General Contractor reviews in Hillsboro, Oregon

I have a home that is showing regular signs of aging ( just like me!). I’ve lived here 51 years and live my home so I want to take care of it. Val came out to give me some estimates and I was impressed with his skills and knowledge. Bonus points for being such an all around nice guy! I have met with several contractors and discussed many projects with lots of bids. Val is someone I would hire with full trust and confidence. Please don’t hesitate to call and have him discuss your project with you. I’m sure you will feel the same!

Quality work with a professional attitude! Everything from prep to clean up was communicated well and done as quickly as possible. This crew goes far above and beyond the scope of the job to make sure you're satisfied

I was really impressed by Val’s professionalism and responsiveness in addressing an issue with the deck Phoenix had built for us. If you aren’t 100 percent happy with their work, they will do everything they can to make it right, and they will put in the time and effort to make sure you walk away a happy customer. This is hard to find in contractors!! We love our new deck and can’t wait to enjoy it this summer!

We’ve worked with this company on multiple major projects over time, and every single experience has been outstanding. They first replaced our roof, then built a beautiful deck, installed a backyard fence, painted the house, completed new siding, and finally installed gutters. After working with them across so many different projects, I can confidently say they are one of the best construction companies we’ve ever hired.

What really sets them apart is their attention to detail and communication. They took the time to do things correctly, never rushed through work, and were incredibly responsive throughout every phase of every project. They kept us updated, answered questions quickly, and made the entire process feel organized and stress-free.

The craftsmanship has been excellent across the board. The deck came out amazing, the siding and paint completely transformed the look of the house, and everything from the fence to the gutters was done with care and precision. It’s rare to find a company that can handle so many different types of work while maintaining such a consistently high level of quality.

They were professional, reliable, respectful of our property, and clearly take pride in what they do. If you are looking for a contractor that communicates well, pays attention to the small details, and delivers high-quality work, I would absolutely recommend them without hesitation.

Best service ever!! Thanks Val.

We had them replace our roof previously and were happy enough with everything that we had them come back out this fall and replace our gutters.

I am very satisfied with the work Phinix did on my home. The quality of the work and diligence of the workers was excellent!

The team was here for the better part of 6 hours cleaning off several years of moss from my roof. It looks amazing, almost like brand new again. And my gutters are super clean and no longer overflowing. It's wonderful!

Val and his crew worked tirelessly to remodel and modernize a highly complex and strangely constructed 1995 bathroom. Although there some minor issues, these issues were resolved in a timely manner and I would highly recommend Val & his crew for future projects!

The team did a wonderful job creating my new porch. Quick and professional communication. Provided quality work in a timely manner and ensured I was happy with all the work that was being done. I would absolutely use this team again for future projects around my home.

We lost several roof shingles during a holiday snow/ice/wind storm and urgently needed repairs before leaving town. The Phoenix Quality Construction was extremely responsive and answered all of our questions thoroughly. Repairs were completed promptly and during inclement weather no less. Much appreciated!

Amazing work on the new fence and stain, so happy I added the addition to the top of the fence, beautiful. Thank you Val and team!

We had a roof leak after the snow storm and these guys were responsive and provided a quote fast. They helped us by working with our budget and repaired our roof right away. They provided pictures and video of the leak. Amazing job! Thank you so much for your help! We recommend this company for those who need help asap.

I had Phoenix Quality Construction paint the exterior of my home, and it looks great. I would recommend this company to anyone.

TLDR Version: I will hire them again without question!

Phoenix Quality Construction and its owner Val Velasquez are an up-and-coming power in home renovation / construction in the area. They're great to work with and turned my near-teardown inherited house into a safe, beautiful, clean, like-new home and earned me a successful, problem free sale. I recommend them wholeheartedly, with the caveat that there might be communication issues, and you'll need to manage those closely for maximum success with their team.

Highlights:
* Contracted to do a whole rehab on a home that was on track to be a total tear down.
* Of 5 contractors we contacted, PQC came in with an extremely comprehensive bid - not the highest, not the lowest, but the most thoughtful.
* Val Velasquez, the owner of the firm, was our point person and had a great eye for redesign opportunities that weren't even on our menu when going into the rehab.

Work Done:
* All new siding: Hardie board with all new underlay and all bad plywood replaced.
* A new trex deck, The colors and design were great complements to the existing color scheme and worked out well.
* New fencing on 2 sides of the house that was perfectly uniform and plumb.
* Full renos on both bathrooms. Tile was stellar, finish work was precise, refinishes made old cabinets like new.

Highlights:
* While working on the outside of the house, we received feedback from our neighbors that the PQC crews were respectful of their property and mindful of potential sound concerns.
* They were also very careful about neatness and avoiding collateral damage to things when deconstructing a defunct shed.
* All new light fixtures and switches inside and out. >99% wiring success rate. All new to-code wiring passed inspection. Any errors corrected swiftly.
* All new kitchen appliances. They were competitively priced and a selling point.
* All kitchen tile was standout well done. All counter surfaces were very precisely finished.
* All interior paint, flooring, and finishes were replaced. Drywall patching was extremely well done. Superb surface matching and paint matching.
* Personnel issues were handled professionally, discreetly, and the site was kept well secured.

Lowlights:
* Plumbing was a little weak, but was remedied immediately on notice.
* Communication was spotty when Val was not available.

STANDOUT HIGHLIGHTS!
* They manage subcontractors well and steered us away from a crazy foundation contractor who tried to steer us to $50k+ in work when the issue was actually with framing and was fixed for ~$5000.

* We had an emergency issue with a leak caused by a flashing problem at a plumbing vent they'd worked on and Val had someone out and the issue fixed the same day, and the sheetrock replaced in the affected area within 48 hours in the worst of 2024's weather.

I will hire them again and expect them to be huge in the greater Portland metro area.

I don't usually give references but this compay compelled me to offer my sincere appreciation. They not only came to my needs quickly but did two jobs for me with high quality and very reasonable prices. I have since called them and they had a man here the same day. The owner Val is an estremely honorable man and I will always call them first for any home job I have.

It was a real pleasure working with Val and his crew. Very professional and quality work. I will recommend them to anyone. Thank you guys.

Phoenix Roofing replaced our roof this summer (2022) and did a terrific job. Their bid was lower than some others I received, but after some back and forth with a few questions I had it was clear they knew what they were doing and would deliver a high quality result. We were not disappointed! The new roof looks great, they repaired some minor sagging sections and rotting decking, and I can feel confident knowing our roof is now in great shape. They are ethical and stand by their quality work. We noted noise is loader inside the bathroom after installation of the skylight, and they quickly arranged fixing it for us. I recommend them to anyone in need of roof work and would call them again when I'm in need of any roof-related jobs.

Val and his crew did a wonderful job on my roof. It was a complex roofing project given the shape of the roof and scheduling issues. The crew were scrupulous about clean-up. I can highly recommend Phoenix Quality Construction.

I needed some drywall installed around my living room window that was damaged after a roof leak. I had gotten several quotes and ultimately decided to go with Phoenix Construction based on the plan they presented to my wife. She appreciated that they took the time to explain the entire process to her. It was a one man job and He came on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. He taped up plastic sheets around to contain the dust, cleaned up as he worked and the he even showed some techniques to my very curious 8 year old son. I will recommend them to anyone that asks and have a few other jobs in the future that I will be hiring them again.
