Ed and his staff were nothing short of amazing. Ed came to our home and spent a great deal of time getting to know us and what we envisioned. I still get tears in my eyes remembering how they capped off the nearly six figure project by placing the angel statue that had graced my recently deceased mother’s garden on a boulder near the center of the space. Ultimately, people do business with people; Ed and his team are simply great people!

THIS YEAR WE WERE IN NEED OF A NEW DECK AND HIRED SPECIALSCAPES FOR THIS JOB. JAY AND HIS CREW ARE COURTEOUS, TIMELY, HELPFUL, AND SHOW CONCERN THAT ALL IS WELL. I have worked with Jay at Specialscapes on a variety of landscaping projects over the previous 3 seasons. Projects include- bed design and planting, deck paver install, flower bed paver install, landscape lighting install. I would recommend Jay and Specialscapes. He has been honest, reliable, timely, and the quality of work has fulfilled my expectations.

We used Specialscapes for both a deck and patio and we were so happy with the results and customer service. Jay listened to all of our concerns throughout the process and offered solutions. He was very honest and transparent, I've never been more happy with a contractor!

Warning: My deck was built without a blueprint. SpecialScapes built my deck and it was a painful experience. There were several issues...the foreman did not use the blueprint that the owner (Jay) created. My husband and I sat down with Jay and talked through our design. Because the foreman didn't use the design we discussed, the deck posts had to be torn out multiple times due to lack of symmetry. To top that off, Jay did not volunteer to rip out the posts and redo the lack of symmetry, he tried to use "band-aid" fixes, such as building posts that were only for aesthetics but not cemented in the ground. This obviously didn't look right and ultimately had to be redone. As the customer, we felt extremely uncomfortable because it required a lot of "pushing" to get the job done right. Jay sat down with us and admitted that he did not handle this job properly. They did not show up when they said they were going to, they built the deck wrong and the gates are uneven. We ultimately agreed that the project was 'as good as it was going to get' and we paid the company. Now, fast forward a few years (my deck was built about 3 years ago), the gates on the deck that I paid $500 for (each) are sagging even more and the railings are warping. We had a tree come down on our property and we need repair work done. SpecialScapes came out and quoted us in February and said they could do the work the following week. It is now 7/18/16 and they still have not done the work and they will not return our phone calls. This is an extremely unprofessional company. I would spare yourself the headaches and time, and use another contractor for your building needs.

Project: Install Interlocking Pavers for Patios, Walks and Steps
BEWARE!!! We hired this company to install a Unilock paver patio. Jay is not a Unilock authorized contractor. Jay was quick to take my money, but getting him here to get the job done after starting was difficult. The job is still not done. Additionally he removed a small section of sidewalk and damaged my brand new siding. What he did incorrectly is as follows: He dug the patio in 3 sections, and did not dig it past the width as per instructions, he did not compact the base properly, he laid the pavers incorrectly and again did not follow guidelines. He made my step out of 2 different pavers that are not even on the contract, and it was made at an illegal height of 8 1/2". The poly sand was put down, wet down, then within an hour it rained, so the sand failed and continues to wash out. Some joints in the patio never had any sand. Pavers were not compacted as in instructions and the patio is not pitched correctly. I have many pictures showing the deficiencies as described. Trying to contact Jay is most frustrating as he only has an answering machine and seldom calls back. I am now looking for a new installer. All of the other installers all looked at this patio and actually pointed out even more deficiencies than I originally saw. This whole patio was installed incorrectly from the first dig and still remains undone. While function and foundation is most important to me for longevity, the aesthetics are awful as well. BEWARE!

Specialscapes installed a paver patio for me. They did an excellent job for a reasonable price. The work crew was courteous, and respectful. They started and ended the project on time.
