Rock Island Realty

We have used Rock Island twice now on our 125-year-old house—first to remove and replace a front porch and improve the front face of the house, and again to redo a master bath, take down a sleeping porch and add a sunroom, and open up a wall between the dining room and living room.

Throughout the design process, we had a lot of discussions and made many changes, working to keep the price within our budget while preserving the integrity of the home's look and feel. Rock Island has an excellent eye for design and real skill in working with these old houses.

The replacement front porch and the window woodwork additions significantly improved our curb appeal and gave us a large, usable porch. The sunroom, master bath, and interior work all required custom design and carpentry, with change orders along the way as we found ways to improve the design—and as demolition turned up surprises, like a five-foot pocket door hidden in a wall, which they refurbished and made functional again. We're happy with the results, especially the custom millwork and how well it was installed in an old house without a single square corner or flat floor.

Their expertise with old houses, their design ideas, their willingness to talk through change orders, and their communication throughout were all excellent. We did experience some delays along the way, largely owing to materials delivery. While they worked with barriers and cleaning, dust and dirt seem to be an inevitable part of the process.

Bottom line: we've asked them twice to work on our old house, and we'd ask them again.

Wasn't able to contact and no call returned 😒😒😒😒
