Louis showed up on time to our consultation. Told me what was wrong with out live oaks (aside from being over grown) and his recommendation to help fix them and our sick magnolia. We made the plan for trimming all three oaks (one isn't a live oak). On the day of the tree spraying and root deep fertilizing the 2 man crew was on time, efficient and professional. The day of the tree trimming the much larger crew was early (about an hour) extremely efficient, quiet (considering they were cutting tree limbs), courteous and professional. They did a great job of trimming the trees without over trimming or giving what I've been calling all the tree trimming around us "a high and tight". They are just thinned out as they should be. They even cut back a couple of dead bushes that where in their way and cleaned everything up as if they had never been here. Fantastic crew. The foreman even insisted I do an inspection with him before they left. Especially since they left a limb that was initially supposed to be cut but actually looked better for balance of the tree left in place. Very happy.

I've never met such a jerk of a business owner as this guy. We were clearly wasting his time by asking basic pruning and shaping questions. He implied that my wife and I should get on the same page about what we want done, then he would quote the job. When we looked for further explanation about "topping" the tree, he said he had a laser pointer that he could use to show us where they would cut. But, it wasn't worth his time to walk to his truck to get it if we weren't serious about doing it.

Narcissist, arrogant, rude. Not to mention 4x the cost of our last arborist who quoted the same job. No wonder he charges $65 just to talk to you. Nobody will hire him once they meet him....

I wish 0 stars was an option. Louis was referred to me my my neighbor who’s trees are diseases so I wanted to have my own checked. I should have googled BEFORE calling. He was so rude and consenting. I had to ask him 3 times for the name of the fungal infection we were treating before he would tell me and then demand $65 after 5 minutes tops. I paid only to end the interaction but was so mad that I called and demanded my money back. I will give credit to Donna who was so polite and canceled my payment. After reading comments from my fellow reviewers I’m glad that it wasn’t just me.

Beware of the surprise $65 charge!!!
I called Ability Tree Experts because they are heavily marketed and praised on 740AM the Michael Berry show and the morning show with Jimmy Barrett.
I should have looked up some google reviews before I called like others have posted here previously. When I booked my appointment, I was not informed of the service/trip charge and would never expect a business charging you just for them to come out and give you a quote for tree trimmings. This is a shame that this business is using the shady business practices like this. If you are going to charge to come out to provide a quote, at least make sure that your potential customer is aware of the charge. I told Louis that I was not informed of the $65 fee and he stated that his office staff book many appointments and have standard questions and stated that "he doesn't do this for free". He had no concern except getting his $65 fee after I let him know that his quote was way out of my budget. I hope they improve their business practices soon.

I asked for a quote and ended up with the middle section of my tree cut out - without my consent - when I wanted the opposite. No quote sent ahead of the fact, no chance to say no. And no signs of regrets by the bare texts asking for the payment.

Jonathan is awesome to communicate with and kept me in the loop with all steps of the work involved including different options for what to do with the tree, including stone grinding the stump. while they were out there, I also had them help axe down some growths around the yard and also clean up my front trees. they did an amazing job and was very respectful of the property as well.
