I used Bay Area Design & Landscape to completely re-landscape my front and back yards. I was very apprehensive about what it would look like for the cost, but Mardel provided a fantastic design and the finished product was better than I could have expected. The installation crews were efficient, professional, and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day (we had a 5 day installation). Mardel truly has a GIFT for landscaping! If you are in the market for these types of services, you owe it to yourself to contact Bay Area Design & Landscaping!

I was referred to BAN by the previous homeowner for sprinkler maintenance. I called them, no one answered, and received an automated text response. After providing information via text, Brian was scheduled to come over 3/20.

Brian and I walked the job which specifically included removing Kap Its from multiple sprinklers, elevating them, and relocating 3 sprinklers in the backyard. He said it would cost $250-300 and asked if I wanted a written quote. I shrugged it off, as he seemed trustworthy, and said 'No worries!'

4/4 I reached out to BAN to see when they would be arriving as I had heard absolutely nothing from them for almost a week. They responded quickly saying Brian had an emergency and would have to reschedule. We rescheduled for 4/5.

4/3 I texted because there was again zero scheduling established. BAN confirmed Brian would be there "after lunch, around 230." Around 11:10am on 4/5, BAN informed me he was running behind and asked if he could come Saturday morning. I replied, "Yes, that's fine, hopefully he will bring breakfast as well."

    Spoiler alert: he didn't.

Brian and his crew of 2 showed up on time Saturday morning at 8am. We did not discuss the scope of work that morning because I felt we had a thorough conversation two weeks ago about what needed to be done.

An hour after they arrived, I went outside to check on the progress of the work. Brian was nowhere to be found so I spoke to one of the workers. One of them spoke very little English, the other gentleman did not speak any English, and my 3 years of Spanish from high school did not exactly make me a fluent Spanish speaker. He said they were ready to run the zones to see how they looked. I obliged and asked him where all the Kap Its were they had removed. He seemed confused. I showed him a spare Kap It I had the garage, it did not clear up his confusion.

I texted BAN and asked them if they could communicate to the workers. I went to look at the sprinklers we had discussed two weeks prior and found the Kap Its were still attached to the sprinkler heads and had not been removed. I informed BAN the work I had discussed with Brian was not being executed properly.
I spent the rest of the afternoon outside, actively managing the job with the two gentlemen onsite and getting quite wet in the process. They were very friendly, patient, and hard-working.

4/11 I receive an invoice from BAN for $354, well above the amount quoted. I text them requesting a phone call to discuss the difference, no one called. Around 4:30pm, I call and receive the same automated text response from my first call. 4/12 at 8am I get a text from BAN saying they will check on the discrepancy on the invoice. I replied how the first hour the workers were onsite they were not actively working on the job scope Brian and I had discussed and were merely making subtle adjustments to straighten the sprinklers.

4/19 I reach out via text to touch base, no reply. 5/3 BAN finally calls me. I spoke to the rep for about 5mins and described in detail about how Brian did not properly convey the scope of the job to the workers onsite and how I had to actively manage the job since Brian was nowhere to be found. In hindsight, his probably saved them a lot of money since I was working for free for a contractor whom I hired. After explaining the situation, the rep said, 'I'm still not sure what I can do, the amount of work done was more than what was initially thought," I replied the amount of work completed was exactly inline with the amount of work we had discussed two weeks prior and they needed to adjust the invoice per Brian’s verbal quote.

5/7 BAN texts me saying they are waiting on Brian to adjust the invoice. 5/13 I receive an invoice for $292. Fine, paid in full, never to be hired again.

Another fun fact: early in this journey with BAN, I referred them to one of my family members. He contacted them, scheduled a day to do the work, but no one ever showed up. Even when he texted them asking if they were even going to bother to show up that day, they simply ghosted him.

I have a very large oak tree that needed pruning. I also had several trees on my fence line hanging over from the neighbors that I typically trim to the property line. Bay Area did a great job pruning and cleaning up. I was surprised at the amount that they actually had to prune off. It looks great now. Prices can be beat, but this company follows safety protocols and are insured. I've had "cowboys" without tie offs trim my trees in the past, and I wonder if they are still alive. I've also had ridiculous quotes from "professional arborists" that are over selling the arborist title. Bay Area Tree Experts did a great job. I highly recommend them.

Top-notch tree service! I had 10 trees that needed to be removed, including several large pine trees that were very near my neighbor's fence line. Bay Area Tree Experts removed the trees, ground the stumps, and hauled off all the debris - with no problems! Very polite and professional... I'll definitely use them the next time I need tree help.

This is a follow up to my wife’s post. We were told when we met in April (when we were under contract for the house we were purchasing) that the designer would be working on the design and would have it done in a few weeks. That didn’t happen clearly. You don’t need to close on the house to get the design which is why we tried to do that early. Here we are 4 weeks later with no design (they haven’t even started) and nothing but excuses. Same thing that happened in 2022, except we liked the design and was on the schedule but September turned into October which turned into November then finally mid-December we told them to just forget it.
Won’t ever use these people again. Whether you “appreciate” the review or not doesn’t matter. I don’t appreciate you and your company wasting our time for the 2nd time. If you want to call me you certainly can I can absolutely tell you in person how much I don’t appreciate being treated this way.
    For everyone else:
I called Heaven on Earth and they came out within the hour (they were already handling another yard nearby) and are working the design for us now.

These guys are very helpful. They can design and landscape your yard, or help you do it yourself. They have the best price on mulch around and the ladies know all about their plants.

Third time using them. Reasonably priced, professional, courteous, and quick. No need to search for another company. They send a large crew making them very efficient. Did some extra work on a smaller tree for free. The tree stump grinding was done quickly and the yard looked better post cleanup than it did prior to the work.

We've used them a few times in year's past and David and his team have always done a good job - in fact we recommended them. In May I approved a job with the understanding it would be done 5-6 weeks later. I reached out seven and eight weeks after via email. No response. Call today and was told it would likely be two more weeks so I cancelled the order. Three months wasted.
Edit: Had them back out this year and they did an excellent job. Upgrading to 4 stars.

Today was my second time using these folks. Three hours after they arrived, a large water oak was down, loaded up and stump ground. The yard was cleaned up better than it looked when they arrived. Courteous workers. Professionals. Great team work. They are not the cheapest in town, but once again value for service rendered is excellent! Highly reccommend!

Great service, girl stood out in the cold waiting for us to load some rocks. Even offered to bring us a cart while we browsed. Excellent plants and beautiful pots at reasonable prices!

Iove this place! They have all the uniques that your garden addiction needs plus the standard favorites. I'm in love with the succulents!

Everyone should have a certified arborist evaluate, advise, and prune our trees each year. Last year I had David and his crew tend to my green ash trees and I had no damage from the derecho or Beryl. I had them prune those trees again this year and they took care of my aging crepe Myrtle’s as well. All for a very reasonable fee. I highly recommend this team to anyone with trees on your property. You’ll be glad you did!

Update 3-4-2026 David, Mike, Julie, and crew did an amazing job of pruning my ever growing suburban forest. They are professional, courteous, efficient, knowledgeable, and very reasonably priced for the quality of their service. You need not look for another arborist while Bay Area Tree Experts are available!

I can’t speak for their landscaping/tree work but I can tell you that I deal with road blockages like this ALL the time. The employees do NOT care if the roadway is blocked and will verbally tell you how they don’t care if you try and address the issue.

Wonderful selection of flowers! Friendly and helpful staff! I recently bought a car load of flowers to do a pet memorial for my pup ...that passed. Flowers are still going strong and are beautiful. Love this place.

Went searching for palm tree information and met Shannon who walked us through all the beautiful new palms, explaining each type and how tall and wide they get and whether or not they or drought or freeze resistant. Wonderful info and she is so pleasant and helpful!

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Sometimes they’re much higher than big box stores and at times they are muuuch cheaper. It pays to compare and pay attention. An example is these Star jasmine I picked up today. $28 each at Bay Area Design whereas they were $64 at local big box (Lowes). I find that more unique items are cheaper here and simple flowers/bushes are usually a bit cheaper at major retailers. I like shopping local and they do offer military discounts so I’ll keep going back. Not to mention they are just across the street from me.

Bay Area Tree Experts- phenomenal job and half the price we paid about 5 years ago. Much needed trim, and exactly what we needed.
Another update: I recently used their garden design services, and wow! Mardel has a phenomenal eye for true landscaping in our area. She heard my concerns, and designed a beautiful backyard, and front garden for our home. Now, I enjoy seeing our home from all sides! Pics from backyard soon after planting. Now, everything has about doubled in size! I will post front garden photos soon.
