Attractive community, but out of the way. Has a number of on-site retail vendors, including a good restaurant.

Like any new build, there are some bumps along the way, but Peter in Hastings has managed everything like an absolute rock star. Not only is he quick to help, but he is quick to respond, always available and most importantly honest and open.

My wife and I love our home…inside…with the blinds closed…at night. Over the last year and a half though, it’s been a challenge to enjoy the “Great American Neighborhood” in its entirety. Unbeknownst to us when signing for our home, the view out of our back window would be the “dump” zone for all things construction related for the unforeseen future. As I type this, I hear the beautiful sounds of construction workers swearing and cement trucks flying up and down the construction entrance, churning cement while my wife and I try to work from home and our son tries to nap. I get to enjoy these sounds from 5:30 in the morning, late into the evening. I spend many hours each month cleaning the outside of our home because they still, 3 years later, refuse to water the construction entrance as they are required to. They’ve cut corners, they’re making their profits, so why should anything else matter? The worst part is that this has come to a “Karen-esk” review post because I can’t get in contact with anyone to privately convey my concerns.
If you’re a sparknotes kind of person, here’s the idea…the house on the inside is fair but lies were told, things were not properly disclosed and customer support is nonexistent. -
Nice and quite fresh community!
The construction is still in progress so houses on the developing edges may face a tad more noise and dust. Other than that this is among the nicest new constructions we found around Pittsburgh. -
My family has been in our home almost 6 months, and love the neighborhood. Great for new families, but neighborhood also seems pretty diverse so far in terms of the general Hastings community. We really look forward to seeing how the community continues to grow :)

From start to finish was a great experience with Jessica and our builder George. They were responsive and prompt in answering all our questions and kept us updated throughout the process. 5/5 would build with them again.

We scheduled an appointment with one of the company’s realtors (I’ll leave names out of this) at 1pm. We arrived at 1:03 due to a bridge being out right around the corner from the community. When we arrived for our appointment we were told that our host had left with another couple and wouldn’t be back for some time. This is extremely frustrating since we were never called or notified. The lady in the office was beyond rude and demeaning. She never even introduced herself. It seemed that they just wanted us to leave. After we insisted to just be shown a few of the properties (since we drove over an hour to see them) the lady begrudgingly agreed. We saw a few of the properties and we’re not impressed. Some of the poorest craftsmanship I’d ever seen: gaps along baseboards, carpet not extending to the wall fully, cracked doors from over tightened screws, and so much more. This tour gave us more than enough information to know that we will never buy a home made by Charter Homes.

I have resided in my townhome for a little over two years and have had a very positive experience. Any time I've needed something to be done, Charter has been very responsive. Their employees have been professional and collegial and the work has been more than satisfactory. It's been exciting to see the neighborhood grow and I'm glad I'm a part of it.

Such a cute community. The homes are gorgeous and expertly built.

Neighborhood has brought too much traffic to the area that cannot sustain more cars. Was the major reason for a road to be closed for over a year. Built on former institution grounds, with no mention of the history that once stood there or respect to the area and the people who suffered there. Basically the people living there are existing on haunted grounds in bland cookie cutter structures. Tore down already function infrastructure and beautiful old buildings to build over priced, shoddy and grey new builds that are so close together that you could hear your neighbors snore next door. Truly they squeezed as many houses as they could on this plot of artificially-flattened land. Bizarre neighborhood set up with giant empty swaths of green space without any trees. Soulless and not designed with aesthetics. This neighborhood was designed with greed and solely profit in mind. As someone who values this area and maintaining the natural beauty of the neighborhood, this housing plan is the antithesis of a welcome addition to the area.

We were one of the first families to move into the neighborhood. It has been amazing to see the transformation so far and we are excited for the work still to be done. Our builder was easy to work with making sure we were satisfied every step of the way. He is still willing to help us out with what ever we need. I think it is a great neighborhood and concept.

I love the design and everything about my new home in Hastings Pittsburgh. However, I think the community needs a "sitting park" with benches , trees, and natural landscaping where residents can visit with one another. A sitting park would be nice for the older population and the terra park for the kids. Too many townhouses, homes, and carriage homes packed tightly together become unsightly when the natural environment is removed. Personally, I believe the community would be more attractive to those looking to purchase. I hope you will consider my suggestion.

If you’re looking for a production builder that is built fast and a sloppy mess, choose Charter. I have had nothing but problems since moving in. Every problem I addressed to home care, their answer to my concerns is that it’s “settling issues.” The people they send out to “fix” the problems are so nonchalant and make you feel as if they aren’t a big deal and a easy fix. To add to the list I was cleaning my oven and came across a piece of a wrapper still under my oven with wood chips everywhere. I will post pictures of it. No surprise. Charter does not take pride in anything that they do. They talk up how great all of the shops/restaurants are going to be yet 1.5 years later, nothing. They tell you that they are “ low maintenance homes” yet the only thing I see my monthly HOA fee going towards is cutting the common space greenery. Bushes have been trimmed once since living here. Weeds are not picked. Mulch is not maintained. Invest your money in a company that is willing to put in craftsmanship and that follows through with their promises.

Awesome neighborhood with great quality of construction! Mike and Ashley are great sales managers of the plan. If you are looking for new construction at an affordable price this is the place for you. There is nothing like The Great American Neighborhood that Charter builds. Highly Recommend looking at the Hastings plan if you are in the market for new construction!

Jess and Rosie were just as great as my new home!

We moved in to our Charter home at Hastings two years ago. The design is superior, timeless and more unique than what we saw from other builders. We are extremely happy with the build and our lot. Every time we walk into our home, my family is happy. And any issues we’ve had were handled by an amazing team of pros, from Andy to Kim to Jared to Jake. Plus, Wes and Rick have been super responsive. We’ve owned two other homes. And neither of them came close to what we have in Charter. As our neighborhood grows, we love to see the vision of our neighborhood come to life with the shops and variety of homes.

I moved into my new townhome at the end of September. My Sales Manager Jessica was helpful, patient and very kind. The whole experience was positive. I love living here. I feel safe and love the neighborhood!
