We spend a lot of time developing design ideas, hand sketching through complex digital models, things a lot of folks may not realize goes into the development of a client's project. We had an incredible experience working with Monica and Jeff from Exterior Worlds. When we started our project with them, they listen to our ideas and thoughts. They incorporated those into a wonderful design and have made it a landscaping reality. They are experienced, professional, knowledgeable, timely in delivering the design and executing the project. Every time we are outside, we receive a compliment about our yard and landscaping. It often ends with an inquiry about who is our Landscaper. They educated us on the importance of quality irrigation, drainage, and lighting. They are acutely aware of which plants will do well in which location of a yard due to sun, rain and shade. They based their selections and recommendations on which grass, plants and trees would do well in Houston despite hard freezes and summer hurricanes. Our home architect was also very complementary of their work. Since completion of their job, their maintenance crew has also done an outstanding job. Any questions or concerns are answered and addressed immediately or within 24 hours. It has been a pleasure working with them, and having them continue to maintain and upkeep our yard

The name says it all! Five stars! Scott and his team were truly wonderful to work with. I could tell working with Scott would be different from our first meeting when he spent an hour walking our yard, listening to our needs and desires for how we would like it to function, and just sharing our dream and vision. Other companies I interviewed rushed through that first meeting, gave us a fee, and tried to hand us off their designers without any further conversation about the big picture or process. Harry, the landscape architect, designed a beautiful plan for us and Scott helped us refine it so it fit in our budget. What was an overwhelming and overgrown yard/garden turned into a low-maintenance, functional, and kid-friendly yard just perfect for our family. We had an incredible experience working with Scott Chester and his FiveSTAR Landscape team to completely transform our backyard into a space that we spend mornings and evenings enjoying. Using the design from Landscape Architect Harry Dill, Scott’s team regraded our backyard and installed drains to eliminate our drainage issue. Hardscaping, landscaping and lighting were installed to tie the backyard to our existing and newly renovated outdoor pavilion. Scott also completed some minor landscaping to the front of our house as well as coordinating a new driveway and curbing. We were provided timely updates and communication about any issues as well as possible solutions. Scott was meticulous and thorough in solving our drainage issue as well as implementing a beautiful design. We highly recommend FiveSTAR!

Five Star’s crew did a beautiful job of restoring the appeal of my beds and lawn, which had taken a horrible beating after the heat, drought and freeze that we’ve endured the past few years in Houston. I highly recommend these folks.

So I wanted a bocce ball court – spoke to several firms in the Houston area and I had to enlighten several on what a bocce ball court was. While returning home one day I saw a neighbor having a beautiful fountain installed and pulled over and asked the gentleman working hard on it “hey can you make a bocce ball court?” His immediate response was “are you thinking oyster shell base?” Touchdown – this guy knows what he’s doing. Turns out it was Scott Chester who over the course of the next several weeks worked with my wife and I along with landscape architect Harry Dill to come up with a magnificent redesign of our entire front entrance and surrounding landscape. Our house with its renewed curb appeal will continue to improve as the stunning plants, shrubs, flowers, and herbs mature and bring years of beauty – and even more special – low maintenance! We added sprinklers to keep the garden growing and state of the art LED lighting to enhance the visual during the evening hours. We have a fantastic brick paver entrance up to new stairs and custom made iron hand railings as build by David Lindsey and his son under Scott’s direction. Scott is a tremendous talent and he cares. I mean he cares big time – he stayed late into the evenings, used his skills in making sure the drawings were exactly duplicated in the actual landscaping and checked it not once but twice and three times. He is a perfectionist and yet still a joy to work with! What I liked about Scott was he was direct “ we are not the cheapest nor are we the most expensive” and he even gave us a line item detail of what his plan was and even suggested that we “take my quote and go get comparison quotes.” Are you serious? Who does this anymore? Just somebody who knows what they are doing and stands by the quality of his workmanship and confident in his capabilities. After about two months since install was complete sadly we had a few plants that did not make it. Scott replaced them without even a question. That’s who I want to work with. Oh, and I did get my custom made bocce ball court………and it is beyond what I expected – a work of art for sure. Ultimately the garden is for my wife and I to enjoy – but it is nice to hear “house looks beautiful” as the neighbors walk by. I highly recommend the crew at Five Star Landscaping of Houston with Scott Chester at the helm. Work together and you will not be disappointed.

Scott Chester and his crew with FiveStar Landscape are amazing! You can tell that Scott is very passionate about his work and he truly wants the homeowner to be happy with the finished product. His crew seemed to share the same work ethic as they took extra time with details to make sure things were done properly. They were also incredibly friendly to my husband and me, but also to our young son which meant a lot.

The landscape architect on our job was a creative genius. It was really fun to discuss plan options with him.

I wholeheartedly recommend Scott and his team at FiveSTAR Landscape! We wanted a company that could not only help us develop a cohesive design that included all our specific needs; but could then also install the job and bring our vision to fruition. 2 Stars - Beautiful Design, Disrespectful Execution

They created a beautiful initial design, which gave us high hopes. Unfortunately, that's where the professionalism ended.

At first Scott was friendly and seemed to care about offering a "Five Star" experience. He came out to our house and walked the perimeter, took our budget, and then kicked off the design process. After the design; however, it was clear that their internal communication was lacking. When it came time to quote, the landscaper hadn't even spoken with the designer. The quote came in well over our agreed-upon budget. They said they would work to revise it, but that process dragged on for weeks. Getting a revised design and updated quote was painfully slow. So slow, in fact, that while we waited, they closed four other jobs and pushed our start date out by months.

By the time they got back to us, it was no longer feasible to move forward due to our travel plans and the extreme summer heat. We felt strung along--like a backup option they never intended to prioritize. Once bigger jobs came in, we were treated as disposable.

If you're a high-budget client, maybe you'll get the attention. But if you expect communication, respect, and follow-through regardless of your budget--look elsewhere.

Scott Chester and his team at FiveSTAR Landscape were incredible to work with. We found Scott four years after a disastrous experience with a different local landscaping company. Scott earned our trust early in the process given his patience, knowledge and candidness around the project. We worked with FiveSTAR’s landscape architect early in the process who was very good and helped take our ideas and turn it into a design that fit with our house and yard size. Scott then worked with us on compiling a budget that was transparent and provided us with various design alternatives to keep the costs in check.

The best part of the process though was the execution phase, which consisted of the same crew every time who were clean, hard-working and respectful of our home and property as well as Scott who would come to our house daily to monitor the project execution and consult with us on various installation items.

Scott is an extremely detail oriented person who takes a lot of pride in his work. His expertise goes beyond landscaping and helped us construct a grill and patio area that fit seamlessly into our existing house as if it was always there.

I would highly recommend the entire team at FiveSTAR.

We had a great experience with FiveStar Landscaping. Scott was the Project Manager who helped to quote the job, offer suggestions for the project and ultimately managed the project as it was executed. Communication was excellent and Scott offered many creative solutions when we were unsure of what we wanted. Our project was relatively small, but I am confident that FiveStar would do an excellent job on a larger project. For our house, in our small side yard, FiveStar installed a gravel driveway and a planter bed area, as shown in the pictures. Work was quality and thorough. I highly recommend FiveStar for your next landscaping project.
