In March, we were told we’d be put on the schedule once we gave our deposit, however, this never happened. The communication was terrible. We repeatedly contacted Brian to check in on an approximate start date and when we did hear back, he kept pushing things further and further out. When we finally got a hold of him to cancel our project (12 weeks after giving our deposit), he claimed they were going to start on our project the following week (when we were going on vacation…). Brian refused to give our deposit back claiming he’d already paid workers and ordered materials for our project – even though we were never even able to finalize the design plan yet. ?? He also claimed that he had put 24 hours worth of work (at $85 an hour) into our project. We came to find that all of this wasn’t true, but he still wouldn’t give us our money saying he’d hold on to it until we were ready to do a project in the future. When we said this wasn’t acceptable, he offered to give $3500 back do some landscape work to account for the rest of our money. (In order to achieve this, my husband had to sit at Brian’s office for hours on two different occasions). We verbally agreed to this (just to be done with all of this at this point), and Brian and another worker came out and made a plan with my husband. When my husband contacted Brian repeatedly through phone calls, texts, and email, Brian never got back to him about this new project. At this point, almost 5 months had passed since Brian first received our money. We ended up filing a complaint with the BBB, at which point Brian called my husband and cussed him out, threatening to not do any work AND keep our money if he didn’t rescind the complaint. We are still in contact with the BBB and an attorney, but have not resolved the issue. Bottom line – terrible communication, no follow through, untrustworthy, awful customer relations, and downright horrible to work with.

I have used Brian and his team for both a large and small project at two different properties. Each time the work was completed in a very timely manner and the end product was exceptional. I'll be using them once again on a future project and I highly recommend their services.

Brian was absolutely amazing during our bidding and planning process. Although we did not contract Smithscapes, due to budget(our problem), Brian was an excellent example of what his company stands for. Brian was prompt, informative, and very professional. I would not hesitate to have Brian and Smithscapes do future work on our property. I highly recommend them!

In one word.......UNBELIEVABLE!!!! The customer service, the crew, the end result....all of it was unbelievable. The crew did amazing job, in ONE day, to remove the old, outdated, and dying landscape into a fresh new look. I have the best looking yard in Delhi!

I have been a SmithScapes customer since 2008 when they turned my postage stamp yard into a lush paradise complete with all the things I wanted including a pond with water falls, bubbling rock and bridge!! Then they suggested a sitting wall which completed the project. SmithScapes shows up each spring to clean the pond, trim all the foliage, mulch the beds, power wash this and that and start up the sprinkler system. At other times Brian is quick to respond to my inquiries on changes and quick to send help when my yard needs a mid-season spruce up. I recommend them for your landscape needs of all kinds.

Smithscapes did a fabulous job! All of the neighbors kept commenting on the quality and professionalism of this company. My new patio and retaining wall look great! And, throughout the whole process they were always available to talk and would show up on time.

We are very happy with our backyard walls and grading/landscaping. They exceeded our expectations. Communication was easy and transparent, with quick responses when we had questions. Allen and his crew did great work and were very flexible when we requested some additional improvements that were not in the original plans. Would highly recommend!

They did a nice job on most of our patio and landscaping project. But they failed to adequately supervise the contractor they hired to build the steps and landing, causing me to have to direct that it be partially rebuilt, and adding delays. They failed to put protection around a tree they planted and a deer destroyed much of its bark in the first week. The owner refused to replace the tree, claiming it would survive, despite the fact that it is clearly weakened and ugly, and will die prematurely according to the literature, which I shared with him, to no avail. For a $150.00 plant, he squandered the good will of a customer who had paid him over $30,000 for a project. If you hire this company, hold something back until they have done what they promised.

We have had a great experience with Smithscapes. We used them for completely renovating our backyard including installing a new deck, retaining wall, paver patio pool deck, fencing, and lighting, and landscaping. Smithscapes was very responsive and did an amazing job! Smithscapes coordinated gathering permits and working with sub-contractors, while keeping us very informed. This is a company that follows through on their commitments and does the work in the timeframe initially given. I would highly recommend.
