Let me preface this with a little history. I called Lamphear's early this year to get a quote for some lawn work. I ended up going with a different company, which I was not completely satisfied with, but that's irrelevant.

I called Lampear's again a couple weeks ago to try again, and get a quote for the next part of my lawn. I told whoever I spoke to that it would be for next year likely in the fall.

I received a call back today and the guy told me that just the backyard was not enough for them to come out, and I clarified saying that it's more than just the backyard. It's the backyard, up both sides of the house, and part of the front. I was also looking to get a quote on some other landscaping. Probably about 75% of a 2/3 of an acre lot. After all of that explanation, they guy goes "Didn't we quote you earlier this year for some work and you didn't call us back?", and I said yeah I had some other quotes and went a different direction at the time. His response was "Nah, I'm going to pass".... Seeing as he apparently took it personally that I didn't end up going with them earlier, I expressed a little bit of my displeasure and hung up. Fine whatever, I moved on already.

This guy had the nerve to call me back a few minutes later to tell ME it was "nothing personal" after the whole "nah, I'm good" thing. Then proceeds to try and cover that up by basically telling me that it was inconvenient for them to do some work for me since they didn't have any other jobs near me while disregarding the fact I was looking for work next year (though I’m not sure if that was conveyed to him from the first person I spoke to).... They are less than 20 minutes away from me so I don't buy that in the slightest. And even if that were the case, you don't tell a potential customer that they are an inconvenience. What if I had gone with them earlier this year? Would they tell me now that I am an inconvenience? I suspect not. But also as a potential customer, your other jobs don't matter to me. You either service an area or you don't. Don't lead me on to believe that you will do work here by coming out to do a quote one time, and then say it's inconvenient to drive less than 20 minutes the next.

So, if I were to disregard the fact that they took it personally that I didn't go with them previously, they may do good work, but if you happen to be 20-ish minutes away, then look elsewhere.

EDIT to respond to business:
Whether it was personal or not, the way you or your employee handled the conversation was extremely unprofessional. You could have simply answered with "we can't service that area at this time", but instead YOU brought up the previous quote and YOU answered with "nah I'm going to pass" without any mention about why you were "going to pass" initially. I don't know how you expected me to interpret that, but that's the response I would expect to get if it was taken personally. You may say you base your business on professionalism, but that initial conversation begs to differ. I'll be leaving the review as is.

I was surprised at the quick response time for the quote on new mulch. The quote was reasonable. I decided to also sign up for lawn care and maintenance in addition to the snow removal service that we already have and are happy with.

Great job delivering the stone that I ordered. Driver was helpful in dropping it in a couple different places to help us out. Fair prices and the ladies in the office were helpful as well.

Amazing job on our mulch today! Our lawn is a muddy mess but Lamphear’s came out with a quick and efficient team and made our yard look so much better. They touched up a few places they didn’t have to and we really appreciate it.

I just want to say Thank you to the snow removal team that does the Giant Eagle parking lot in Brunswick! I’m the receiver there and this is the first year I have not had to shovel or salt my area in the back! They do a great job and I’m so grateful to all of them!!

Our HOA has used Lamphear the last few years and we are happy with their service and would recommend. Would especially like to commend them on their quick response to any issues that do come up. Their people are professional and great to work with.

We have had this company as our landscaping company for quite a while here in Medina Township, and depending on who is on your crew will determine what they do and how well or poor they do are. Last Friday, the guy doing the trimming in our neighborhood butchered all of the lawns in our association. This was by far the worst job I have ever seen from them. Cory, the owner of Lamphear Lawn, came out and spoke to several of us and acknowledged the terrible work and promised to make things better going forward. Better communication is needed between the company and the association, which will be worked on by the board members. I feel confident that things will improve significantly going forward.

Lazy, rude, and unprofessional is how I would begin to describe the workers for this company. Unfortunately, our HOA selected them to service our community and they are absolutely awful in every way. We have had to file numerous complaints just to get them to mow behind our property, which we pay them to do. The workers are constantly playing on their phones and rude anytime you try and speak with them. We have a lot of children in our neighborhood and you can constantly hear them swearing as they are working on the lawns, with no regard to who might hear what they are saying. Overall, an embarrassment to the lawn and landscaping business, and proof that any gomer can make money attempting to cut grass these days.

Great company. Shane and his team came out to fix some drainage issues along the sides of our new driveway. He came out two different times to survey, and ensure we were both on the same page with the plan. My questions and phone calls were answered promptly, usually within a few hours. They were very careful on the new driveway, and took precautions not to damage it. Nothing but good things to say about these guys. Will use again in the future.

I had these guys come out and install a new landscape/lawn for us and we couldn't be happier.
They were competitively priced, performed a fantastic install, and continue to work hard on monitoring and maintaining the new lawn.
I was a bit concerned that 2 of the bushes they installed were dying, but they reassured me that they'd replace them the minute that they realized they "weren't coming back".
This is a very well run local company that I plan on working with moving forward.
Call and ask for Kory or Kevin...you won't regret it.

Very unhappy with the service provided. Giving high quote for work that did not need to be done. They continually put grass clippings in my newly mulch beds. No customer service. Would not recommend this company!

we built a new home and used Lamphear’s for our lawn, irrigation and landscape install (15k job). Kevin was AWESOME. He was very knowledgeable, we loved the design he created, the pricing was great and we received great word of mouth about Corey the owner from my family members. we were willing to wait till the fall for our install because we wanted it to be done right and were confident Lamphear’s would be the ones to do just that.

Install dates came, day 1 the crew did an incredible job. We loved the beds they created, the current standing tree on the property was limbed up nicely, the front yard looked great. You could tell they used the rock hound and hand raked to near perfection. I don’t know what happened day two, but it’s almost like they did the side and rear in a hurry. there were multiple big sized rocks all throughout the grassy areas up against the house that I had to remove by hand. they even left behind a huge rock (approximately the size of a football) right in the grass area against the house. They threw seed and straw over and left it. The rear yard had gravel there from The concrete installation. The team just threw seed and straw on it.

We contacted Kevin and he assured me that it should not have been left like that and they would take care of it. He kept true to his word and immediately resolved the issues.

I always say “it’s not about the issues that determine a business, but instead it’s how the issues are resolved” Lamphear’s is an honest company and they value customer satisfaction. Their reputation speaks for itself. We highly recommend using them for all your landscape and irrigation needs.

This company put in the starter yard in my new construction ryan home. My backyard has a treeline that runs parallel to the townhomes on our side. This causes a lot of shade and excess moisture if you water the lawn too much. They also did not properly grade it, as part of the backyard needed more layers of dirt to prevent stagnant water.
They never took this into consideration or warned me or anybody else of potential problems that could take place due to the lack of sunlight and excess water. Both I and my neighbors along this treeline now have bald patches galore and plenty of muddy spots and sunken footprints because this company gave the same generic advice of watering lawns they give for every area.
Also, when they put down hay, they carelessly threw it into my AC compressor which could easily clog it up.
Will end up having to pay another company to come in and fix the problems. I would never use this company's services when it comes to putting in a new lawn. So be farwarned, go with someone else who is willing to take all factors into consideration and give you the proper advice on how to maintain your specific yard.

In July 2018 we had Lamphears dig out beds along both sides of our home and they laid stones where the beds were. They also re-did the large front bed and re-worked a couple more small beds. They stayed true to the estimate and I thought the price was very reasonable. They did exceptional work and totally exceeded my expectations. They also do our community’s lawn maintenance and snow removal and do a great job at a great price.

The mulch is great quality, and it was the best value in Medina. They got it to me quickly and the driver was incredibly friendly and helpful. We chatted for a bit and he shared some info with me about how to best keep the mulch looking it’s best.

Brandon & his crew were here bright & early, and finished our yard by 2:00 in the afternoon…as promised. Brandon made sure that anything I wanted cleared out was cleared out & made a point to check with us to be sure they’d gotten everything we wanted done. The place looked great when they finished the job. My husband and I are completely satisfied with their work. I intend to have them back for fall cleanup, too!

Lamphear's was great to work with! They were flexible with our rock deliveries thru the ups and downs of our project. Drivers were careful and friendly. Their material prices were very competitive. All around a great experience and will work with them again gladly.

We love Lamphear's!! Our development used to have a different landscaping company that was horrible. We dealt with them for years and thankfully the new board got rid of them. They went for bids and we were able to get Lamphear's. The crew is so nice and very respectful of the homeowners. The grass looks the best it has had in years! Everyone I have talked to has been pleased with the service!! Highly recommended!

The worse lawn care service out there! Sloppy job, don’t weed wack evenly if at all.Uneven grass cut, trim is atrocious. Blow grass onto patios and into air conditioning. They actually put their cigarette butts into my raised gardens. If I could give “0” stars I would. I would not recommend them. I’ve given them multiple chances to make it right and they have not!

Been using lamphear's for a few years and always a great experience. Had mulch delivered same day the order was placed.Top quality mulch. Will never use bags of mulch from stores again after seeing the quality difference.

We used Lamphear’s to order a large quantity of topsoil for our yard. They were able to deliver same day and on time! I’d highly recommend Lamphear’s for landscaping supply.
