I had a great installation experience with Garden Design PDX and Anne Koehler. The crew installed our landscape design (designed by Carol Lindsay of Landscape Design in A Day and my client.)
Their expertise in planting a very large tree was impressive and the crew obviously enjoyed working together and doing a great job. They installed an affordable irrigation timer and soaker hose system which many installers don’t do. I will refer SE Portland installation work to them again. Annie gave us a great design for our backyard. It was covered in weeds and didn't have good dirt. She pulled all the weeds and had a truck bring new dirt. She listened to what we liked and planted a wonderful selection of plants. She and Liz were out there on a very wet day putting plants into the right spots. She was easy to contact and replaced a couple of plants. I highly recommend her!!!!

Annie was great to work with. We felt taken care of as she was very responsive to our questions and needs. Her attention to detail was impeccable, and I think the yard looks fantastic as a result. It's been a joy to see the new plants and trees grow over the past couple of months. Our neighbors have also shared many compliments about the new design.  Highly recommend!

Annie and her crew are absolute superheroes. They tackled my front lawn overhaul with grit, speed, and serious skill—working Monday through Friday, rain or shine, without missing a beat. It was muddy, arduous, HARD work, and they powered through like pros. The transformation is incredible, and their teamwork and work ethic blew me away. It was such a pleasure working with Annie and her crew! Annie came highly recommended, but the landscaping and customer service surpassed all our expectations. The whole extended team at Garden Design is an absolute delight—from the design phase to scheduling and completing the work, we couldn’t be more satisfied with our interactions and the final product. Our yard was truly a pain in the a$$ for the team to access; we don’t have a driveway and are tucked way off the street at the end of a row of townhomes but they took this in stride. They gracefully navigated parking challenges and many of our neighbors commented on their respectful and kind interactions with everyone on the team. I miss having them around the yard and will be so grateful for years to come as we enjoy our gorgeous stone patios and watch the plants grow. Highly recommend! We've used garden design pdx for a few different projects: drip irrigation install, removal of a rotting raised garden bed and reconfiguring/moving another one, and design and install of a foot path. Annie is personable, efficient, and her work is excellent at an affordable price. I've referred many others here and every one I know has had a positive experience! I'm including a couple before and afters of her work.

We recently contracted with Annie Koehler/Garden Design PDX to do a redesign and renovation of our established garden (back yard, front yard, and parking strip) as well as install irrigation for the garden at our home in SE Portland.

We have worked with several building and landscape contractors over the last thirty years. This may have been the best experience that we have had to date. Generally, we found Annie to be personable, professional, organized, and focused on the outcome that we had intended. She was on time and on budget. She kept every commitment she made. The business and financial side of the relationship was clean and clear. She listened carefully to what our hopes and thoughts were about the garden; did her best to align her planning with those hopes and thoughts; and, at the same time, was willing to offer suggestions and ideas different from our own that enhanced the outcome.

This review would be incomplete without acknowledging the contribution of of Annie’s crew: Leah, Cal and Caroline. They showed up on time, divided the day’s tasks, and went to work. Their work ethic was impressive. Everything was cleaned up at end of day. Plants were installed carefully with a willingness to adjust as necessary. We were left with an overall sense that they cared about this work.

We recommend Annie and Garden Design PDX without reservation.

Words cannot express my joy and gratitude for Annie and the entire crew of badass people who work alongside her. After working out the design, our yard was transformed from a mud pit to a glorious piece of landscaped magic. Boulders meticulously arranged, gravel spread and compacted, plants selected and distributed, drip system placed and mulch all over. Not to mention the prompt communication and consistency after the physical work began. The crew showed up at the same time each morning and left the property spotless by days end. 13/10 stars.

Rafael and his crew have taken care of our yard for five years. Their work ethic, dependability, and attention to details receives many compliments from our neighbors.

They are pruners extraordinaire -- My laurel hedges, boxwood hedges and specialty trees are pruned expertly and distinctively. I've used their weekly mowing and blowing services for decades.
They do a wonderful job and I would highly recommend them.
