I've used this same office for chiller plant maintenance at two companies both with extremely large chiller plants that serve a large campus. JCI is always available when I've placed an emergency call and our regular tech, who I've been lucky to have at both places, has always gone above and beyond.

Price gouging for an oil burner tuneup. Charging 100% more than last year. Blaming it on gas prices which is ridiculous.

    Very poor service
Chris B the technician cancelled the first appointment which was rescheduled for the day. He did not show the next day. I waited 30 minutes. When l called the office. The office contacted him and he replied was that he had to go home due to an emergency.
I will never recommend this company.

Kevin was great from the start including being prompt, polite, and knowledgable. Everything he said would happen did, and it was on time and on budget. His staff was equally kind and responsive. I would wholeheartedly recommend Total comfort to anyone for HVAC without hesitation.

I would recommend this company to anyone! Fastest service, great service, and such a kind person.. He left me feeling much better about my situation than I expected to feel. Thank you Kevin for all your help and getting here so fast!

Update on install service: Amazing install job, explain everything once completed and cleaned up after themselves and left my home the way it was before arriving!

Kevin provides such great service! A+++

We had a 6-zone Mitsubishi system installed in our house. What a fantastic job! This offer was the best of four others and the proposed equipment was the latest model unlike some of the other quotes. Kevin's team works very professionally. Each day after work all rubbish is thoroughly cleaned out. The entire job was done in two days. Our house is finally comfortably cool from corner to corner on both floors and all my rhododendrons and hostas survived the renovation. I am curious about the efficiency of this system during the famous New England's winters but that is for another day... THANK YOU!!!

We had Total Comfort (owned and operated by Kevin Andrade) install a mini-split system and gas boiler/water heater in our home a little over a year ago. Since his installation, we have had to spend around $2,000 and countless hours of time to get the numerous issues fixed that resulted from his very shoddy and neglectful work, which he dismissed and refused to acknowledge and correct. Some of these were serious issues with the boiler that were potentially house damaging and water damage from improperly installed and insulated mini-split lines. Poor communication and uncaring attitude throughout the entire process from beginning (starting after he received the deposit) to end. I have a work colleague who had her mini-split system installed by him and he would not go back to fix her issues either (and also damaged her property during installation), and she has heard of others who have had similar problems. When I had my old boiler removed from my basement (which he was supposed to have done), the work crew all knew who he was and had very negative things to say about his work and professionalism. Very surprising that there are not more negative reviews on him (which, by the way, his website's page that supposedly contains the good reviews is a blank page). You will get nothing even close to the treatment that his website claims/shows. There are many other HVAC providers out there, and you will be better off by choosing essentially anyone but Kevin. Check other reviews I have given to show that I am not an 'impossible to please' customer but have been very happy with the other work I've had done on my house.

Thumbs up! Kevin was knowledgable, patient and explained everything so I could understand it (which is no small feat). He really went above and beyond in our switch from oil heat over to mini split heat pumps to heat our home. His quote was reasonable, better than most we got. The job was quick and well cleaned up. He advised us on how to get our home heated more efficiently with the new system and followed up when I had a (small unrelated to the work he did) issue. We had a great experience and will use Total Comfort Heating & Cooling again if/when the need arises. Thanks again, Kevin!

Total Comfort just completed installation of a new boiler and Heat Pump Hot Water Heater at my house. Kevin explained the various options for my house and what he would install if it was his own house he genuinely cares. Installation was delayed due to availability of parts from the distributor (no surprise there supply chain issue) Kevin was in communication thru the whole process and assured me that it would be completed on the rescheduled date which it was. Kevin completed the job in one day and thoroughly cleaned up after, he arranged for a company to dispose of the old boiler which they picked up in less than 48 hours after he was done. The quality of work was 5 stars Kevin is a master of his craft. Don’t hesitate to use Total Comfort for your HVAC needs.

Kevin did a great job installing my air handler about six years ago, and I was initially very happy with his work. However, when a leak developed, things took a turn. He came out in the fall to inspect it and mentioned he’d ordered the necessary part—but after that, he became completely unresponsive. Despite multiple attempts to reach him by phone, email, and text, I never received a reply. Eventually, I had to give up and hire another company, who came promptly and resolved the issue without any hassle.

I had a Mitsubishi heat pump & heat pump water heater installed last year by Kevin. I had issues with getting my CleanHeat RI heat pump rebate approved because even though his company was listed as an approved installer on the RI Energy approved contractor list there was some paperwork or licensing that had to be updated before I could be approved. I handled all the communication between CleanHeat RI and Total Comfort when I felt it really should have been Kevin handling it but I did finally get my rebate. Kevin gave me a very competitive price for the system so I would have given 4 stars if I didn’t have to ask him numerous times to come by to bolt down the heat pump to the pad, he finally did this but I felt that was something I shouldn’t have had to request & should have been done during the installation. Lastly I had a pest control company do an inspection because I was hearing critters in my attic. They informed me that my house is sealed very well except for the areas that the heat pump pipes/wires entered my house. He literally didn’t put anything to block entry into the raceway to my attic or basement making a nice mouse highway straight into my house (the exterior photos show the raceway now blocked by the pest company with rodent mesh, the interior photo was before it was blocked). Luckily, knock on wood & fingers crossed, I have not had other issues with the quality of the installation or the heat pump itself like some other people have noted in the reviews.

Harrison was great, conscientious, personable, and thorough. The only problem is that the system had to be reset 72 hours after the service call. My ask at the start of the service call was to ensure that the furnace would work through this heating season. This was not accomplished.

Had a contract with Petro Oil to service my furnace , 22 years they had been maintaining it. Unfortunately last year they came out and put the wrong nozzle and filter in. The furnace locked out and I ended up calling Gem because we had no heat for two days. Gem’s technician, Harrison, was amazing. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, explaining everything he did and recommended replacement of another part. He got the furnace back up and running in time for the big snow storm we had. Pricing was a little high, but they came out on a weekend and it was an emergency so it’s to be expected. Am very happy with the job they did and will definitely be using them again in the future.

When my well tank sprang a late-night leak, Abraham called within 15 minutes of my emergency service request. He walked me through everything I needed to do to stop the leak and came to my house the next morning. The repair was done well and in a timely manner, and Abraham even found a way to save me a bit on the cost. I'll be calling GEM for future work and recommending them to others!

Later post: Sharing this for awareness to be weary of contractors and do your due diligence in getting various quotes etc. I had a back up on my property’s main line back in end of Dec 2024. Prior to GEM, I had a Roto-Rooter technician that came out while I was out of town and had a tenant present while they came. The issue was NOT resolved.

I then reached out to GEM. They said they’d have someone come to snake the main line. I was upstairs working by this time as I had returned back. He never called me that day to say hey come downstairs to see us snake even though they were supposed to. At that time I had 0 idea of plumbing and they suggested I get the p trap removed and replaced with a pvc one. As the main line was still backed up I felt like I had no other option.

Water was still backing up after the pvc p trap work was done and I had 0 clue as to how this was still occurring. Imagine 2 technicians from 2 separate companies came and still.

I bought wet vacuums and had to struggle taking out buckets of water at the time in the middle of the winter. I went back and forth telling them that something is wrong/and they must’ve not snaked as they should’ve and if a technician comes again it should be on the house. The most they said they’d do is waive the dispatch fee. When the technician came I made sure it was near the end of my work day and to ask questions, be present for the camera inspection, basically be there from start to finish. All of a sudden the main line is no longer backing up and I’ve been fine since February 2025. In reflecting back I’m sure there was no need to remove the old p trap but hey you live and learn- however this lesson cost me heavy. I’m giving 2 stars bc the technicians that came I dealt with were overall professional. Also in all of this I was informed my home internal main valve for the full house was corroded which I replaced with another company as GEM was charging an arm and a leg.

Melinda was an absolute delight when setting up my work order. She walked me through the entire process including service fee and ETA of technician. Would definitely recommend using GEM due to her high level of customer service!
