Incredibly nice, professional and thorough. A rare find in Pittsburgh. We hired him for electrical work on a total renovation project and he worked out wonderfully. Highly recommended.

I would recommend J.L. Smith Electric to anyone. They were on time, very professional and easy to communicate with. They did a great job and you would be hard pressed to find a more reasonable price for their services.

Unprofessional and unresponsive, once paid the bulk of the cost of the job (which he insisted on) it would take multiple calls to get him to return to work. When he would finally show up it would be for a couple hours still not completing the work. Left us high and dry, never completed the job and did not do what he said he would do.

They did an amazing job installing lighting in our basement. It looks beautiful. They are so friendly and easy to work with. Would recommend to anyone who needs electric service.

SCAM ARTIST. I had J.L. Smith come in to have a cable wire installed, and he 1) charged me $15 more than the top end he mentioned on the phone ($215 total), and 2) made several holes in my basement ceiling which he just covered with blanks, 3) ruined my baseboard with his drill, 4) pulled the cable wire through the living room floor and then back into the wall above the baseboard (leaving the wire exposed), 5) didn't show me how the wire was exposed until I asked why he was drilling through the floor, and then 6) tried to tell me that's normal for the wire to be exposed and no one would see it because it was behind a shelf. All the while trying to sell me on doing other jobs around my house. He talks very sweetly on the phone but did such a terrible job. Would never recommend and will never call again. I don't know how this man has such high reviews on Facebook and Thumbtack.

John was super professional and helped me when I was in an emergency situation with my power! He came in lower in price then others and spent the entire day getting my wiring safe and replaced everything quickly!

My friend contacted them for a kitchen electrical job and they showed up the same day, sent a quote and did an amazing job the very next day! They were professional in every way, very fair about the pricing and cleaned up when the work was completed. Would highly recommend!

They were very accommodating, even with me reaching out last minute and asking for their help. They came a few days later and were prompt, timely, clean and efficient when installing my doorbell. I was nervous about someone drilling into my brick wall, but they did a great job and exceeded all expectations. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

These guys are incredible! I had a faulty main feed and breaker box that I knew of for some time, more recently it posed a safety concern. After explaining to JL Smith Electric my issue, they took time out of their busy week to come correct everything and make my home safe again. These guys were quick, clean, and efficient, knowledgeable and personable.

JL Smith Electric came highly recommended, and they did not disappoint! We had them install recessed lighting, replace an old outdoor outlet, and install a wired video doorbell all in the same day. The highlight of the project has to be the recessed lights in the living room with a dimmer switch. It is a night and day difference in that room! These guys are pros and charge a very fair price. They even patched all of their holes before leaving. I will be using them as my electrician of choice moving forward!

Highly recommended! Completed a complicated solar battery and related equipment installation as a sub for another company. Clear understanding of best practices and code requirements. Did an excellent job with great attention to detail. Found a poorly done grounding lead in our main panel and also corrected that. Nice guys, thorough, worked cleanly, and made certain we were happy with the results. What more can you ask for?
