I called them because I couldn't get hold of a business Across the street from them, and the young lady who answered the phone was kind enough to get them to call me back. When she answers the phone she was polite and friendly, and patiently listened to me. If they are as good at plumbing and heating, and listening to their own customers as they were with me, I'd recommend them to anyone.

At our annual service, the technician was confused because he was incorrectly reading one of our gauges. A part was left outside the broiler, near the system. After a quick phone call, Ken Barney returned my questions and verified that the system had been serviced correctly.

Thornton Plumbing installed an expensive and sophisticated boiler system. The work was performed very professionally with attention to detail. It was clear from the onset that they know their product and how to install in a manner mindful of space and matching to the infrastructure already installed in the home. When one looks for competent and capable work that will affect their home comfort for years, these are the people to call.

John serviced our house this evening. He was very professional, knowledgable, and friendly. He got the job done quickly and clearly explained the larger issues and how to avoid them in the future. It is obvious that John is very skilled and upholds a high standard of integrity; he provided us top quality service and also avoided unnecessary costs. For these reasons I highly recommend Thornton Plumbing & Heating. Thanks John!

Thornton Plumbing has worked with me several times and I have always been pleased. Fantastic service and high quality, friendly staff! I would highly recommend them especially for radiant floor heat. Nobody in the area is more knowledgeable and experienced in radiant heat!

Thornton acquired Tingey Heating and Plumbing less than a month after Tingey installed a brand new $9k furnace for our home. The furnace shuts itself down on the coldest nights of the year, an obvious major problem needing attention. Thornton stalled on fixing the furnace for the past two plus years. I've had to repeatedly call and request to have service calls to fix this, and yet after more than two years and only three service calls, they haven't fixed the problem. They seem to have stopped responding to us. I would discourage anyone from using Thornton for their residential HVAC based on their customer service.

A note to relay the excellent job Jordan Walker did repairing a leak on the water pipes in my condo. He also noticed an issue with my water heater and repaired a critical vent. This was an after-hours call, Jordan responded promptly, diagnosed the problem and was able to fix the leak quickly and expertly. His manner was friendly, skillful and informative. Thank you, Jordan, and thank you Thornton Plumbing and Heating.

Jordan Walker showed me how to maintain my sink and tub stoppers. Was super helpful to tell me things that I can do on my own. He also changed my water softener level. He changed the shower cartridge so that the shower wouldn’t just be hot. Last week he cleaned, drained and replaced heating elements in my rental unit hot water heater.
He’s super friendly, timely, and knowledge.

We've had Thornton Plumbing and Heating connect and disconnect our swamp cooler for a couple of years now & we're very happy with them. Their servicemen are always so personable and friendly, they've always been on time and they get the job done quickly. If we ever need other work done we'll be calling on them, for sure.

$150 for simply visiting my location to give me a quote for a water heater? Ridiculous! Money doesn't grow on trees. How exactly does this company plan to compete with some of the other companies that offer free estimates?

Thornton has done work for me many times, but this particular time I had Jordan Walker all day to do a long laundry list of repairs that I’m afraid I’d been saving up.

Jordan was very patient and thorough, taking the time to go through all of the problems to make sure he understood everything I wanted to be done. He gave me the options available and the reasons for each option, sometimes giving me an idea of what he thought might be the best choice, other times leaving it up to me to decide.

Everything task was done so efficiently, and I was so relieved with the things that had literally been bothering us for years.

One faucet that needed to be replaced was a real challenge due to a clearance issue with a sagging (very expensive!) medicine cabinet door above that needed repair. He and his assistant worked hard to repair it as best they could—such a surprise!—to alleviate the problem so that the faucet I chose would work there.

One difficulty was with a toilet complication—long story and has to do with our quirky house —but Jordan is rectifying it, no problem, as quickly as he can.

I couldn’t be more pleased with working with Jordan and highly recommend him!

We had a hot water tank problem two days before moving out of our sold home. Thornton Plumbing and Heating not only fixed the problem quickly but in the diagnosis stage, one of the owners Ken came by on a Saturday to ensure we were taken care of. What a great company and a quality team of individuals they have working for them. I would strongly recommend them for any plumbing or heating needs.

There was initially a little fumble in the communication that was smoothed over. He was able to figure out my issue within a few minutes, which was actually just a blown fuse. What he did was was called an "Extended Diagnosis" though. That's what showed up on my bill for $280! He also offered some other services to clean and service my HVAC unit which was in the thousands of dollars. I've used miscellaneous AC Repair companies over the years and these guys are, by far, the most expense. I can't believe I had to pay $280 for him to replace a fuse!

Had a good experience with them last year when they worked on my heating. Unfortunately it seems that they don't guarantee their work. My heater is having the same issue it did last year and when I called to get help I was told they aren't taking any new jobs even though I am a returning client. They also said if it worked last year it's not their problem. Which is disheartening as it was their work. I would have been happy to book further out and use a space heater. I won't be using them in the future if I can't count on them.

Thornton Plumbing helped me out once with a water heater and the second time replacing my thermostat. Both times I was equally impressed. AND, Both times they were honest and saved me money with something they could have easily charged a lot more more. They were consistently on time and very responsive with calls. They were professional, fast, clean, courteous, and did quality work. Thank You Thornton Plumbing!

Had them come fix our heating issue. The guy was here half a day (most of that time was him gone getting a part needed). He had someone else with him following him around and doing nothing. We got the bill for half a days work and a small part $1000!!!! We were blown away. We called to get clarification and no one returned our call. We tried back several times and no one got back to us. Finally after over a month this woman calls back and refuses to give us any info bc “we don’t let customers know our hourly rate for our techs or how much parts cost” Insanity. They can just charge you whatever they want and you have to deal bc you won’t get any detailed info. Also waiting over a month for a response is so unprofessional. We used them on a weekend emergency rate at another time and that bill was only $600. Anyway this place is so overly priced and unprofessional. We have a job we need to do soon and will not be asking them to come back ever. Look somewhere else for your heating needs unless you have gobs of money to waste.

I had Thornton inspect my radiant heat systems in the house and driveway. The bill? $780!!!
The system required no repairs or parts. They determined it was working fine. Then they billed me $780.
Their excuse was "costs have gone up."
I won't be using them again.

    UPDATE October 9, 2023
Just had the local Park City company do the annual inspect on both radiant heat systems. The bill? $220.
After complaining in 2022, Thornton lowered to $646. Still...over $400 difference!

I paid a lot of money for my heated floors 24 years ago. It was Thornton that did the work. My gas valve on my boiler was stuck in the off position. I called Thornton to come out and replace it. Made an appointment and took a vacation day to meet the repairman. Never called never showed up, I called they said they were busy and told me they would come first thing tomorrow. Took another day of vacation and they called and said they were busy again and would try in a few days. They owe me 16 hours vacation which would have paid for the repairs. I am calling someone else. Don’t waste your time.

After a little difficulty getting my calls returned (that's why I'm giving Thornton four stars), I finally got someone out to fix the valves and control board for my boiler.

Dell came out to do the work and the guy did an amazing job. He was easy to work with, knew what he was doing and answered my questions until I understood the problems and the remedies. He isn't the cheapest hot water heat guy on the Wasatch Front, but he's the one I will always call for boiler work in my home. I couldn't have been more pleased with the results! Thanks, Dell!

I really hate doing this and have never done this before, but the experience I had with this company this week needs to be shared. I have a tankless water heater that's 6 months old (not installed by this company). The water heater on occasion throws an error code that any simple google search shows that the control board is bad. I setup an appt for this company (as they were listed on the manufacturer's website as one who services these water heaters. I was told at the time of the appt setup that there would be $150 service call fee, ok fine. The part and labor is covered by the warranty. When the plumber arrived, he stated that only the part was covered by the warranty (wrong) and that labor was going to be 300 and something. In addition I was told I need to have an Expansion Tank installed, which would be an additional 300 something (I put something because I never got anything in writing). I was then charged $248 for the service call and not $150. I contacted the water heater manufacturer and they confirmed that both labor and parts are covered. They also said for my setup that an expansion take is not required (not using external circulation). But even better than that, I actually do have an expansion tank already installed (the kind meant for tankless water heaters). I tried several times to contact the company to get an explanation (and only after a weeks time did they call me back) and basically chalked it up to bad communication for the service fee and never had a good answer for the expansion tank issue. Anyway, be ware.
