avoid our septic covers and house in a tight space . Very satisfied and a fair price too.

Had several large trees cut a week ago. These guys are spot on. I've been building and renovating houses since the 1980s in CT. I was concerned about finding replacement workers since I moved to the Charlotte area. I'm not concerned any longer.

Never used this company but if the way their employees park at gas stations is any indication of their work, I would stay away. Full truck and trailer parked across 5 spots, 2 of those being handicapped. Right in the front row at a truck stop with ample parking. But guess they were too lazy. I would look into getting better employees.

My next door neighbor hired these guys to take down trees between our homes. They asked if they could “use my driveway to get closer to load up the limbs.”

I said that was fine. They proceeded to back up the side of the lawn leaving deep mud tracks tearing up the grass I overseeded just 2 weeks ago and left for the day without a word. The next day they returned and not only didn’t mention the damage, but requested to use the driveway again. I said no because they tore up the yard. So they proceeded to finish their work and left saw dust and debris all over my section of yard and in my driveway. Not sure if it was spite, but it’s bare minimum to clean up after work like this.

    Wouldn’t hire these guys ever.

"DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY" "RUN FAST AND FAR"

I hired this company to remove a very large tree for me. All was going well until a piece of the tree got away from them and hit the corner of my garage. It damaged the siding, downspout, and a man door.

Ok - I was not upset, accidents happen, they just need to make an insurance claim and take care of fixing the damage.

But, here's where the problem lies. They told me they would make a claim and their insurance agent would call me. This never happened.

They then wanted to negotiate a deal saying the cost to fix the damage was less than their deductible and they did not want to have an insurance claim. Ok - I'm willing to discuss this.

Then they wanted to send their "dad" over to fix it. Sorry, no I want a licensed, reputable contractor.

They then sent some other guy over to look at the damage who claimed to be an engineer. He offered to knock 50% off the bill. I told him, no, we first need to get contractor quotes in order to determine how much the repair will cost.

I got a contractor quote on my own - $1900 for the repair.

I sent it to King James Tree company - "crickets"

Here in lies the problem - They have now disappeared and are ignoring my phones calls and texts. They are NOT a reputable, ethical, responsible, well run company. Contrary to their word, they probably do not even have business insurance.

Chris and his team took out several large sweet gum trees near our detached garage. Chris climbed the trees and took them down in sections. Debris was moved and the work was completed at a fair price.

This company came and removed trees from my neighbors home. Before they started I told them the power lines hang low becareful. A guy climbed on top of the truck to lift the lines so they could go down the driveway. On the way out when they were finished they drove straight out the driveway pulling ALL THE Power lines down causing all the neighbors to lose power. I personally told them watch the wires and was ignored. I work from home so I'm losing money right now. This is unacceptable. They need to be held accountable for incompetence.

Good job but BEWARE! Do not pay them until the job is completely done. I guess I learned the hard way. The owner stopped randomly and asked if I wanted some trees cut down since he noticed a few dead trees.

He told me $1500 to remove three trees but leave the cit material on the property as opposed to taking them off premises. I thought the price was high considering that one of the trees had zero branches and was about 25-30 feet tall. Though I thought the price was high, I figured it’s hard work and clearly something I’m not capable of.

Before they were done cutting the trees down, the owner and I walked over to where he wanted me to show him where to dump the scrap. We walked over and I clearly pointed the exact spot I wanted them dumped.

I was getting ready to leave so I paid him cash and left. When I returned, I noticed they dumped the trees exactly where I told them NOT to dump as I explained that the pathway was used for a haunted Halloween trail.

I called and spoke to his wife twice which I was told he would call back. I left two more messages and never heard back. I’ve been in business for 27 years and would never ignore my customers like this company does. Even if he had told me it would have cost me to have them moved, we could have come up with an agreed price. So not only did he lose any additional money, I have almost two acres that I need trees cut down.

My suggestion if you’re going to use this company, wait until the job is completely done before you pay them and do not expect any kind of customer service.

Chris and his team recently completed some tree trimming for several trees in my yard, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. Compared to other tree service companies I’ve hired before, this crew stood out for their professionalism and skill. They carefully trimmed everything—handling my taller birch and a large poplar with precision—while making sure not to damage my property or the surrounding areas. I was impressed by how coordinated they were, using their equipment safely and keeping their own safety in check, which made the whole process stress-free for me.

The pricing was straightforward and fair, no surprises, which I appreciated after some past experiences. From start to finish, they were easy to work with and left the yard looking great. I’d happily recommend Chris and King James Tree Company to anyone needing reliable, high-quality tree care, and I’ll be calling them again when my trees need attention down the road.
