In two days of work, Archie and the team completed 4 tree removals, 3 trimming projects, cabled a massive maple 🍁 and cleaned up all the wood with precision and care. There was minimal damage to the grass/yard and talked through each stage of the work with us. True professionals who listened and made careful observations before recommending the best care option for each tree in question. Of the 4 local tree services that I have used, Northwood is far superior.

Couldn't ask for a better crew. Arch is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly cares deeply for the health of the environments he works in. The crew was extremely professional and the price was very reasonable for the scope of the work on our older trees. We'll be looking no further for future work.

The crew was efficient and net, cleaning up everything after they were done. They did great work. We had some issues on the first date they were planning to do the work and were good enough to reschedule and come back out. I was also very pleased with the free estimate and evaluation they gave us and we were happy to be able to save the big, old tree in our yard.

ORIGINAL REVIEW FROM 2021: I couldn't be more pleased with the work of Northwood Tree Care. Arch Autenreith (owner) obviously loves trees, and that love shapes his whole business. He really knows his stuff. His attention to detail earned my trust immediately, and then his arborist skills, expert staff, and (quiet!) equipment made the whole job a pleasure. I highly recommend him.

UPDATE 2025: A recent windstorm ripped two large branches from my backyard tree. Once again I hired Northwood Tree Care, and I couldn't be more pleased with their caring service. Both team members were extremely knowledgeable about not just my tree and how best to preserve and prolong its life, but also about my native garden and care for birds. What a pleasure. And I was allowed to keep the resulting chipped wood for my own garden use. Top notch experience!

The two person crew came exactly on time as scheduled. They removed very large broken dangling branches hovering over neighboring fences with precision and in a tidy manner.
Cleaned up and took more debris than contracted and area looked liked they were never there.
Highly recommend this company. I am having them come back in the Fall to trim up foliage over and around the home.

I had a ~50-year-old pin oak hanging over and hitting my house. NTC were professional, very knowledgeable, skilled, and took their time getting branches taken off and reshaping the tree at large. They were also very safety conscience. I'm happy with the job they did and recommend them highly. Their price was a fair price too.

If I could put 6/5 stars I would. I have a massive 250+ year old oak tree in Sewickley that I wanted to have pruned and was concerned about the tempermental nature of oaks. Arch was extremely professional and spent 45 min with me to explain exactly what he was going to do and why so that the health of the tree was top priority. He followed that up with a detailed quote with attached pictures. Needless to say the execution of the work was flawless.
I had 4 tree companies give me quotes for tree work and Arch stood out by far as the most passionate and most professional. I still can't believe the value I got with his work, b/c he has the best rates of anyone and the quality of work was top-notch. He is the one you want working on your tree(s).

Eric from Northwood Tree Care came to assess the trees and shrubs on my property and sent a detailed estimate of work to be done oak, maple, smoke bush, spruces, etc. He came back with a large crew of about 6 men and women and spent a day pruning and trimming according to plan. They were very careful. I loved their work and would highly recommend them.

The Northwood Tree Care team was awesome!! Thorough, communicative, and did a great job caring for our 100+ year old tree.

Arch and his team removed a fallen oak tree that stratled our shed without crushing it. One of the larger branches of the tree prevented a total collapse from destroying the shed. He and his team meticulously, using all his technical skills, block and tackle, and ropes galore to first stabilize and saw this tree piece by piece. It was a long process taking many hours to complete. This oak had to have been 100 years old. It was large enough that you couldn't place your arms around it. The end result is the tree is gone no damage to our shed. Arch and his team are extremely professional and quite talented.

Archie and his team did a fantastic job in pruning a very large black cherry tree and doing a root excavation on one of our maples. They were very communicative and the initial review of our property and the actual work were done on schedule. Archie even followed up the next day to make sure I was satisfied with the work that was done. I would highly recommend Archie and his team.

Arch and his team of Arborists planted a Dawn Redwood for my mom, who lives in the Penn Hills area. I am a tree guy living in Kentucky, and through emails and texts, Arch was able up plant a beautiful Dawn Redwood that will grow for decades to come. Great communication from start to finish. Arch is one of those "salt of the earth" people. Just a great experience from start to finish.

Fantastic company!! If you need work done on any of your trees, Arch and his team can be your first and last call. They are extremely responsive, very thorough, easy to work with, and absolute experts in their field. We lost a huge old oak in a storm. Other companies told us it couldn’t be removed (due to the size and location) or quoted prices that were simply astronomical. Northwood was more than fair in their pricing and their service was absolutely impeccable. We are delighted and will gladly use them again.

Archie and Northwood Tree Care have been caring for our 100yr old Sweetgum tree for 5 years now. The tree is as healthy as it can be, and it's a magnificent anchor for the street.
