Appliance Repair reviews in Pflugerville, Texas
-
I had my dishwasher serviced as part of my lowes warranty. Service was excellent and the response time was one day to the next. The tech was really friendly and explained everything. He ordered the part and came back 2 days later and installed it. I am very satisfied. I think these low reviews are due to having Home shield warranties on very old and obsolete appliances. You cannot blame repair techs for todays short life products.

Got assigned company through American home shield, the didn’t put all info in report so my claim got denied, I called AHS and they sent report back for this company to modify and they kept talking in circles and was a huge language barrier, worst experience I’ve ever had with a vendor for home warranty company where the person on phone can’t understand me or effectively communicate and then tells me there’s no one else I can talk to, wasted a lot of time and money

Like a lot of others they were assigned by my home warranty co (AHS). Great experience! The tech arrived on time, quickly figured out the problem with my oven and advised he needed to order the parts. Second visit he again showed up on time with the correct parts and got my oven working like new!!

I can’t tell you how bad this service was. It was almost identical to those reviews before me. AHS service call for our Whirlpool washer. ACT arrives, isn’t in our home for more than 3 minutes. Tech tells us the spyder is broken and he’ll put in a request to AHS. He states to continue to use the washer if we can because it’s in bad shape. AHS calls to tell us that nothing is coverage because the tech reported that we abused our machine. The machine is literally 20 years old in May. Washers and dryers don’t last 20 years if they are being abused. Just say it’s going to cost too much or too old to fix and bam, it would have been done. We paid this company their $100 for less than 3 minutes and they will never be allowed back into our home. Afterward, I read the reviews and just got even more angry. This poor business practice is apparently a habitual one. I would recommend asking for a different service company if you get saddled with ACT on a repair. They do not care anything about you or your circumstances only that they receive their payment and will use un-truths to get out of doing the service work. It’s in all in the reviews.

ACT Appliance has been incredibly difficult to work with.
We were assigned to ACT Appliance through our home warranty company, American Home Shield, when we reported that our refrigerator was not cooling and the freezer was not freezing.
A technician from ACT Appliance has come to my home 5 different times over the course of 45 days. I have reported that the refrigerator/freezer still is not working after the 5th visit and, after 2 days of my persistent following up, ACT Appliance has offered a SIXTH appointment.
The problem is that ACT Appliance continues to report back to my warranty company that the unit is still repairable, even though they seem to be incapable of repairing it. And because ACT Appliance is saying it is repairable, the warranty company is not giving me any options - they trust the information provided by their vendors. Unfortunately, I would not call ACT Appliance a trustworthy business.
I hope that ACT Appliance tries to make this right by reporting an accurate status to AHS, but I have very little faith based on my experience with them over the past month and a half.
If you can avoid working with ACT Appliance, that would be my recommendation.
If ACT Appliance reads this review, please call me back. I have reached out by phone, email, and text consistently this week. -
ACT came out to fix my dishwasher last week, said they needed a part. The part came in and we didn’t receive a call, instead we had to call them to chase down a time. They came out today and needed to replace the control panel. The repair technician came out took some stuff apart. Ended up causing a water leak. He ended up leaving saying “you need a plumber I cannot fix your dishwasher today.” Needless to say ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE THEM! Horrible experience!

If I could give negative stars I would. I payed for a warranty from Lowes (also sad customer service) which is serviced by ACT but it's been a month since my washer has been out of service. A tech has been out 3 times with a fourth visit scheduled. The running joke now is when they leave it tell them see you 7 days. It'll be a month and 4 days till I get an answer if they can fix it or not. I'm giving them permission to change their mailing address here.

When our fridge died, our home warranty company (AHS) assigned Act Appliance to handle the repairs. I was worried looking at the review scores for the company, but both the tech and Anna who schedules the appointments were both great!
We got a next day appointment. The tech found out what was wrong, and the parts came in 3 days later. When he came back for the repairs, he had to take the freezer apart to reach the dead motor, but he had it all back together and working again in under and hour.
Overall, he was professional, courteous, and did a great job. I also appreciate that they sent us texts before the tech arrived each time. I'd hire them again and recommend them based on my experience. -
Would give zero stars if I could. Not prompt, don't communicate arrival time (just a very broad window with no heads up when in that window they are coming). Only person we could get ahold of to try to discuss our repair job is at a call center in another country. Seriously god awful, will never work with them again.

Total scam. We needed a gas disconnection for floor work and explained this clearly beforehand. The tech showed up, said it’s not in their scope, and left in 5 minutes—yet we were charged $100. No call back, no accountability. Canceled our insurance and will never use ACT Appliances again. If I could, I would give them zero star.

0 star - BEWARE OF THEIR SCAM
Used them through American Home Shield to repair my fridge.
They will claim that you need various new parts and bill the warranty. They will "fix" your appliance by replacing parts that aren't broken with old busted parts they've collected from scamming customers. When your appliance doesn't work, they will state that you need some random piece but they must order it and that it will take 7 days. A week and half later, the tech will show up and while pretending to resolve your issue, he mysteriously will discover something he didn't notice previous and that he cannot repair it. All while, they have billed the warranty for brand new parts and you're left without a fixed appliance. The scam is now complete...
They are not listed on TDLR so you cannot find their contractor license number nor is it listed on their website or work order. I do not believe this is a legit business. But this really isn't a shocker when you think about it. If a repair tech comes to your home in a small Toyota Corolla, not a work van or truck which you would expect to see given their business, that is not branded with the employers logo/information and contractors #, that should be a good sign you're about to be scammed.
While I am upset, that I've been without a fridge for 2 weeks, I am more annoyed that AHS continues to subcontract these hacks. I cannot imagine how much they've scammed warranty companies and customers privately. All I've paid is the $100 deductible and as far I am concerned, it's AHS issue to recoup their money. But they also should not be sending untrustworthy business with poor reputations into their customers homes. In the end, they are buying me a new fridge.
Do not allow these people into your home. They are absolutely scammers. However, if you do, be sure to ask them to show you the old and new parts INCLUDING the box before they proceed to touch any appliance. Also inspect it very carefully and check dates. Watch them like HAWKS!
You've been warned. -
My whirlpool washer went out. I purchased a Lowe’s extended warranty, and this was the only company available to service my washer.. The gentleman did not speak English very well told me two things were broken and left, but I could still use the washer. Wrong! I could not use the washer. The parts came in in two days yet they couldn’t assign someone to come Out till a week later, the same gentleman came, put both parts on and said he was done. His work was guaranteed for a month and the parts were still under warranty. He did not run the machine to see if it would even run do a cycle nothing. I loaded the machine with a few clothes, not even 10 minutes into the cycle. The same issue came up. I immediately called ACT appliances. They told me they were trying to get a hold of the repair man that he would not be coming back over here, he did the service I called back the next day. They told me I needed to call Lowe’s and request a service. I called Lowe’s. I had to file a claim, but they told me there was nothing they could do because the service was not complete. I called back. They told me he had not finished the paperwork yet. I called on Veterans Day for a follow up. The receptionist told me oh the paperwork was filed and already submitted to Lowe’s on that Friday. I mentioned that she was the one who told me he had not filed the paperwork and she said that was a mistake. I tried to contact Lowe’s again. I had to file another claim. I got a letter two days later from Lowe’s stating that ACT appliance completed my service. How are you supposed to complain to the warranty company? If they do not give you a number to complain on I will never use a ACT appliance again! I filed to have another service repair and another service company popped up. I chose them oh my God night and day with this company. I explained what was replaced. Nothing that he replaced was the issue I was told with the issue was I was shown what the issue was Parts are being ordered now I’m waiting on Lowe’s to accept the service.NEVER USE ACT APPLIANCE!!!’

DO NOT use this company under any circumstance. Terrible customer service. Low quality work. Only offer 5 hour windows for appointments so you dont know when they are showing up.

Do not use this company and if your warranty company assigns them to you BEG them for a different pro. I almost feel like one star is too generous for this company. My warranty company assignment them to me and I have them to my company over 15 times over the past 5+ months and sent over 3 technicians
They were assigned to fix my dryer and at first is seems liked they were helping. It was taking over 3 hours for me to dry my clothes and the first three times, they tried to replace items to fix it. After the first 2 months it was appeared to me that the problem wasn’t getting better and my dryer needed to be replaced.
Instead of the company requesting my warranty company replace the appliance, they tried to claim that it was due to my dryer vents needing to be cleaned. When I asked the tech how he came to that conclusion, he showed me a video of him using a piece of paper to test the airflow of the vents, but he never tuned the dryer on to see if the air was coming out the dryer. When I asked if he checked the vents outside, he said no. To me, how can you claim there’s a block when you don’t even check the airflow outside.
I had my vents cleaned and even have a video to show there was not a blockage and I was still experiencing issues with my dryer. They continued to gaslight me for another 3 months. I asked to speak to their manager for those 3 months to discuss the issues I’d been having with their technicians and she avoided my calls until i refused to get off the phone until she came to the phone.
She said she would follow up and call me back with an update. I called everyday for the next four days where her office said she was OOO (not really buying that after 5 months). She finally responded to me via email after repeated communications attempts via phone, email, text, and through my warranty company and claimed she couldn’t speak to me on the phone and refused to call me back or address my concerns.
After REPEATED attempts to express my concerns to my warranty company, they finally sent another company to my home for a 2nd opinion who immediately clocked that my appliance needed to be replaced. I’m not sure what’s going on with this company, but their customer service is terrible and they wasted my time for 6 months.
DO NOT USE! -
Got stuck with Act Appliance after filing a claim with my home warranty company, First American. On the service request I specifically stated the make and model of the range hood that is having issues. The technician arrived and stated he does not diagnose or work on range hoods. Very frustrating as I did my due diligence to look up the make and model for a hopefully seamless repair. I waited 2 weeks for this appointment and the technician was at my home for 10 minutes and left without diagnosing anything. Now we wait for another appointment with hopefully someone else, or another company.

I would give this company 0 stars if that was an option. They were assigned to us through our American Home Shield (our home warrantee company) to fix our dishwasher. It took them several days to dispatch a technician and two weeks to get the parts. When they finally came in to “fix” it, after the first wash, the machine broke again and now with a water leak that wasn’t there before. They take zero accountability and don’t care about providing good customer service. Makes sense why only a Home Warrantee company would use them. If this is the company you are assigned for an appliance issue, don’t take it. Also, reconsider having a home warrantee. You end up paying more by having them do poor fixes than you would if you went directly with a reputable provider.

American home shield sent out ACT appliance repair for warranty work on my refrigerator. The water in the door stopped working and it wasn't getting as cool as it should have. ACT called me and set up an appointment right away, and the tech was scheduled for the next day. Elvin came out and was able to diagnose the problem within an hour. He was friendly and courteous. And punctual. I had to wait for a part to be ordered and come in, but that only took a couple days, and I had my next appointment already scheduled. He arrived the second time early in the time frame window and got the part installed right away. After reading previous reviews I was worried, but my experience was pleasant and very happy with the work and time frame of the job.

My dishwasher was overflowing with water, and the ACT Appliance tech (assigned by my home warranty provider) determined that a faulty valve caused the initial problem, but opening the dishwasher (which I did to trigger the auto-shutoff) resulted in water spilling onto circuitry within the dishwasher door, so my home warranty wouldn't cover that piece of the repair.
OK, I'm not sure how opening the door to a dishwasher would be considered an unexpected action -- yes, if I'd stood on the dishwasher door and broken it, I'd understand that's an act of negligence and improper use of the equipment, but if a valve breaks and fills the unit with water, there's a chance some other internal parts will get wet... That's all part of the initial failure.
Aside from that, I authorized through my home warranty ALL repairs (the covered and uncovered) to get my dishwasher fixed. I then received texts from ACT Appliance that my parts were ordered and then received a follow-up text that my repair would be carried out today between 8 and noon. So, I stayed home from work to await the repair. Then, at 10:30am I received a call from ACT Appliance that they'd only ordered the valve, and not the circuit board, so I'd need to authorize ~$300 and wait a few more days for shipping of the part before they could repair my unit. The customer service rep couldn't explain why/how they'd only ordered half of the needed parts or why they'd schedule a repair appt for today when they knew they were missing pieces.
Very frustrating process, and nobody involved seemed to understand how to work with home warranty providers, when they're literally the only option provided by my home warranty company. -
I’m writing to ask a manager to come out with the service repairman. ACT appliance has attempted to repair my GE Profile microwave 5 times in the last 10 months. This is the 6th attempt to repair it. Each time a repair was attempted it would eventually fail. Please come to my home with your repairman to see for yourself that this microwave cannot be repaired and sustain working. The last 2 attempts made the repair worker replace the same part in an attempt to fix it. If a supervisor comes you will see that it must be replaced because it is not repairable. The fact that you have had to attempt repairs so many times in 10 months & failing, is evidence enough to conclude that it needs to be replaced and is not repairable. I’m requesting a replacement be recommended to American Home Shield company.
They were paid from our Home repair Warranty, through American Home Shield, $125.00 each visit, $110. a month to AHS. We paid ACT over $500.00. (6 visit's)

The experience with ACT Appliance Technician was utterly deplorable, marked by poor quality service, gross incompetence, and outright dishonesty. The technician misidentified a gas line as a plumbing issue, forcing us to incur the unnecessary expense and hassle of calling a plumber to confirm there was no problem. This blatant error showcases their lack of basic expertise.
Worse, they falsely reported to American Home Shield (AHS) that they had completed work they never even started, which is not only unethical but also fraudulent. Their customer service is nonexistent—communication is restricted to a call center that only takes messages, leaving you unable to speak directly with anyone who can address concerns. This complete disregard for accountability and professionalism made this the worst experience with a company in recent memory. Avoid ACT Appliance Technician at all costs. -
The service provided by ACT Appliance was extremely disappointing and unprofessional from start to finish. Despite the urgency of the situation, they took far too long to respond and complete the necessary repairs, leaving us without a functional refrigerator for an unacceptable amount of time. Communication was poor throughout the process, with vague updates, no sense of urgency, and zero accountability. Even after multiple part replacements—including a new compressor and ice maker—the refrigerator continued to malfunction, and it became clear that the technician lacked the skill or attention to detail to properly diagnose and resolve the issue. The unit was left partially disassembled, and the loud noises and condensation that persisted afterward showed that the repair was not only ineffective but possibly made the situation worse. ACT Appliance’s handling of this job has caused unnecessary stress and hardship, and I would strongly advise against using them for any appliance service needs.
