Signature Illumination Designs provided landscape lighting for our flower beds and trees. Their service was prompt and thorough, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Not only is the lighting beautiful, but it provides security for our property. We would highly recommend this company.

Scott and his team have been doing our exterior electrical for a few years. Their expertise, lighting knowledge and creativity have transformed our outdoor living area to a cozy welcoming environment. Recently they tackled an indoor remodel and offered suggestions such as rope lighting underneath our islands and bar, and added ubs charging outlets in our kitchen and study. Everyone who comes over comments on the functionality and practicality of their suggestions. I’d highly recommend Signature Illumination designs for your electrical needs!

The Signature Illuminations Design team did a complete and excellent job at our home. They provided us with a clean, simple and beautiful design proposal, and they did not try to over-sell us on any other stuff we did not need. They were able to answer questions on total cost of ownership, including annual operating expense, and they follow-up regularly to check on any maintenance needs. I commented to them that I like to walk the dog in the evening just so I can enjoy the lighting of our home 'on the way out' and 'on the way back' to our house from our walk. I highly recommend Signature Illumination Designs to any homeowner or business owner who is looking to enhance their home or business with lighting.

If you want top quality of design, product and implementation this is the place. They did a great job with down lights and up lights at our home with a very dramatic result. Along the vein of “you get what you pay for” it is possible to find cheaper but not better. Great working with Corey and the team. They also stand behind the work. When the landscapers cut one of the lines, the Signature team was out pronto to get it fixed (not sure if they billed the landscaper but they did not bill me 😀

Worked with them on a few amazing outdoor spaces we created. The lighting installed by them was a great addition to the project! I would highly recommend them.

There is one main reason to engage Signature Illumination Designs for your outdoor lighting. They are simply the best in their field. Their designs are beautiful works of art, seamlessly and unobtrusively weaving safety and utility into a sublime outdoor setting. Moreover, their team is professional in all aspects of the project.
They have designed lighting for our garden twice. In 2012 we had wonderful old tall trees and lovely new hardscape. Scott’s lighting design was perfect. On warm evenings people were drawn to the outdoors and did not want to leave our garden. In 2019 we lost all those wonderful old trees in the Dallas tornado. We could not imagine ever again having the magic of that night garden.
In 2025 Scott returned to design the lighting for our now garden. On the night when the lights first came on, we could not believe our eyes. Again, a perfect design. Subtle shadows contrast with highlights playing up textures and interest. Nothing extraneous, nothing missing. Our first guests in the newly lit night garden did not want to leave!
The say that light is magic. Scott and his team are masters of light!

As an interior designer and general contractor duo, we care deeply about how things look—and SIGNATURE ILLUMINATION DESIGNS nailed it. Their recent update to our home’s exterior lighting is nothing short of stunning. Scott, the owner was responsive, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and truly a pleasure to work with. Juan and the crew were respectful, hardworking, and incredibly mindful of our landscaping, leaving everything pristine despite mud and debris. Their communication, professionalism, and positive energy made the entire process seamless. We’re beyond impressed and grateful. Light up YOUR property with the help of SIGNATURE ILLUMINATION DESIGNS.

The accent lighting is the finishing touch to our new back porch, deck and fire pit area. We could not be more pleased by the attention to detail and care taken with the landscape in installation of string and moon light fixtures. Thanks for making the area safe and beautiful!

Scott and his team did a top notch job with our front yard landscape lighting. They did a custom all-Phillips Hue installation, and it turned out better than we had imagined. Highly recommend for landscape lighting jobs.

A difficult project which included a complete grade change and drainage system. They also added five trees and Zoysia sod. Excellent job!!!

I first dealt with PLM back in 2013. They were very professional and did an amazing job. I have another project in mind and they were the first business I thought of.
I would absolutely recommend them for any landscaping project you may have. -
Initially my interaction was good then soon after the I experienced the same situation as the other complaints below. Lack of communication, follow-thru and service. Blake said he would reach out on a specific day, he never did then said 'for sure' I would be installed by last Friday and they never showed. When I strongly challenged him he had a litany of excuses. Their business is really good and clearly they don't need mine, or yours. There a lot of providers in this space.. I suggest you keep looking.

Disappointed. I had an appointment 2 weeks ago to have someone come out and see if they can help our yard with their work. Someone in our neighborhood referred them. I was told i'd get a quote either in 2 days or by the end of the week. Fast forward 2 + weeks later, i've called twice, the lady who answers says she has no notes about having a quote for me, said she left a message for the person who came out to see me and doing on day 3 still no call back. I thought companies wanted to make money :( Sorry i will advise many people in our neighborhood not to move forward and word of mouth is very strong for business.

Blake came out to look at our house and give us a quote. Very knowledgeable guy and was very thorough in what he suggested we do. What a waste of time though. There was no follow-up with us and after 1.5 weeks I called and the receptionist said she'd call me back same business day. Never called. I called again the next week and she said she'll have someone call me back. Again, never called. I emailed Blake directly and he said he was out of town but will call me the following day to discuss. Nothing. What an utter waste of time. Not going to chase someone down to take my money for lawn services!

they had a vision of what our front and back should look like, we had others out but there was no vision just took our ideas. The crew were hard workers; the brothers were responsive to our questions and made sure things were done right. They were not the cheapest, but the work was first class! I have recommended them to 5 other homeowners.

PLM and Blake did an amazing job on completely reimagining our front and backyard. We had just completely remodeled our home and wanted the landscaping to match the more modern look of the house. The extensive work included virtually everything you could do in a yard including, re-doing the irrigation to match the new layout of the yard, installing artistic steel planters, new modern concrete pad walkways, Travertine tile patio, a new drainage system, new plantings in the beds and new grass. Their work was incredible! Working from home I was able to watch much of the work being done and was really impressed with the attention to details. We have received many compliments and we often see cars slow down as they pass the house to admire their work. They are very busy but it was well worth the wait if you want a high quality job!

In summary, I could not recommend Blake or his company PLM. We paid for an initial design with another full-service landscaper which cost $375 to complete with an estimate of $21,830 to install. We felt it was somewhat high and some of the content could be more to our liking. We found PLM in the Plano Best Companies publication and sent them our original design. Blake came out and quite frankly said he would cost more. We discussed whether it would even be worth going forward then. In the end he said he was raising his design fee, but he would do ours at the old rate of $300. Two weeks later he delivered an overpriced and over designed landscape proposal with an estimate of $39,856 to install.
We then took both designs and created an edited one taking scope out to somehow get an estimate that was closer to value for money and in line with our Shoal Creek neighborhood. In the end, we concluded PLM is just over-priced for their services and it would be more effective to work with the original landscaper with our new revised design. I communicated that to Blake, he wished us well and sent me a bill for another $300. We disagree on whether he mentioned his design fee was $300 or $600, but in the end, I get an unusable/unedited design for $600. Point one, get it in writing with him especially if you don't go with his company.
Really…$600 for a design. You are better off working with an independent designer to get to your answer. It will cost you $250-$375 to complete with no miscommunications. Then have 2-3 landscapers bid it and include PLM if you wish. My advice…. waste of time as they’ll be the highest of your bidders.
On the positive side, Blake knows his stuff. To be clear though he will deliver a design that he wants to install not necessarily the one that you want or willing to pay for. -
We hired PLM for work to be done on our front yard. It took a month to get someone to come out and see us, which we were fine with. Our thought was - If they are good, they will be in demand. Blake Melby came out to our place and spent half an hour talking with us on what we were looking for. He seemed quite knowledgeable and confident in his company’s abilities – he gave us a ball park estimate of $7,000 to $10,000 for our job. When we set up our appointment initially, we were told that our type of job wouldn’t require a design as it was relatively small, however, Blake suggested that we do the design (and that it would cost us $300 to begin and $300 once they delivered the design, with any number of iterations to make us satisfied). This amount would then be put toward our installation if we decide to move forward.
We requested 3 quotes based on budget – cheap, mid-range and splurge. Within two weeks we received only one design which was way overpriced ($20,000) and was asked to pay the remaining $300. The design that was provided was definitely not worth $600 to me as a paying customer as it did little to modify the footprint that was on our yard and even lacked measurements that may have provided some value. When we asked for actual measurements for each section (in an effort to reduce cost), we were asked to use the scale on the design! Post payment of our $600 it has been a nightmare to get responses for any changes/information we are requesting to the design in an effort to get costs down to something manageable. It honestly seems like the business model for PLM is the $600 design fee and they have no interest in actually helping customers fix their yards. Based on my experience thus far, I’m really not inclined to give any further business to PLM Landscaping. -
I am super pleased with PLM, they replaced some grass, redid a portion of my front landscape and put down granite rock on the side of my house where grass wasn’t able to grow. I worked with Blake who was courteous, smart, made wise recommendations and instructed the crew well. I have more projects and will call Blake and PLM again next year (spring 2024).

Jon Melby came to my home and gave me an exorbitant quote about two tree removals and 100 sq yards sod installing in my front yard. Two weeks later he did not deliver the contract,. When the contract finally comes is missing one tree and includes a regrading I did not ask for and never discussed about, but it was on my next door neighbor's contract since they had a drainage problem. When I asked to remove the regrading Ann called me and canceled my contract. Move on to better contractors.
