Having moved into a new home late last summer, the winter was spent looking for a landscaping service that could be counted on for 5-star work in consideration of quality, value, professionalism, responsiveness and timeliness. These are hard criteria to meet in a landscaping service expected to carry the job from design to completion on a total remake of front and back yards. (There are lots of companies out there that would have you believe they meet the mark, but when you get to the bottom line, there are often problems that indicate otherwise.) So, after months of research, I finally decided to go with Olympic Landscape, basing my choice at last on the recommendation from a 5-star firm in North Seattle who did not do work in the south end. Nervous? You bet. Satisfied with the outcome? Over and above expectations. As with any major project, delays (think coronavirus, e.g.), changes and work-arounds are common. So, stay reasonably flexible and you will not be disappointed at all. The Olympic Landscape Team worked with me on all fronts and just did a brilliant job. I intend to maintain my working relationship with the company for years to come and that pretty much says it all.

I had the backflow testing done from Olympic Landscape and they said the test was failed and wanted to charge me another $350 to get it fixed. I thought something was off and it shouldn't cost this much..so I contacted a different tester to make sure and they said the previous tester did not test my backflow at all! The 2nd tester said there was no way the 1st tester could test my device and without closing the shut off valve handles which were buried in hardpan dirt. It would take years for the dirt to get that hard. Turns out the 2nd tester only need to take out the check valve and clean up the dirt inside and that helped pass the checks. So glad i contacted another tester for my backflow or else I would have gotten robbed by Olympic Landscape.

We bought a new constructed home which had a steep slope in the backyard down to the back fence which backed to a wooded greenbelt. After a year the rain in Puyallup was eroding it badly. So I called around for ideas and estimates. Jesse from Olympic took one look and knew exactly what was needed. The result was fabulous! We gained more level grassy backyard (which they seeded) and the terraced retaining wall is perfect. They went beyond our expectations in completing the job!

Last summer Olympic Landscape designed and executed the most beautiful backyard and front yard that I could have dreamed. John Sullivan conceptualized a beautiful plan, including a patio with water feature below the deck, a fire pit with a half-round of seating boulder, and a really lovely front yard. The workers were professional at all times, courteous, and talented. The foreman had the boulders in the seating area reorganized three times before he was satisfied with the arrangement. If I did have a suggestion it was incorporated in the design without a ripple. I just turned on my fountain for this year and the water was shooting up too high and two plants in one front planting bed were not doing well. Two days after I sent the email Kip was at my home and installed a regulator so that I can adjust the water flow rate whenever I want. Also, two new plants were ordered to replace the two ailing plants. I was living in California when I first looked for a landscaper to work on my Gig Harbor home. My research led me to believe that Olympic Landscape was the best. And they are.

Terrible customer service! Called in September about updating landscape lighting. Spoke with Maria who set appointment with Jesse for Oct. 13 at 1 pm. Date came and went and Jesse was a no show. I called the office fore three consecutive days after and each time was told someone would get back to me. No one ever did. Extremely unprofessional. Be advised!

We had a somewhat difficult project involving a retaining wall and steep hill in our backyard. Our goal was to have an improvement. They far exceeded our expectations, and created an exceptionally beautiful hillside, with a stone retaining wall, and steps. I didn't think it could be done, but they managed to make any ugly backyard into something beautiful. I was impressed with Joe's strait forward and honest quote, and ability to keep the project within budget and on time. Every step of the process was well communicated. I would be happy call them again for my next project.

Very poor communication. I have a pondless fountain that needed the pump repaired. Made an appt on a Monday for the tech to come between 10-12. Tech doesn’t show. I ask the company where the tech is, they tell me that he was here at 9:58 a.m. and no one answered the door, a phone call, and that our fountain was working fine. Only one problem. We have a ring doorbell and cameras all around our house. Tech was never here, and our fountain is in our BACKYARD. Appt was rescheduled for the next Wednesday. Tech will be here between 9-11. Tech doesn’t show. I talk to the office…he’s running late and should be at our house around 1:30. It’s now 4:30….no show. Choose a different company.

Update: I will leave the original review below, but since then, Olympic responded with a nice email, acknowledging their problems this past Spring/Summer. We are now using someone else, but would not be opposed to trying them again if the need arose.

Original: We have been, or should say we were, clients of Olympic Landscaping for about five years. Until this past spring, they were great. They were timely, they sent out reminders, they communicated, their crews were professional, all good. Last Spring though I believe they had some turnover, and we no longer received any information about our spring startup or backflow testing. I emailed, tried different contacts on their company page, called and left messages, with no response. I *finally* found a nice lady in I think finance(?) that was nice enough to personally ensure I had a return call. Never got the call, but did receive an email that I was scheduled for a specific day - no options or discussion, just that day. Never had a confirmation on the backflow test, though that was apparently done. This fall they never reached out for winterization as in years past, which is fine, as I'm on to someone else. First five years, five stars. Last year, 1 star.

Called for an estimate on a project at my home including a deck and irrigation system. Maria told me that they could send someone out to evaluate and provide an estimate. A man (he never gave his name even after I introduced myself) arrived late on the day scheduled and told me they no longer “really did decks” and after about 5 minutes without answering any of my questions about the sprinkler system told me I’d get an estimate in a week. I got the estimate but there’s no way I trust this company to work at my home. Still looking for another contractor.

They scheduled the winterizing of my sprinkler system real late in the season (front desk person was rude) and on the day of the appointment they cancelled and said they will be in touch that afternoon to reschedule. Two calls, one email and two days later and there was no response whatsoever. I reached out to another local landscaper who luckily did the service the same day but it looks like there is some possible damage done already to the system due to recent cold temperatures, will find out next spring I guess. They just lost a long time customer.

Scheduled an appointment and have large cement steps installed. Staff debated who should take on the task internally. They called back and presented a time and I adjusted my schedule to support. They called 4 hours prior to the time and wanted to come earlier and I could not support but I said if I can support earlier time, I will call back. The staff told me to leave a message if I could support an earlier time. I called back one hour prior to state I'm available. They called back within 5 min after my call and canceled. They requested I call back and request a new appointment a week later. I was very disappointed and very unprofessional for a first time contact.

Left a message with them to get an estimate on a project and they returned my call the same day. I was able to sit down with Autumn (she was great) at the appointed time and work things through. She listened to what my wife and I wanted and has communicated throughout the process. I would recommend this company to anyone

I hired Olympic Landscape to redo my small backyard last year. They came up with a good plan and listened to my input. The schedule ended up being accelerated and the work took the amount of time they said. The team was professional and helpful. There was one snafu that they resolved right away. I'm very happy with the result.

We have used Olympic for three major projects over the past 5 years - a huge landscape redo with a waterfall, an outdoor kitchen and deck and the most recent, a complete replacement of our old asphalt driveway and rock retaining walls with beautiful block and pavers. Jesse and team took great care to point out different options that, in the end, provided us with a much better end result than we could have ever imagined. Helpful with ideas and websites to ensure great add ons like raised beds, explained grass, gravel suggestions and care for future longevity . Tyler was great and patient and responded in timely manner when I had questions, also called with any f/u after project complete. Staff was amazing and also did f/u visit to ensure I was happy.

We recently had Olympic out to winterize our sprinkler system. We gave them a heads up that we thought we had a mainline leak in the area they were going to be working with. They found and repaired the leak, and now our checkbook will be much happier with our water bill. Everyone we worked with, from the office to the guys onsite, were professional and capable - something that isn't always easy to find these days. We'll be happy to use them in the future, and happy to recommend them.
