1000% love this team. My backyard was a disaster and had been since I bought the house 2 years ago. I had seeded multiple times and because of the slope it always washed away. Sean came out and walked the yard with me asking what my final vision of the yard was and talked through multiple options for how to achieve it. I'm pretty handy and DIY but I knew I couldn't handle the leveling and building of a safe retaining wall. Sean listened to me and gave me all my options for plans and material and never tried to upset or dismiss my ideas, concerns or needs. The team was able to start a week and a half after my consult while I was out of town so I would miss the bulk of the loud construction. Generous was the foreman for the project and when I returned from my trip he walked me through each step they had completed and explained the engineering and functionality of the design. He was quick to help me with a small change I needed to make and even offered ideas for future options to incorporate what they did with my vision for including my side yard. Bryce was the supervisor who came out multiple times to check in with me and make sure everything was going to plan and inspect the work when it was done. Hands down I want Sean and Genaro as my team for all my future projects.

Chris and his team were great to work with from the initial consultation to completing our projects. We have had VHS come to our home twice in the last two years to totally transform our property.

The first project was to extend our patio with pavers, install artificial turf in the backyard including river rock and mulch, install lighting in the front yard, and plant 123 plants overall with drip irrigation. The second project was to replace our sprinkler system in the front yard and lay new sod that was more adaptable for all of the shade.

Chris, Byron, and Sean were very professional and knowledgeable in working with us. The crews they had on our projects were very respectful and conscientious too. People in our neighborhood have told us how wonderful our yard looks and have especially been impressed with our backyard. We couldn’t have chosen a better company to work with than VHS Outdoor Living.

After spending the last few years fully renovating the inside of our house we felt like this was the year to finally address the outside. And since our knowledge of landscaping felt limited, we knew we wanted to team up with a full soup to nuts company to help guide us through the process. Upon coming across VHS Landscaping’s website, I felt like I might have found the right team. Their site is rich in content and really does a fantastic job explaining their services and how the entire process would work. And their portfolio of work was impressive to say the least.

I was slightly apprehensive about paying the consultation fee that was required to receive an estimate, but all those worries were put aside when Chris and Sean met with us to discuss our potential project. Both of them listened carefully to our ideas and took their time to understand our style and needs. And honestly even if we decided not to go with them the knowledge I gained from our consultation was worth the price alone. After spending a little over an hour with them they stayed around to measure our property and told us we would receive our estimate in a week and exactly one week later I was happy to see the estimate arrived as promised.

The estimate was very detailed and broke down all the proposed work and not a single thing we discussed during our consultation was missing from the list. At this point I knew we found our team and decided that we wanted to utilize their design service to make sure we all had a clear picture of the final design. And I must say paying for their design service was some of the best money we ever spent. The entire process consisted of three in person meetings and took about a month until we received the final designs in hand. These plans included a scope of our full design, our hardscape design, our landscape design and a full plant list. Sean took his time to make sure everything on the design was to our satisfaction and was available for any questions or revisions before the project started.

Our full project included an entire front and backyard makeover along with help from their construction team to add new fencing, lattice / projector screens and a fully screened in patio. Jose was our project manager for the project, and he was great at communicating with us daily and kept us updated with any changes or news that needed to be relayed. Their team arrived on time every day and left the place cleaner than they found it. They were all respectful of our space and our property. Any issues that came up during the project were always met with at least three solutions. And they were always accepting of any changes or corrections that were brough to their attention. I cannot thank Jose and the team he oversaw enough for their professionalism and level of skills that they brought with them every singe day.

This project transformed our house in a way that I could never have imagined. We finally have the usable outdoor space that we always dreamed of but never felt like we could achieve on our own. It now feels like we have added on to the full usable square footage of our house and it brings a smile to my face every time I look outside and see my family enjoying the outdoors. Sean and Jose and the whole team were wonderful. From initial survey and design to finished project they sought to deliver what we envisioned and ensure a high quality end result. Our screened patio extension and associated irrigation and grading were top notch. Every “sub” worker they have secured (concrete, carpentry, roofing, gutters, irrigation, etc…) were the best in San Antonio. Responsible, friendly, courteous, along with high craftsmanship.

I’ve known Chris for years but had never hired his company. I was always taught to keep business and friendships separate… BOY am I glad I went against that rule (Sorry Dad)

From the very first meeting to the final walkthrough, we were absolutely blown away. VHS shows up on time, communicates clearly, listens to your goals, and follows through even after the project is complete. They don’t disappear after the final check, they actually come back for free well checks to make sure everything is healthy and thriving. That kind of character and consistency is rare.

After my mom passed away in 2021, and in honor of my wife’s grandmother, we wanted to transform our yard with drought-tolerant, hardy plants that would attract butterflies and bees. Both women loved gardening and pollinators, so this project meant a lot to our family. The problem was that we did not inherit their green thumbs, our lot is also extremely difficult with steep elevations, limestone shelves, and poor soil.

Chris and his team took our vision head-on. Their knowledge of materials, drainage, and Hill Country plants is unmatched. They designed a plan that worked with our land, our climate, and our lack of plant knowledge, and they kept us updated every step of the way. VHS didn’t just install landscaping, they brought our dream to life.

Today our yard is full of color, butterflies, and bees. It feels like a living tribute to the people we loved.

We've had a great experience with Chris and the entire VHS team. We had landscaping, carpentry, and irrigation system work done. The design process was very thorough, and Chris walked us through multiple options considering pros and cons of each. After finalizing the design, they were very detailed about the cost. I especially appreciated the communication from Chris that kept us updated on when the various phases of the project would start. Each crew VHS sent (landscaping crew, irrigation crew, carpenters) were on time, friendly and professional. Bryon did a great job overseeing the projects. VHS will do our new plantings in the spring, and I won't hesitate to use them for any future projects.

We had an excellent experience with VHS Landscaping. We initially started working with another landscaping company here in town, but after months of unresponsiveness, we knew we had to find someone else. VHS Landscaping didn’t let us down — they were prompt, professional, and incredibly responsive from day one. Chris and his team really listened to all of the inputs we had, and we appreciated that the design team helped us plan beautiful garden spaces in both our front and back yards. We were especially pleased that they helped us design a great space that would work in our smaller backyard. Communication was excellent throughout the project, and the quality of their work exceeded our expectations. Their crew showed up when they said they would, paid attention to every detail, and made sure everything was done right. And, when we had an unexpected issue with the rain cistern they installed, they came right back and ensured it was fixed and operational. We’re so glad we found VHS. Chris and his team have truly earned our trust and future business.

After several years of remodeling, our yard was a complete mess and the irrigation system was not usable. I met with various landscaping groups, none of whom seemed to be able to grasp what I wanted to complement our home. Chris took the time to LISTEN and to understand the style that we were seeking. He assured me that we could create a great look without it being a yard of just rocks. He understood that we also wanted low to no-maintenance and that we wanted some color. VHS was able to get everything accomplished within a two week period for us, including a total clearing of what little grass we had, re-grading, new irrigation system, new design, new sod, new beds, and also dressed up a wonderful side area that we see from our home interior. Our Project Manager, Byron, met with the fellow installing our gutters to work on the best install for our layout. I worked with Becca on the final plans and we did make a few swaps - it was just so easy and they gave me great advice on the best Texas colorful natives to use for each bed. Also: Chris is very organized and uses a software that is very precise on the pricing, so there are no surprises.

I did storm cleanup work for Armondo after Hurricane michael in Carrabell Florida. He wrote me a bad check. I was charged a fee at my bank. Good luck.
