Home Services reviews in Columbus, Ohio

Wow. Just a terrible experience today. Never written a review from the parking lot before, but here goes...
Was trying to find any help for 15 minutes, no one. Then, when I was finally able to flag someone down for 2 pretty simple questions, he grunted "over there" then threw 2 sweet potato vines in my cart. When I asked if there were any more (I wanted 3 flats), he said "probably not" and walked away without checking.
Go to check out, asked about self water baskets, and was pointed to a vague area. Turns out that there were only 2 different kinds of self-watering hanging baskets.
Then made it back to line. Cashier bent over backwards for the woman in front of me, including calling another cashier over to search for a coupon.
After an eternity, apparently my almost $300 was not worth the same consideration.
Having already spent $900 at Oakland this morning, I realized that it is my own damn fault for not ordering online, but I try to support local.
Also, keep in mind that this was a MONDAY afternoon.
Do what you want, but they have gone way downhill since COVID. -
The display of gorgeous mums and pumpkins is a feast to the eyes! The mums are of all different fall colors and white ,and exceptionally beautiful. I was delighted to be offered a free mum from the cart outside. Staff are always friendly and knowlegeable.
I always visit this nursery if anywhere in the area.
One disappointment: I purchased 2 bags of 10 daffodil bulbs. Four of the bulbs were too soft to plant. I planted the bulbs 4 days after purchase. -
They have a large variety of plants, flowers and shrubs to choose from.

Fabulous! Has everything one needs to display a beautiful garden. Very Large selection to satisfy one's dream garden. Take away: Little on the pricey side. And getting out of the parking lot onto busy Broad St traffic. Two thumbs up! Peace!

Very clean and well organized. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I purchased my live Christmas tree here this afternoon. The price was fair, and the tree is great quality compared to what I found at other merchants. I will definitely shop here again. This was my first visit.

Do not use Straders for a LP gas refill facility unless your tank is completely EMPTY. They charge for a full capacity refill even if you might have gas in the tank...
Just drive a little further out Broad to Tractor Supply where they charge you a competitive price for the gas you get.
Shame on you Strader's -
Conveniently located with plenty of parking. Very large, open and airy…not closed in.
HUGE ASSORTMENT of houseplants with affordable prices. Very friendly staff.
I’ve tried the rest…Straders is the best.
Great atmosphere. Difficult to leave empty-handed. -
I was visiting family in the area, and stopped in to look at some houseplants. I am a big house plant collector, i got an alocasia and hoya from them. I always check for pests in the store and didn’t notice anything but when i got back to my family members home a few hours later i noticed the hoya RIDDLED in aphids!! By the next morning the alocasia was about completely eaten through on a stem. I’m glad i did not bring that into my home where i have 50+ houseplants, this is as terribly sad and unacceptable for any store to sell plants riddled in pests like this. Spider mites are one thing but when you are getting into aphids and other more dangerous pests that’s a whole other level of neglect and a money hungry store.
not to mention when i asked an employee if they had any other alocasia’s around the store she quickly said “no the one you see is all we have” when that was clearly untrue as i continued to walk the store finding others, she just didn’t want to take time to help or direct me to others or maybe just uneducated about plant varieties -
I’ve been going to straders for a few years now and their outdoor selection is really good and fairly priced. Their indoor plants are extremely overpriced. Straders carries some very common houseplants but charges triple what they’re worth lol. I wanted to get a new neon pothos and a tiny one was $30; I could get a huge one for that price from literally ANY store. Outdoor plants are great but 90% of the indoor plants are not nearly worth what they charge (almost tempted to call it a scam).
The past few times I’ve visited, the store smells strongly like cat pee. I’ve been going to straders for years and the store has always smelled like cat (obviously, bunch of strays live there) but a few months ago it started smelling like cat pee and I don’t think I’ll be going back if it’s gonna smell like pee lol. I’ve been in the gardening hobby for 8 years and I have NEVER been to a nursery that smells like urine (and yes, they are all pet friendly. I bring my dog to nurseries all the time). -
I’m starting my own garden this year and I have to say, I have no idea what I’m doing! It’s actually quite embarrassing 😂. However, Mazzy was eager to help and graciously answered all of my questions and then some! She’s incredibly knowledgeable and really has a passion for plants! We even went back today to add some house plants to our home and again, we were met with great knowledge and guidance from Mazzy. Thanks so much for your help!!!

First time visiting/buying at Strader's and the lady there was sooooo helpful and pleasant. She was very knowledgeable in helping me find a gardening kit for my granddaughter. I was able to get what I was looking for. And the employee loves singing Billie Idol which makes me happy... I'm a huge fan lol.

I've been to this location a few times and they always have what I need! The indoor plant selection they have is amazing as well. I was doing a project recently of transitioning my phildendron splendid from a coir poles to a moss pole because it was not stable enough to keep holding it up. I was terrified of doing it wrong lol I asked for advice and Bailey took me to another associate zion. Zion was so helpful and gave me allot of tips which I appreciated. Zion and Bailey were fantastic- will definitely be a repeat customer due to their awesome customer service!

Great store, some items pricey some a good deal. Spent $130 bucks and wanted a deal on a flower to save 10 or 15 bucks max and the manager shut it down before i could finish my sentence. Try and support local business great, no helping the customer a little, awful. Spent my last dime there and tbey couldnt help me get my last flower Tuesday night. June 3rd. Will go to lowes next time.

Straders Reynoldsburg has a great selection of plants you can't find in box stores. They have especially great value for perennials which are more established and less likely to suffer from transplant shock. Pictured is a bloom from a Sarah bernhardt peony I got last year, that bloomed this year!!! Peonies bloom at least 2 years after planting so this was a real treat!

Love this beautiful store! Excellent houseplants, at reasonable prices! And bonus points for the wonderful resident kitties!

Really wonderful garden center with tons of houseplants, pots, whimsical garden decor, etc. I visited a little late in the season to review their outdoor plant selection, but they certainly have an extensive nursery area - I believe it's touted as a 2-acre nursery.
The houseplants were extremely well maintained, and there's an impressive variety and ample number of each species offered. Much more organized, enormous, and pleasing than the King Avenue location.
Houseplants are also very reasonably priced and healthy. Saw an employee very lovingly tending and watering them with care while I was there. Bought a curcuma plant (ornamental ginger, aka turmeric) in great condition.
As a plant addict, I will definitely be shopping here again!! -
Last year one of the employees spent a good amount of time telling us on how to get the most out of our new Limelight Hydrangea we bought from the Garden Center. The coaching paid off! This is exactly what we were hoping for and it’s been so nice seeing these blooms open up everyday this month.

I love this place! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great selection of houseplant and garden supplies and also have many unusual houseplant varieties.

I’m honestly surprised this location has so many decent reviews. My entire experience today was awful. Asked where Christmas sprays were (they’re live…) and the guy apparently didn’t know what they were and said they were inside with the fake Christmas trees. A short haired woman was incredibly rude when we thought a spray came with the base it was in. Not our fault for not knowing. Prices are astronomical. Felt like no one wanted to help us and like they were upset people were actually shopping. And to top it off they were wearing pajama pants which is so tacky. I get it for holiday spirit, but that’s not something you should do when working with the public. Not that anyone cares but happy to say we will never be back.

Just stopped in for a new house plant to warm up the house. Ended up with three. I had the two small ones in my basket when I saw the sale plants and they all asked to go home with me so I am playing in dirt while it's snowing outside. A good day.

Great place to shop for all things plants and plant related. Both indoors and outdoors. Large range of plant. Some really unique and rare options. Staff are very friendly. 7 cats scattered throughout.
