I reached out to have Schock Group complete a residential property survey, which included a private drive. Survey was delivered +30 days after completion of work, but did not impact building project. My one concern is communication, particularly for any issues identified during property survey to avoid questions post work completion.

Can't recommend Kaller Roofing enough! Mike & Rich did a great job installing a new roof with copper pole gutter and chimney flashing as well as miscellaneous gutter and siding work in other parts of the house. Chuck, the supervisor, was on site often to check on things, and owner Ray Kaller even showed up a couple of times. All work was done in a timely manner and on budget. Another superb roofing job completed this month (Feb 2024) by Kaller roofing crew: Rich, Carlos, Charlie, and Angel! They replaced the flat deck portion of our roof, which was major undertaking, including a new skylite, two venting units, and replaced numerous hip ridge tiles. Their workmanship and professionalism were amazing. The work was completed in a week. They had to haul 6 layers of roofing. They left our property in a clean condition. Overall, every experience that I had had with roofing work done by Kaller has been great!

Very happy to recommend Kaller Roofing after the fabulous job "Mike" and "Rich" did on our slate roof; their work ethic pretty impressive. Kaller roofing fixed the roof on our storage shed. We don’t have a basement, so this large storage space was very important to us. I had gotten several other roofing companies to come out and they didn’t want the job. It was complicated because of a back masonry wall issue etc. But when Chuck Keller came out to have a look, I could tell immediately that this was a ‘contractor’s contractor’ kind of a company. Chuck recognized the complexity of the situation, came up with a great plan to fix the issues, was honest and straightforward with me about the price, and even offered to have my husband and I come to his office to discuss further after we had a chance to talk about it. He was always immediately accessible by phone or text and really took the time with us to answer all our questions. The two guys who did he job were excellent. They came at 7am everyday, were never late, were very professional and pleasant, cleaned up well at the end of the day, and finished the job quickly. Chuck checked in along the way with us and them. I will always use them for roofing issues from now until the end of Time! They are worth every penny and your job will be done right the first time.

My wife and I recently moved. We were looking to have a new roof put on. We had called many different roofers, and they all gave us the same song and dance. Creating a sense of fear that our roof was going to fall apart, but then we called Chuck at Kaller roofing. Chuck was prompt and professional. He listened to our needs and took the time to understand our position. Out of every roofer we met Chuck was clearly the most honest. He didn't give us a bunch of malarky. He gave it to us straight. What we needed and why we needed it done. He has saved us at this point thousands of dollars and countless headaches. He took the time to educate us on our cedar roof. How our cedar roof works. Kaller replaced some aluminum flashing and one valley with copper on our slate roof where we had a small leak that was apparent in our bathroom. Carlos and the crew did an outstanding job in a little under 2 days. Kaller was able to fit us in between a couple of jobs in our neighborhood which was very much appreciated. We have used them several times for roof upgrades and new gutter installation and have been very pleased with the work. I would certainly use them again if the need arises.

The experience with Kaller from first contact through completion has been a pleasure. It was a complicated project with main slate roof repairs, replacing roofs on porches and extensive built in box gutters that were rebuilt and lined with copper. Communication with the whole team was prompt and seamless. We were kept informed of any changes as subsurface problems were discovered. The team on site, Richie, Carlos, Charlie and Christian, were outstanding. Prompt, polite, clean and excellent workmanship down to the last detail.
We will continue to use Kaller for all our roofing needs and will highly recommend them to others who need roofing work done.

I’ve used Kaller roofing for three different jobs over 10 years. They are always prompt and finish in a timely fashion. The work is excellent quality. It’s difficult to find a good slate roof technician for my random farmhouse style roof. Chuck Kaller is always very responsive and answers his phone when I try to contact him very promptly. we recently had a leak in a different area that had not been worked on before and they fixed it very timely fashion and with excellent quality. 5 Stars!

We regret ever working with Kaller Roofing.

First - There was bad communication throughout our 2021 project, and they left debris in our yard.

Second - We were advised in 2021 that, though our tile roof had some minor problems, it did not need repair and would be fine for at least a decade. In 2024, we asked them to quote repair work for a few tiles that fell off. The company suddenly found multiple issues that needed thousands of dollars of repairs (for things that were unchanged from their original 2021 visit) and were unrelated to the tiles that fell. When we asked about this (we have pictures from their original project to show no changes), they tried to pretend that they had always seen these issues but just had never mentioned them before (but did not explain why).

Third - In 2021, Chuck was more than 30mins late to every appointment/consult (never contacted us to say that he was running late). In 2022, we received multiple 'wrong number' calls from Chuck when he was trying to contact other Kaller customers.
After our project, Chuck had told us to call him directly if there were ever any questions about the roof, but when we reached out in 2024, he told us that he had never worked on our property and to stop calling him (we only called once). We had to contact the main office to have them reach out to Chuck to explain to him that he had worked on our property.
After no-showing for appointments twice in 2024, Chuck came out to our home to look at the potential project, but we found him trespassing on our neighbors property. After this, we contacted Kaller Roofing about sending someone else out because we did not want to work with Chuck. The owner (Ray) called us and assured us that he would send someone else out and would reach out to Chuck about these issues. Nothing that Ray promised on the phone was delivered, and the company still sent Chuck out to our home the next week (and he was late once again).

We ended up hiring another company, and we strongly advise that you stay away from Kaller Roofing.

Ray Kaller and his colleagues recently completed a large slate roof/flashing/coping/ gutter job on our 100 year old Vermont Slate Roof. Their attention to detail and professional explanation of the issues were great. I would highly recommend the Kaller and Sons team.

This is the second of two very good experiences with Kaller Roofing working on my 100-year-old slate roof. This job, Rich, rebuilt a lower section of one roof and flashed and covered the many vent pipes. He was professional, knowledgeable, timely, diligent, and explained his work throughout the project. And Ray, thanks for stopping by. When my next roofing need arises, I will be calling Kaller.

Updated Oct 2023 - another great job by Kaller Roofing and the Team. Mike and the guys did a great job once again working on the crickets and chimney area. Always very pleased with the work they do. Chuck being super responsive and helpful with the quote and explaining the job and timing and then Mike and team working on the roof. Great job all around.

The Team at Kaller Roofing was great from start to finish. Chuck was very responsive and explained everything clearly. Mike Austin was meticulous in all of the work he did at our home (slate repair and replacement, copper ridge and hip capping, copper vent pipe collars, copper snow guards, etc.), was very professional and always punctual. It is rare these days that someone shows as much care for their craft as Mike. He took the time to make sure things were aligned, symmetrical, true, plumb, etc. both at the roof level and from the street and yard level. He took time to explain things to me when I had questions and was always super nice, careful and courteous. He has a great attention to detail and it is clear that safety is very important to him, which is great to see. He always cleaned up at the end of the day and was very personable. Even the owner Ray came by from time to time to see how things were going and to make sure Kaller was meeting our expectations. I would say Kaller exceeded our expectations and would not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

The short version of this review is that the roofers from Kaller who worked on our roof (Carlos, Rich, Charlie, and Angel) were professional, knowledgeable, courteous, communicative, prompt, and neat (as one can be when working three stories up).They took very good care of our 100-year-old slate roof.

The longer version: We recently bought a 100-year old house with a slate roof, and we wanted to have the roof looked at to see what condition it was in and what maintenance it may have needed. We called Kaller because they were recommended by a neighbor, and we also called two other roofing companies. We chose Kaller because their Project Manager, Chuck, who came out to examine the roof, seemed very knowledgeable and was NOT a high-pressure salesman. The most visible issue at first was rusted valleys, a lack of some ridge caps, and some damaged slate. As they started working, they also found some corroded flashing and damaged siding in spots. The things they found once they started work did result in the project getting more expansive (and more expensive), but it was handled very well. They took pictures of the damage they found, so we didn't have to "trust them" that some additional work was needed---it was obvious from the pictures that there were problems, even to a layman. We had the choice as to whether we wanted to include the additional work. When we agreed, they gave us a change order with the price additions clearly listed that we had to sign before the additional work was done, so there were no surprises as to the final costs.

Their workday was from 7-3, and they showed up on time every day, and worked a full day every day. One day, they stayed late to ensure they could get the project done before a forecasted snow storm. The project work started before Christmas and ended after the New Year, which wasn't ideal, but the company was willing to change their work schedule to accommodate our wishes (we were having an overnight guest and did not want them working on certain days).

Because our house has almost no insulation, we could hear them working and talking outside through the walls and windows. Never once did we hear any foul or insulting language from any member of the crew. We are very appreciative of that.

They cleaned up the debris each day at the end of work, and did a very thorough job cleaning up at the end. We went out to inspect our driveway for nails and other sharp debris before we brought our vehicles back, and we did not find a single nail.

Finally, the work they did looks fantastic! More importantly, we feel that it will go a long ways toward protecting our home from the elements long into the future. We would recommend them for roofing work, especially if you have an old slate roof. They know their stuff.

Finding a quality roofer is not an easy task. I expected any number of businesses in the Mainline to be able to work on our slate and flat roofs as a matter of routine. Unfortunately, I was wrong about consistent and durable quality with other companies. Kaller & Sons, in fortunate distinction, repaired and improved our roof to a finished product that works and gives me peace of mind. Lead by Chuck Taylor, his crew of Rich, Carlos, Charlie, and Christian provided first-rate service. They are professional, they are knowledgeable, and best of all, they are capable. I need honesty, reliability, and effectiveness from the businesses that I deal with for my home. I am no longer worried about my roof as long as I can work with Kaller. Thanks guys.

Update February 2024: Rich, Carlos, Charlie, Angel, and Chuck did such a great job on the house that I asked them back to work on the garage/carriage house. Once again, they were professional, clean, and efficient. I highly recommend them for any roofing needs.

I am very pleased with the new roof, gutters, copper flashing and concrete chimney crown installed by Kaller Roofing. The roofing team (Carlos, Rich, Charlie and Angel) were extremely profession and definitely experienced in their trade. Carlos keep me updated daily and made some excellent recommendations. I will positively recommend Kaller & Sons to anyone who is looking for a top of the line total roofing project.

Kaller Roofing -Carlos, Rich, Charlie and Angel - just finished replacing my roof. It was a big job. The wood under the shingles was rotted so the entire roof needed to be rebuilt. The gutters needed to be replaced and the downspouts. They did a beautiful job. Every detail was perfect. The weather was very hot but they worked hard through it all, for 2 weeks. I could not be more delighted with the final result and I recommend them highly.

We had our roof and gutters and some siding replaced thus winter. Final product looks great. We had some rotten wood and a few tricky areas that needed carpentry work and they were to handle all of it. Everyone was professional and courteous throughout.
