Outstanding selection of Japanese maples, shantung maples and done ginkgos for good measure. Best in the metropolex. I've been a customer for many years.

My second time driving from Austin to pick up some trees. Steve is a super nice guy and graciously answered my 10,000 questions. Ari (I assume) was also very kind and welcoming. I just wish they were in Austin!

Exceptional staff. They offer sooo many varieties of Japanese maples and some gingkos with thousands onsite.
*Side Note: i realized right after we had left that i didn't have my phone. I'd dropped it in the middle of their gravel drive! Despite having just closed for the weekend, someone answered our frantic call and met us at the gate to return it. Thank you, metro maples!

Based on the book Easy Gardens for North Central Texas, we obtained three Fire Dragon Maples from Metro Maples. Two are now 2 1/2 years old (from planting), and one is 1 1/2 years old. they were quite expensive for their small size (1" to 1 1/4" trunk size), and no bigger trees were available at the time. Only one of these trees comes even close to the vaunted "fire dragon" red color in the fall--it is orange, and not particularly brilliant. The other two trees appear to be ordinary Shantung Maples with yellow fall color. Either that, or Fire Dragon does not consistently produce the color it is known for.
I would say these are not worth the money unless you buy them in the fall to make sure they are actually Fire Dragon Maples. I now wish I had purchased Bradford Pears--could have had bigger trees for the same money or less, and guaranteed brilliant fall color.
Nice enough people to deal with, and a lovely environment under the big old maples.

If you want to just be left alone and walk around, this is the place.
    If you
    DON’T want a friendly greeting
DON’T want to be listened to
    DON’T want an explanation
DON’T want a feeling of awe as you watch them load with discussion and care, securing your tress, shrubs, whatever. Explaining to you in as much detail as you wish to hear the best of the best.
My dog and I took a walk in their patch and I turned to my dog and said oh my gosh, this feels like a hobbit elven forest...Best I got was a wag of the tail.
If you do want an experience on choosing your dream then just go. L

Incredible selection, incredible customer service. Everyone there is super helpful and friendly, I highly recommend going. They have by far the best selection of Japanese maples anywhere in the metroplex. Can't wait to go back!

I have purchased a Shantung Fire Dragon and a Baby Dragon here. I like visiting here and just walking around. It's a marvel at the variety and quality of trees that are available. You will feel like you are walking through a Japanese movie set it is so nice.

A gem of a nursery. Large selection of beautiful maples. Knowledgable, friendly and attentive team. Owner Scott took the time to discuss my particular setting, look at a range of alternative trees, and walk me through healthy planting and maintenance. Currently practicing proper COVID protocols providing peace of mind. I wish I had more trees to plant - would love to go back often!

I have purchased over 40 "Dragon" maples and Japanese maples and 1 Gingko here as we have places on our land to plant them. All of them, very large to very small, have been exceptional trees. Some of these maples, Fire Dragon, Baby Dragon, and Super Dragon began here, patented by Keith Johannson, now retired. Beautiful, truly awesome trees. Most of these you can't get anywhere else. Nowadays, I get Scott Hubble, the current owner, to pick out my trees for me. He has the eye for it!

Just purchased three Shantungs here and I have to say that this place it great. Good prices, especially for a nursery, and all was loaded skillfully and safely into my truck.

Originally purchased in September, all three trees turned the colors advertised in November.

What a wonderful experience Scott provided for my family. We had a mix up at first, however Scott not only help resolve a simple mix up he went above and beyond to fix it. If you need a tree this is the place to go. Thank you to Metro Maples you have made a customer for life. I have already recommended you to people.

Love this place! The pond area has changed a bit from 8-10 yrs ago, when I went there the first time... But they have so many selections of JM trees. I like the fact they have various sizes for almost all varieties. And the staffs are very knowledgeable and super friendly.

My husband and I were so happy to find Metro Maples. We lost a 20 year old Chinese pistachio in a recent wind storm. I wanted to replace it with something that had comparable fall color and my husband has been wanting a Maple. Google brought us to Metro Maples and we are so pleased. All of the staff was so kind and knowledgeable. Instead of the one tree we came for we bought two. I am so excited to watch our Fire Dragon Shantung grow and can’t wait to see his colors this Fall. Our Japanese will make its home on our porch until we have enough shade to plant it in the yard.

Scott and Metro Maples continue to be incredible. Worth any drive you happen to need. They have an enormous selection of traditional Japanese maples but also a good selection of maples that can take full Texas heat and sun. Don't get a boring tree, stop by and bring a trailer.

Very unprofessional sales who told us wrong instruction and information about the Tamukeyama Maple tree we bought in April 2022. We were told this tree need to be under the shade and that's why we put it under the patio in a pot. Later found out actually it required 6-8 hours of direct sun. When we changed the location of the tree, it was too late. We emailed metro maple and the guy who answered email asked us water it every 5 days even I told him it's obviously too dry if wait to water every 5 days. The tree never turn around and when I googled online, it says need 5-7 galloon of water every week and suggest to water every 2 days in first year. Well, long story short, metro maple refused to refund a $450 tree died in several months. They said they are not responsible for the wrong sales info and email instructions. Do NOT buy from them as they are NOT professional and irresponsible about their product and has no sense of customer service. We should have bought the same tree from Calloway for less than $300 and can return if there is any problem. We even drove an hour to buy the tree. Would NOT recommend this company!!!
