competent at getting the system running, and price was reasonable, but they never should have touched this part of the ducting, then didnt go back & fix.

Absolutely disappointing on all levels! Save the frustration and look elsewhere.
We had to have our main HVAC system and our entire plumbing replaced in early 2023 and our second HVAC replaced in late 2023. All in, Nice received over $50k. You would think they would provide top notch service and we would be good to go for several years. NOPE!!!
The HVAC installed in late 2023 has now had at least 5-6 service calls because either the system shut down all together (blamed on a sensor that still wasn’t replaced) or more recently it has been 3 calls in 2 months because of no heat. On the second visit 3 weeks ago, we were told that they never connected the auxiliary heat pump so the system couldn’t provide heat once the external temp got too cold. 15 months after install they finally find this rather obvious and glaring failure on their behalf?! What did they do on the prior service calls? We were assured the system was finally fixed and we should have no more problems, yet here we are again right during the coldest, snowiest spell in quite some time.
Nice doesn’t seem to understand the problem or put much of a priority on fixing it either. Nor do they seem to care about our growing frustrations. With each call, they initially schedule us a week or more out. Only after I call asking to speak with management, point out the history of errors by Nice, and threaten to terminate my service agreement and leave do they put us on the schedule for the next available technician.
Here we go again trying to get service and finally get a new system actually working. Save yourself this headache and find a different provider, preferably one that stands by their work and provides competent service. -
Nice is not “Nice” anymore
I am posting this review to express our frustration with the failure of Nice Home Services (i.e., Heating and Air) services management (i.e., Owner Craig E.) to respond directly to our complaint letter sent two weeks ago. We have been a customer of Nice for ten years and made seven referrals to our community and neighbors who continue to use their services.
I typically don’t post reviews because I believe you should resolve conflicts directly with the management or owner. However, after 14 business days of no response, I believe consumers should be aware of their business practices prior to making important decisions.
We began receiving HVAC services in 2015. We initially purchased a new replacement air conditioning unit and 4 years later, replaced a 5 year-old heating unit. The first two years of maintenance services were unremarkable. However, after the third year, maintenance technicians always recommended additional accessory parts and services to purchase, not included in the maintenance plan. Trusting the advice of the technician, we made numerous purchases of additional accessory parts recommended in order to keep an efficient and well maintained climate in our home.
As time progressed with maintenance, the upsellng for additional services/accessories continued to persist. At one time, I was told that we will need to purchase another new replacement system for a four-year old air conditioning system that is fully functional and presented no problems.
Every maintenance service appointment was met with increasing and inflated accessory prices and delayed follow-up. After only three years of owning air conditioning equipment there has been constant talk about buying and upgrading a perfectly functional system, constant comments that “HVAC systems don’t last long” and a rotation of technicians correcting repairs of a previous technician faulty/repair errors.
The most recent and egregious incident occurred in October of 2024 when technician Colt Miller recommended the urgent need to replace of air cleaner, was verbally threatening conveying the message that technicians are commission based and “if you just want a general maintenance service with no maintenance contract, you should just pay another HVAC company for $59.00”. He further stated “we will need to replace the entire system soon for $15,000.00 ”. I told Colt to refrain from using a loud tone of voice when communicating with a customer. Subsequently, Nate, the supervisor later on the phone with him, confirmed the importance of the additional service needed. After agreeing to the additional accessory, we received no follow-up calls for days and told they never ordered the part despite the stated urgency. Further, Nice Home Services cancelled two follow-up service appointments and subsequently, had service completed weeks later by another “on call” technician. Out of frustration, an unexpected thermostat failure, and increasing time delays, we contacted another HVAC company to install a replacement thermostat in an expedited manner. The other HVAC company that replaced the thermostat said that the air cleaner accessory replacement was not needed and was classified as an additional commission-based service.
To date, we have five additional years remaining on our pre-paid Cozy maintenance contract. We were advised to make one last communication requesting a refund prior to filing a complaint with the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation and the Commonwealths Attorneys General. Our initial confidence with Nice Home Services superior service continued to deteriorate. The emotional time spent and aggravation, as an educated consumer, is no longer worth it. We will no longer continue to refer anymore neighbors and friends to their service. I will post a follow-up after my complaint is reviewed by the VA AG and the Dept of Pro &Occupation. As educated consumers, we would advise researching other HVAC companies who maintain consistent and superior services without the aggressive upsell. -
I’ve used Nice Heating and Air many times in the past and they used to have great customer service. They appear to have been bought out by another company and now you can’t make appointments online, and when you call, you get bounced around automated messages and no representative ever picks up. The automated message forces you to leave your number to save your place in line, stating they will call back you back, but instead of a call back you get a text message that says text us your question or call us. They don’t respond to texts and if you call, you start the whole process over.

No show for scheduled appointment. We scheduled an appt through Nice which was transferred to Michael Bonsby, which was transferred to a third company IAQ Medics. They couldn't give me a window for when the tech would arrive so I had to stay home from work the entire day waiting, and no one ever showed up. I called twice during the day to try to get an update and was told both times they'd have to talk to dispatch and someone would call me back. No one ever called or came over. I wasted a whole day home from work and we didn't get the service we scheduled.

Very disappointed with this company, For several years I trust Nice for maintenance and repairing without considering a second opinion . Last month my AC was not working properly, Nice technician arrived two days later and estimate around $6K for the repairing, I accepted, and sign it. I waited for one week, calling every single day to find out when the job would be performed, no return calls, just a promise that one technician named Oscar will contact, that never happened. I call My Plumber , they resolve the problem for $1k , that was a simple repair and cleaning. Nice heating and Air are scammers , I feel I was cheated for many expensive services I paid for in the past.

Been one disappointment after the next. The installation of a new A/C literally caused the largest roof leak and what’s been a 5 month process to rebuild. Careful - the name Nice is a monomer

That's right—my system is now not working. My experience with Not-So-NICE Heating and Air is one that many others may have also encountered. Upon a recommendation, I chose this company to address our heating and air needs. However, after being told I needed a new system—one that constantly required repairs—I purchased a new unit at a cost of about $15,000. That same system is not working and now I need an additional 5k worth of work. I cannot seem to get an answer on WHY?????????
The temperature is now in the 80s! This is not a system that runs 24/7, it shouldn't have needed the amount of upselling I was subjected to. My previous system, which was about seven years old, never required any extra maintenance or upgrades; it simply stopped working when it was time.
Since Not-So-NICE installed the new system, it has stopped multiple times. Not so NICE installed the new system, but shortly afterward, it began to require frequent upgrades. I kept asking the technicians, "You just installed this system; why do I need additional work?" This pattern continued for a while. I could never receive a clear answer.
Additionally, my water heater began having issues after they accessed the same room. The water heater was just over a year old, and once NICE started doing maintenance it began to have severe leaks. It was not progressive it went from not leaking to flooding the adjacent room. They don't remember but I was told I needed a new water heater the moment that they walked in and/or that it was not up to code. However, the Fairfax County inspection passed the water heater without issue.
My personal belief is that this company was sabotaging my system and water heater to keep their business going. Both items were new and should not have needed the extensive work I was told was necessary. I am without AIR with a new system and no answers on why my system is not working.
