Home Services reviews in Tallmadge, Ohio

I have always enjoyed shopping at Petittis even though I think the prices are quite high. I went in today to buy a gift card. I stood at the Customer Service area and waited. Finally, the girl at the cash register next to customer service asked if I needed help. I said I wanted to buy a gift card. "If you come over here, you can buy one." There was a register at customer service (which I saw another employee using as I was leaving). Maybe she wasn't allowed to leave her post, but the store wasn't overflowing with customers. So I started walking around and realized there was no easy way to get to her. I asked if I could cut through Customer Service. "No, you have to go the whole way around." It was the tone. When I got to her, I mentioned that this wasn't being very customer friendly. She stared at me. I then suggested that, perhaps, this is where an "I'm sorry" would be nice. Her response -- "Why would I tell you I'm sorry? I didn't set up this system. It's how the owner wants it." Believe it or not, I still bought the gift card, but I doubt I will go to that particular store again. Customer Service and friendliness is becoming a lost art.

The store looks beautiful and the employees are all working so hard. I love thé birdseed and of course the plants. Installing air conditioning would be a major bonus it’s oppressive shopping in the heat. I actually left early because of how hot and muggy it was inside.

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for the employees at this location, they really go above and beyond for their customers! I purchased a patio set last year but due to unforseen circumstances I wasn't able to assemble it till a week or so ago. When I got everything together I realized the table had a manufacturer defect. I went to Pettitis to see if anything could be done and they replaced the table with no issue! They had it shipped from a different location, assembled it, and the two wonderful women who helped me at the store personally delivered it to my home! I truly appreciate what they did for my family and now we can enjoy out patio set with no issues!

The staff is great. Very knowledgeable & super helpful. Nice new renovation to the store as well. The problem now is that their prices are through the roof. I used to make this my only stop for gardening needs, but they are way to expensive now. It was great while it lasted.

Amazing selection and more than fair pricing! I definitely snagged a couple wishlist plants for way lower than online or my local plant shop. Everybody working here was super friendly and made it easy to shop. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Spent almost $600 for plants for our front yard. Seven coral bells at $30 each. Five of them started dying so I called and asked if I could exchange them. The answer was no, we only guarantee them for 30 days and I called at 35 days. Bought a fountain and the transformer heats up to the point you can’t touch it. Have called several times to talk to Andrew about it. He is always busy and has not returned our call. Won’t be going back.

I spent awhile looking at beautiful plants and yard decorations here then we get into line behind an older gentleman with a cactus I decided I couldn't leave without. We are then ushered by a worker there to move back and that the line started abt 25 feet behind where the older man in front of us were. There was also a couple with a cart full of plants behind us who also needed to move back just for the cashier to call the next person and us to shift back to where we were basically. I felt disrespected and I sat my cactus down and left. Why he felt the need to stop stocking the items he was stocking just to tell people to move back when the line was clearly moving forward is beyond me. This is only the second time I've been to this garden store and I think I much rather go elsewhere after that experience. Not to mention the selection here is average and the prices are very high.

Absolutely love Petittis. They have a wide variety of plants, lawn and gardening needs. And such wonderful employees❤

High quality plants and some great seasonal deals. I have never been disappointed with anything I've bought here. Annuals and perennials grow really well once planted at home. They have some nice garden decor too.

I shop at this location frequently. I always rely on one person to help me, his name is David in the nursery. I have bought several different shrubs at different times. He was always very helpful and friendly. He recommended Biotone fertilizer and I’ve really noticed a difference. He has gone out of his way to help me, even helping me with perennials. When I’ve asked about annuals he’s even taken the time to show me everything I need with them also! Petitti’s is lucky to have such a great employee that is interested in customer’s needs. This is why I keep returning to Petitti’s instead of the big box stores! Keep up the great customer service!

Petitti Garden Center is the best selection of Herbs. They start their own plants so all plants are healthy and well taken care of. I was very pleased to get almost everything I was looking for. This was the only place I could find with a variety of herbs for sale.

Love this store but beware that some items may be overpriced. We recently purchased 3 beautiful black metal trellises for $60 each only to find them (same model #) a few days later for $43 each at Lowes. After calling Petitti's we were informed that they have a "no price adjustment policy". Lesson learned.

One of the simple joys in life is to walk around this place and I always leave with way too many plants!

I took a African Violet that I was unsure about what to do with a treatment plan. I didnt want to lose the plant to root rot. One of the employees, Julie, helped me with a course of action. It made me feel so much better knowing I had expert advice. Kudos to JULIE!

Went in on the weekend to check out plant material available. Asked David about Northern Catalpa (a tree native to this region that grows along tributaries) and he had never heard of it. Went in back to look it up or if he could get it. He came back out and told us no one has it and then said it can be invasive. Then he asks, “but you want it for narcotic reasons, and right?” Very unprofessional and lacks knowledge of native plant material. Won’t be doing business here.

I went in to purchase arborvitae and the first employee that I came across was Andrew. He answered all of the questions I had before making my purchase and then walked me up to the register to ring me out.
He helped me set up my delivery and made this entire process so easy. There was an issue with the delivery date that I had initially selected (which was no fault of his or the company) and he generously helped sort everything out, and was just so kind and helpful—that isn’t always what you get from the customer service side of things which is what it makes me even more appreciative of that.
This was my first time shopping at Petitti’s. I will definitely be a returning customer solely because of Andrew. Thank you again! -
The sign said all hanging baskets buy one get one. When checking out the girl named naveah told me the mums weren't part of it. Kind of rudely I might add. One of the signs for the sale was on the shelf that only had mums on it. Very disappointed cause the prices were already high compared to competitors. So overall they advertise and bait and switch then rude about it. 🙄 When I go to buy more plants I will not be going there

Nice Petitti's like the others. Fairly newly redone. Huge selection right now if fall perennials. Found the perfect apricot colored Echinacea. Staff were very friendly! As I browsed, everyone said hello.

All my plants infested!!!! I have been a customer here for about 10 years. And this years was my last. We have had so many plant die, and I always assumed it was because we planted in the wrong place or did something else wrong. We'll this year I started to really get into house plant. I always wanted more and I now have the time to really pursue having a large collection. I started that collection by buying at Petittis. Boy, was that a mistake. I have had one disaster of a plant after another. All have lived and after alot of research and reddit all have thrived, no thanks to the staff at this store. I have brought home plants with thripes, I brought home plants that promptly lost all the leaves on the lower half of the plant and still can't grow leaves on the bottom half, I brought home the Charlie Brown Christmas tree equivalent of a croton Petra that I was assured would grow leaves in the middle, it is still bald in the middle. But the piece de resistance was being sold a calathea ornata with spider mite eggs on the leaves. Not till I got it home did I notice the tiny little white dots. I thought nothing of it. And then the plant began its slow miserable demise. Finally I gave up receipt in hand, pictures on my phone to prove that the rest of my plant are happy and healthy, with my tail between my legs to petittis. There instead of explaining to a new and novice house plant hobbiest, they tried to deflect until I rattled off the list I listed above. I was given store credit by the nice lady at the front desk. But once the guy she brought over not only argued with me but when I tried to tell him that those spots had been on the plant since I had bought it, so they had again sold me another infested plant and he basically told me it wasn't possible that they not only sold me a plant with spider mites but made it very clear that he didnt believe me about any of it and didnt care about the photo evidence I had. I was Just done with Petittis. So if you made it to the end of this, thank you. And let this please be a warning. Please dont waste your money here, because at this point I have wasted thousands of dollars here thinking it was worth it, and it wasn't.
Next day; Also at the time I bought the Ornata 100% of my plants came from Petittis. Also today I am washing my plants leaf by leaf and all my plants from petittis have infestations, plants from elsewhere do not. I wonder why?
