Their firewood doesn’t burn.
So if you feel like wasting time and money buy firewood from them.
Bought some a second time thinking the first time was a fluke. Nope, shame on me…two times with a pile of non burning wood. I am surprised nobody else has warned others of this. -
This place is where you go to get real information. It's not a big box store which is a great thing! Very knowledgeable staff and courteous. I will definitely be getting all my yard and firewood from Jack Frost. I so wish I would have found them years ago.

The garden did very well last year with their mushroom/ compost dirt mix I’ve also been elsewhere that gave me much less than what they give a good small family ran business!

I called and ordered soil over the phone Saturday 3/4/23 (50% mushroom mix and 50% top soil) I told Wanda that my husband would be coming to pick it up sunday 3/5/23. She said "ok just tell him to ask for Wanda I will be here." Service was great over the phone. My husband, who is black with thick locs gets there and ask for Wanda, He said "my wife ordered some soil...." etc...Wanda acts like she doesnt know what he is talking about as if he coming to take someone elses soil. She insisted that he call me treating him as if she didnt believe him. My husband called me and I confirmed.
Then when it became time for him to pull around and get the trailer loaded with the soil the employee he was talking to trying to be cordial letting him know he used to work there once upon a time was ignoring him, unresponsive giving off the "why are you talking to me" vibe. My husband REALLY did not like the customer service experience there we will not be purchasing anything else from Jack Frost. -
This is how you loose customers. I pulled into the parking lot before 5. I wasn't aware of the time, but as I drive in this old man was closing the gates even though it wasn't 5pm yet. And he didn't even address me or nothing. If he was closing at 5 I would have gotten out of the car faster instead of finishing my phone call. I go to the door at 5:04 and its locked. Looked inside and the man shows with his hand 5. If he really was about service, he would have stopped me at the gate and say something. Not ignore me. And maybe I would have bought what I wanted and leave quick. Since I already knew what I came for. Thanks

My husband went to get large river rock for a project we are doing in our yard. The guy who was loading the rock into the bed of our truck just rolled over on the front end loader and started dropping it into the back of our truck. Rock went bouncing everywhere and scratched the paint on our truck as well as the back window. My husband yelled for him to stop, which he did. He then proceeded a bit slower, but the damage was already done to our vehicle. When we called to notify the office what happened, their response was basically “It’s not our problem. We aren’t going to fix it. Feel free to take us to court.” They defended the employee’s actions by saying he was “seasoned.” There was absolutely no regard for his mistake and the fact that he damaged our vehicle. We will not be going back.

This company is absolutely god awful. They price everything by the hour because they aren’t intelligent enough to bid a job like a professional landscape company. They take forever because the install crew leader just stands there. They smoke on the job like chimneys. Super expensive and zero efficiency or accountability. Winesett or Earthscapes are a far better option x1000.

The landscaping designer, Ms Dedim came to our first appointment three weeks ago. When she left she gave us the impression she would email us a quote in a few days. I called Jack Frost Nursery to inquire and was told she was Unavailable and that quotes usually take some time. It has been three weeks and two emails later to her with no response. This is my first very bad impression. Why hasn’t anyone else at the nursery followed up with us, if she is not available? No I will wait to see if I get a response from this review….waiting but not for long, before I take my business elsewhere.

Went to Jack Frost today for the 2nd time in two weeks both times I was helped by a older guy , real nice professional and helpful no complaints with him . Went inside bought almost $200.00 in plants . As I walk back outside picking up all the plants I paid for and start loading them in my car the woman from inside who watched and helped me check out runs out and asks me about two plants I picked up and asked to see my receipt. If I realized at that second she was looking to see if I took something like a thief I would of unloaded all those plants and told of she can have all of it back . This was the blond haired woman who I can only assume is the manager . I just want you to know I’ll never come back here maybe YOU should keep track of the merchandise ppl are paying for in front of your face before you run out and assume someone is stealing from you .

Ordered 6 tons of fine sifted top soil to assist in redoing my lawn, was delivered piles of dirt with large amounts of concrete debri and plastic in it. Would not recommend if wanting topsoil. Would be good for contractor grade fill

We ordered a cord of split, seasoned firewood for the 2nd time. Opted for delivery and the entire process was very professional. The split wood is always well seasoned for our wood stove and the delivery driver was on time and provided a courtesy call before arriving. We will definitely give them a call again when we are in need of firewood.

First time going there to get some topsoil, there was no proper signage. I go back there and start shoveling and some guy pops up accusing me of being a thief, and when I explain that I didn't know how it worked here, he comes back the second time accusing me of being a liar. Great price on the top soil, but they don't hire quality people.

Amazing landscape division they turned my lawn into a beautiful Oasis. I would recommend them to all my friends and family and all of Hampton roads area.Thank you Jack Frost

I called Jack frost for an estimate on yard drainage. Woody arrived to give me a estimate, he was not very helpful to say the least. I had 4 other companies out prior to get competing estimates and jack frost was recommended by a friend. Woody looked around, he was not taking measurements and kept making excuses about the project it sounded like he didn't want to work and or do the job. He also mentioned how expensive it would be. I ended up just telling him that it seemed like he did not want to do the work and told him to leave. Would not use this company for anything due to the quality of personnel and the lack of work ethic. We ended up going with AMC911 for our drainage issue and they were extremely professional, knowledgeable and technical. They also guarantee their work and they were very reasonably priced. ((AS you stated below that is a blatant lie, I told woody the neighbors had already agreed that any work that needed to be done we could have access. He chose not to go over there and talk with them. Feel free to call me if you like but I in no way shape or form stopped anyone from going anywhere or doing anything. Also woody said it was not a good idea to grade since the grade would have to be so high and would cause water backup to the house. I did say I did not want to grade due to the fact that is not a long term solution and would cause other issue. To which I conferred with a civil engineer on the best options for a long term solution. was drainage basins and french drain with selective grading. ))

I purchased 2 cords of wood, delivered. What I got was an enormous pile of wood, dirt, mulch and organic debris dumped in my driveway. This is the filthiest "firewood" I have ever seen. I usually pay my gardener $25 to stack 2 cords of wood, however given the scope of the clean up effort I had to shell out $80. We have been spraying this "firewood" with water for 2 days, attempting to get some of it clean enough to bring inside.

They provide the landscaping services at my complex. The other day they threw a rock from their edger into my glass front door. The door shattered. I spoke with Beth about this. They refuse to fix the door they broke. Beth admitted they threw rocks and mud on my front porch. Had to call and email several times to try and get some help. She claims they are not responsible for damages. Just unhappy with the whole situation. They shattered my glass door and refuse to help. Beware.

They may be small and have a limited selection, but their products are of high quality. Their plants are healthy, I would say a lot more healthier than some of the other bigger kids on the block. Looking for some boulders, they didn’t have any and directed us elsewhere....we did purchase some nice looking lime/lemon trees at a very good price. Good place, will be back.

Jack Frost has the kindest owners and employees. They have gone above and beyond for their community and are happy to do so. Will be doing all of my landscaping shopping here!

This place has a great product but they will not fill a half yard of material (at least compost/soil mixture) after noon on Sunday. I had purchased 2 yards earlier in the day and came in about 145 to order a half yard to top off my last job. Despite not being busy, they refused- they did make sure to tell me I could purchase a full yard and then ask the guy the dumping in to only pour half. I get it, it's probably a money saving policy but so is taking care of your customers.

We are very happy with our new front yard! We appreciate the quality of the work, and feel it was a good value for the finished product. They transformed our flowerbeds so that the front of our house now has curb appeal with stones and colorful flowers. Very pleased with their professionalism and service!

This is a great company! I had a lot of yard clean up work to do and needed some landscaping put in around a shed we added. Linwood had wonderful ideas and at every turn made suggestions on how we could accomplish our goals in the most cost effective way. The crew that came out was professional, friendly and efficient. I feel like I have a fresh start in my yard! I plan to bring them back in the spring to put in a patio. I highly recommend them!
