Swimming Pool Contractor reviews in Richmond, Virginia

Paul and his whole team at Douglas Aquatics have been great to work with. In 2025 they replaced my aging liner pool with a beautiful Gunite pool with all the bells and whistles, and a very effective array of hardware and control systems. Pool sanitation and water flow all fully automated.
During construction last year and all season long, including reopening this year, Paul, his office staff and pool technicians are always very responsive to any questions and calls for help. For example, yesterday I mistakenly use expired test strips to conclude that my water chemistry was way off. Shot a text to them late in the day. They had Shawn at my house at 7am this morning. Confirmed that the pool chemistry was right on target and helped me with a couple of other questions. Service like that is rare these days. Douglas has been my pool company for 13 years. -
I highly recommend this company. Their team is knowledgeable, responsive, and consistently courteous. What sets them apart is their commitment to going beyond the basics—they take the time to ensure everything is done right and to the highest standard. It’s clear they take pride in their work and in delivering excellent service.

One your driver's almost ran me and kids off the road on 95 southbound at 3:51 on Saturday.

Douglas Aquatics does what they say they're gonna do!!..My pool looks awesome!!!..Michelle Meyer coordinated my project with expertise from start to now finish!..Realistic expectations, costs, potential pitfalls and options were discussed well in advance of beginning the job. Most importantly, Michelle and staff are ALWAYS available to answer my calls and are ALWAYS pleasant!!!..Definitely give Michelle a call if you have any pool related project in mind!

Dropped off a pool heater but did not install it. Tough to reach by phone. Won’t provide a date to finish the job. But they sent a bill, of course, without any indication whatsoever that they intend to finish the bulk of the job on a specific date. Did they ever intend to finish the job? I just want to the job finished and to pay the bill for work done. Unbelievable.

I switched my pool service to Douglas Aquatics for this summer. They have been so responsive and reliable. The technicians seem to really know what they’re doing and are thorough. Loving my experience so far!!
-
Friendly staff and helpful with all my questions... Felt comfortable and will return for my supplies!!!

We have done business with Douglas Aquatics since 2009. They do a very good job for us.
-
Staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. They have a great selection of product in inventory. Prices are competitive with everyone in Richmond area.
-
Horrible customer service, a woman named Janice got an attitude with me from the first phone call. I have no idea what their service is like because I declined setting up an appointment after such ridiculous behavior over the phone.

The lifeguards are nothing more than teenagers. We have a lot of stuff floating in our community pool because they aren't netting the pool like they are supposed to. There is also algae on the interior pool walls due to lack of cleaning.

Do not give this company your credit card!!! They add fees and will charge your card without asking crooks !!!! Stay away. They came out for 15 min charged my card 500!!!!
-
Do not use this place. They are crooks and will steal your money without doing a lick of work. Beyond disgusted that I was charged $180 and no work was done. They did not have authorization to charge us. Stay away from this place if you want honest work.
-
Poor customer service and dishonest management. Technicians would state that they placed chlorine tabs in the chlorinator and I would check that day and there were none placed. Also one of their technicians damaged a pool robotic cleaner and they refused to cover the repair costs. Avoid this company at all costs !!!!

Unfortunately I don't have a inground pool so there is little they can do for me, however I've been going for water testing for my above ground pool for the last few years and every time I go I feel very welcomed and I'm always given great advice on what to do to adjust my pool levels. I'm very happy with the advice and friendliness they give.

Great company and great employees! Janice Taylor was instrumental in winning our business. These guys know what they're doing. Highly recommend!

This summer I had Douglas Aquatics resurface an older pool with a dark color. I understood there would be a mottled effect not a solid color. However the surface is strangely streaked with large dark lines across the surface. I have looked at a number of other pools with this same color, French grey and not one of them has the discoloration that I have. I feel that my concerns have been met with a "poo poo" attitude and a dismissive explanation that this is the way it is...period. From other pools I have seen I feel I have a sloppy inferior job by a company with little regard for my satisfaction. Beware

Excellent pool company. Bernie has done a fantastic job with our pool. Could not be happier with the quality and service provided. New ownership has made a world of difference.

Needed work done on my spa, the repairs are covered under warranty. These people require a credit card and ones social security # before anyone is sent out, WHAT. What company requires someone to pay upfront and requires someones SS# to have something repaired. I called the the warranty people and they said "That is unbelievable, I have never heard of such a thing", they were shocked that was asked of me. They said not to give them any of that information, especially since they are handling the cost of repair. Stay clear of a company that ask for someones SS#, very odd to say the least.
