I had McFarland come out to replace a flower bed that had mulch and fountain grass. They showed up on the day as promised and did the job quickly and professionally!

They offered a fair price and delivered great results!

Great firm with super professional, accommodating, and personable crews. We needed them to trim back overflowing shrubs/plantings and to climb a very old elm tree with overgrown branches. All of these were blocking sun in our garden. The before and after were at a great price and their work was terrific. Not only that, they are also great communicators, and they did a solid job of cleaning-up. They were careful in our home, and we would definitely hire them again. McFarland is a family business, and it shows in how they treat their clients. Recommended.

I recently used McFarland to have some branches that were hitting my house removed and also to get my property cleaned and bushes trimmed. Greg arrived on time and he knew his stuff! He took the time to answer all my questions and when his guys showed up to do the work they did a solid job! Greg returned to make sure I was happy with the work. I recommend this company and will definitely use them again!

I had the wonderful experience of using McFarland-Shechtman Tree Service on June 18, 2024. Mr. Casey came to my home with the two worker's and introduced them to me so I would be aware of the person's working in my yard. I had a 25-30 foot tree to be trimmed. The workers were extremely careful not to damage any of their surroundings on my property. The tree was trimmed so perfectly that it appeared to be a beautiful magazine display. They cleaned my property as if it was a personal assignment. They spoke respectful/friendly/knowledgeable. This company is definitely a 5 star when it comes to picture perfect work and affordable pricing. I would recommend them to the White House in Washington. If you want to go far with your tree service please use McFarland for all of your landscaping services

Nick is so responsive and really talks with you about the best tree for your space. From our first conversation to removal of our old tree and sourcing and planting of a new tree took less than a week. We couldn’t be happier with the new tree. Beautiful and healthy to provide us shade for years to come.

McFarland has been caring for the trees and shrubs at our home for 30 years. We value their advice, their preventive efforts, and the thoughtful and effective pruning work they do periodically. Recently, they provided some much-needed help for volunteers who needed to refurbish a planting bed in our neighborhood park, McMichael Park. They assessed our specific needs and skillfully set up our volunteers to make a visible difference.

Nick was great to work with and did a fantastic job installing new trees. He also helped pick a design for the tree enclosure and select the right variety for our use case. Not afraid to work in the city. Thanks!

Nick and his team were ultra-fast and responsive. They put in a beautiful cedar fence, ground down a stump and re-laid chip stones in our backyard after removing a dying tree a couple of years ago. We are very happy with the work and will co to use to use their services for all our tree maintenance and landscaping needs.

Nick and his team did an amazing job repaving our driveway/courtyard! They completely transformed the space and not only do the brick pavers look beautiful but underneath they built a robust base with great drainage away from the house. Communication was great and Nick gave us opportunity to chime in when decisions needed to be made.

Keith Budd and crew did landscaping maintenance for my front lawn and the backyard. Keith was on time, had a smile on his face, listened to what I needed and did his upmost to do an excellent job. See my before and after pictures. I can’t thank Keith enough for all he did. I am so happy that McFarland picked up when I called. I am very pleased and very satisfied with the work that I had done.

The previous owner of our house had torn out the patio and installed several raised garden beds. At some point, she stopped taking care of them, and by the time we moved in, the backyard was totally dilapidated. We're talking Grey Gardens level—busted, rotting garden beds, trash, and mounds and mounds of dirt. The first picture was after we had three different crews come out to remove trash and other debris.

Nick's crew worked quickly and turned our backyard into a space we love to spend time in. The brickwork is beautiful, and now we can actually use our parking space, which is such a boon in South Philly. Because of our good experience with them, we've had them back out to repair a tree planter, and trim branches. We'll call on them again in the future whenever we need landscaping work.

So glad we used McFarland for our landscaping needs! Working with Nick was great. He was easy to communicate with, came with an abundance of knowledge, and had great ideas for the overall design of the project. The install happened next day after putting down a deposit and it was complete in a matter of hours. These guys are the real deal. Worth every penny.

we had our trees trimmed by a great crew, Eric, Yoshi and Chucky.They were very professional, polite, exceedingly tidy in their work and did an excellent job. They were communicative about the work as they proceeded. We are very satisfied with the work that was performed. Nick Chrin, who was our liaison, was also excellent to work with--again very professional, very communicative and responsive. He explained things well to us, gave us good advice and kept us very well informed.
We are pleased with the work and the service that McFarland has provided to us.

Hired McFarland because of the positive reviews and my experience with them was the exact opposite. They were hired to cut two trees, one was cutting a maple tree away from my roof, and the other was a large oak tree that overhangs my driveway. The project manager and his team arrived to discuss the job. Once agreed, he left and said he would return at the end of the job to ensure it was complete. They did exactly what was discussed for the maple, hence the two stars. However, for the tree in the back, they only cut a few branches. The work order said “remove large double low over car area and reduce weight in the rest of the branches over car parking area.” As you can see, there are still several large branches that overhang my driveway. To my surprise, the project manager (Locke) never returned at the end of the day and the guys left. I began reaching out via email with photos within days of the job being complete asking when they would come back and complete the job. I sent several emails (8) and was told by the admin they would forward to Locke and he would be in touch. He responded once asking for me to text him. So, I did. No reply. In fact, he didn’t bother to reply to any of my emails. Finally, after 9 weeks, I reached out one last time to express my disappointment. He finally responded saying he came back and confirmed the job was complete. (That was a lie because I have cameras and he never showed up.) He also said “ I don't want to come back and cut your neighbor's tree more than it should be cut.” So, he never bothered to speak to us OR come back to look at it. He just said he wasn’t coming back. I paid only for the work that was completed.

If this is how this business operates, I suggest you look elsewhere. It’s lacking in both customer service and willingness to see a job through to completion.

Paid for services, and they were never completed. Owner is a cheat, and fraud. Do not do business with this company.
