Love living here.
Update: As a provider of 55+ homes, they pretty much decide to ignore issues that arise, even after promising to handle thing that surface later. Roofs, Driveways, finishing landscaping as they build out all seem to decline in quality the closer they get to completion. Don't get me wrong, I still low living here, although I would say to anyone considering one of their properties, inspect, professionally all along the process. Rely on no promises that are not put in writing by the developer/owner and signed as a legal document. They will throw their employees under the bus, so DO NOT rely on any employee promises. -
Was 6 weeks past contract target date. At the last minute, we only had 1 day between orientation and closing. First day in found water underneath floor planks. Flooring had to be ripped up. Loud fans and dehumidifier had to run around the clock to attempt to dry up water. 3 weeks later still cutting holes in walls looking for source of the leak. Living in these conditions has been unhealthy and overall miserable.

We are totally loving our Cornerstone home at Chickahominy Falls. Good selection of models and floor plans, and we found one that suited us beautifully. Furthermore they have created a well thought out community environment that has attracted a lot of wonderful people from near and far to make their homes here. Highly recommend considering Cornerstone for your next home build.

We definitely love our new home, especially the design, layout and wonderfully friendly people in our 55+ neighborhood. Building during COVID was definitely a challenge for the builder with materials and workforce. However, they lacked close oversight to make sure things were done with care. While I would still recommend this builder, it's with caution to carefully inspect things along the way.

We purchased home one day after they got the CO. Three days later at 6AM a roofer climes up on our upstairs roof and installs 7 boxes of roof material on a roof that only had the felt. Cornerstone knew that the roof was incomplete when they asked for the certificate of occupancy and didn’t tell county inspectors or the new new homeowners. We had no hot water for days because of their ignorance of how to hook up
Water heater. Half of our backyard had no sod or seed and straw. Both of our stair railings came loose and broke. They were reinstalled and are again loose. This shows no feeling and little or no regard for the people purchasing their homes. -
The highest praise goes to our construction manager, Mike Marceron, who kept us informed throughout the building process. We lived out of state, so every detail and every photo meant so much to us each week. He responded to our questions and specific photo requests, and he found answers from vendors to questions he couldn't answer immediately. He's a great representative of Cornerstone Homes and made us feel like we were the only homeowners in the community who needed updates.
Ina Hill, Community Sales Manager, also built a great relationship with us over the course of 4 years, since we first visited the complex. We weren't ready to move back then, but we knew we wanted to get there, and Ina was always willing to answer questions and meet with us when we were able to visit.
There's a whole team to help now that we're moved in, and we appreciate all the expertise and friendliness we've encountered. -
I have been in my new home built by Cornerstone Homes for over 4 months now. There was a delay and a few hiccups getting in which seemed to be major problems at the time. But looking back, I feel Cornerstone Homes addressed each one in a timely manner, and each one completely. I absolutely love the size and layout of our home. We are in a townhome in a group of three connected homes. Unless my neighbors are outside on their patio and we are outside on ours, I never hear anything, as the homes are seriously soundproof. The yards are small, but that is what we and most people want in a 55 and over community. I love and highly recommend Cornerstone Homes and the Chickahominy Falls Community in which we have become a part.

Buying a Cornerstone Home is one of a few of my life's regrets. My new build was 8 weeks beyond estimated date because they couldn't get a METER. I had no hot water on my third day and needed a new hot water heater on day 10. My kitchen cabinets were installed crooked. I've had water pouring in a window, water damage on my ceiling, laminate strips peeling off my "gourmet maple" cabinets revealing pressboard underneath. The wall oven Cornerstone selected died after 6 months, the cheap gas cooktop they picked is installed crooked. My hardwoods are installed sideways and also crooked. I have an 80 degree corner right when you walk in the house. Ground beetle larvae coming in, likely through cracked concrete per exterminator. My back yard is full of dips and divots. They laid sod over wood and a hunk of blacktop. The side yard is a swamp after it rains, mosquito heaven. Same execs own the HOA, my HOA fees have increased 20% ($720) from the amount claimed on the sale brochures in the less than 2 years I've lived here. This company should be named Cuts Corners. I've made some great friends here at Chickahominy Falls, but this new build Cornerstone Home is a bust. Neighbors call my house the "Practice house" because it seems like they let people that don't know how to build houses practice on mine. You don't need to believe this review, DM me, I will invite you over to see for yourself.

I love my Cornerstone Home at Barley Woods in Fredericksburg, VA. I have the Caroline model of the paired homes and I could not be happier with the layout of the plan. I particularly love the kitchen and the courtyard.

If you like to ve treated like dirt and want a cheap built house sold at a high price these are your people. I had the worst experience ever buying a house. Good luck with dealing with Teresa. No people skills at all. If you are thinking of buying from them i invite you to visit my house after 1 year warranty is up.

The WORST builder in this area. They built my house over 15 years ago and I'm still finding short cuts they took and shotty work that I have to continuevto fix. Examples -- nails in bathrooms, kitchen not galvanized so the moisture is popping out the sheetrock. Front porch posts stuck in ground and not cemented, so had to be removed because they were not stable. I could go on and on. Bottom line, if you see Emerald Homes is the builder, run in the opposite direction!

Emerald contracts out most or all of everything they do. 1 month after we moved in, our main shower upstairs started leaking into our ceiling and down through our walls. We needed to replace 1/4 of our ceiling on the living room and 1/4 of the wall and part of the wood floors. They paid for it but it was a nuisance for a couple of weeks while they repaired. Recently we found that our counter tops were installed incorrectly and we can't install backsplash without having the counter tops fixed first. Some of our hallway walls are STILL crooked...
Bryan Mohr talked to us about how great Emerald was and how they took their time on everything. How they put Craftmanship into their work. It is clear that is not true. Emerald Homes is no better than any other LOW-END home builder who cuts corners to make a quick buck. My home is ONLY in better shape because I have fixed things on my own or have hired professionals who actually do a great job to do work that I need. I'm not sorry we had this home built because we like our neighborhood, I'm sorry we listened to Bryan Mohr or ANYONE at Emerald Homes, they all fed us lines of garbage. -
I brought a 4-acre lot to Emerald Homes for building a spec home on and they did a great job with construction and included a lot of upgraded features: top level whirlpool appliances from Ferguson, dual zone Carrier HVAC from W. G. Speeks, Custom shelving/cabinetry in primary closet and generator hook up ready. Emerald cares about their product and will always do what's right.

Absolutely horrible!! These people do nothing but cut corners and try to swindle you out of your money! The entire time I was in the process of trying to get information, I felt like I was just receiving answers from ChatGPT. These people do not care about you, they only care about getting paid.

Emerald Homes built our home in the fall of 2020, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. This family-owned company delivers exceptional quality and works with some of the best vendors and professionals in the business. Having built several homes before, we can honestly say this was one of the most enjoyable and seamless experiences we’ve ever had.

Emerald Homes is fantastic to buy a home with. They will guide you through the entire buying process and have multiple representatives ready to answer questions from the time of your showing all the way to closing day & after. Their final walk throughs are very thorough and they address all questions the buyer has regarding updated technology. We love that the builder is a local business as well!
