Seems like from other reviews they’re great if you need emergency work done! But don’t bother getting a quote for your project work. Sure feels like they’re out here fishing for suckers.

I’m upgrading from a 100 amp to a 200 amp panel. Getting a few quotes. Reached out to wire doctors because they have great reviews.

They charge an $89 fee to come out to do a quote. That kinda bites, but I get it. I’m sure it helps cover costs and screens people out.

Guy came next day which was great!

They quoted me $11,500. Said they would offer a “discount” (which to me is just a blatant fake sales tactic) of $4000 and really didn’t give a reason for offering said “discount”.

To the wire Doctors - AI is here now guys. Your customers can check your quotes. I sent AI pictures of the circuit breaker, and the meter outside. Our job is relatively straightforward. We’ve got overhead cabling coming into the house, so no trenching will be needed. Sure we’ll need grounding rods installed, an emergency shutoff switch, and (supposedly) a surge protector is also required by NJ state code. But that does not justify the price that was quoted.

I understand there might be something I don’t understand or am missing. But I am very skeptical. I’ll take this review down if I am missing something here. But I won’t if I’m not convinced.

Careful doing business with these folks! I’m sure they do great work. Just make sure they don’t take you for a ride!

Jamie went above and beyond to make sure our issue was resolved. All the staff are very friendly, professional, and passionate about the work they do. Not only was our problem fixed, but they had it working better than before the issue developed. Could not be happier with their service, highly recommend!

The wire doctor came to assist me at my site with two separate emergency’s. A broken HVAC unit and exhaust fan. We formulated a plan and Jim the tech executed them both perfectly. Had me up and running in record time . I would definitely recommend

Emergency room pricing.
If you have an emergency, and don’t care about cost, The Wire Doctors might be a good option.

I explained I had several electric projects I needed someone to scope out. The show up fee was $89. That doesn’t go towards any work eventually, it’s just $89 flat.

When the technician arrived, they were friendly and knowledgeable about basic electric work, but couldn’t help with more advanced questions.

They found two outlets that didn’t work. They quoted me another $327 to diagnose and fix the outlet problem.

While that’s an insane amount of money for an outlet replacement, I agreed to it.

After they finished replacing the outlets, they told me it was going to be another $254 for labor and parts. 🤯

That’s a grand total of $670.00 for a decent conversation and two outlet replacements.

When I called the company afterwards, they refunded $150 and asked for a 5-star review.

The technician said they would get back to me with a quote to replace my can lighting with led lights. They never got back to me with a quote (which I’m sure would have been over my budget).

I recently contacted The Wire Doctors for a problem that I was having with a timer switch that kept tripping my circuit breaker. Within minutes, Jamie called me back and set up an appointment the same day. Jim from The Wire Doctor came out and found what he thought was the problem but later that night the circuit tripped again. I again contacted Jamie and she responded within minutes again and had Jim come back the next day and advised us to change out some old power strips we had and that plus what Jim found in one of the light fixtures seemed to be the problem and all seems to be working fine now. The Wire Doctors were friendly, professional, and very thorough when it comes to their work and dealing with customers. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that is in need of an experienced electrician!

Wire Doctors was able to schedule a visit in less than 24 hours (their office employee Jamie is cheerful and attentive) for an electric pool heater installation. Their technician, Jim, was not only knowledgeable, but also very polite and professional. After a quick assessment, Jim explained the scope of work, gave a fair price estimate (theirs is the second quote I received, significantly below the first one), and was prepared to get the job done with the materials in his van without a trip anywhere. He entertained my curiosity about the work, diagnosed and solved a mechanical/noise problem we noticed when the unit turned on.

When potential customer calls, there is a dispatch fee. The fee is well worth it given the fairness of their pricing. Don’t let the fee be a deterrent.

We had the best experience with The Wire Doctors!! We had an emergency and Scott was on-Site in a matter of 4 hours!! Got here at 6:30pm and worked till 2:30am just so we could get our power back.
