Home Services reviews in Seattle, Washington

CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS! I want to preface this by saying that a handful of the nursery staff are actually friendly and helpful. They cancel out the rude and disrespectful ones, if that makes any difference. And they do have a nice variety of indoor and outdoor plants, as well as all things garden related - planters, tools, soil, decor, accessories, and even gift items. These factors are what kept me a loyal customer for years until a negative experience two summers ago.
We spent a few hundred dollars at the nursery on one of our visits. When we got home, I noticed a weird charge for a plant we didn't purchase. I counted the number of actual plants we had vs the number of plants on the receipt and we were definitely charged for one extra plant. I recounted a couple more times and the results were the same. When I returned to the nursery and explained to the salesperson in the greenhouse, she was apologetic and provided great customer service. While I was there, I ended up purchasing more plants and the same salesperson rang me up. When I got home, I noticed the same strange charge on the receipt, an extra plant I didn't purchase. I counted and recounted again. I didn't think to check the receipt when I was in the store because I thought the mysterious charge was a one-off, but I was shocked to see it had happened again. When I returned to the nursery again, this time in the main building, I had the misfortune of dealing with a very rude and condescending woman at the register. I explained the strange charges to her and showed her the two receipts with the exact same mystery charges. I suggested that maybe there was a glitch in their system, not wanting to assume that customers were being overcharged intentionally. She looked at me annoyed and as she reluctantly processed the refund, she said to me with disdain, "I guess I'll have to trust you", to which I replied, "Why would I lie about a $3 charge??" My question, which wasn't rhetorical, was met with silence. The negative interaction and the implication that I was lying left me very upset. In the almost 10 years that we had shopped there, we had spent a lot of money supporting this small local business. But after being treated this way and being overcharged twice, we started going to Swansons Nursery the past two years and we are delighted with the consistently helpful and friendly staff there, as well as no issues with what we are charged.
Not surprisingly, there was another customer from two years ago who submitted a similar review of being overcharged and being treated rudely about it. Apologies for the long explanation, but to the point, check your receipts! -
This is a really awesome nursery. I have been to plant and garden shops all over the south end and I believe this is by far the best. I am basing this on their selection, their plant health, customer service, and just overall offerings. They have a big outdoor section and what was really cool was they have a really big indoor plant section with stuff for gifts and in-home gardeners. The prices seemed very fair and there were a few deals going on. Also the parking is pretty good.

I have lived in Seattle my entire life and just recently found this neighborhood nursery. Sure it’s premium cost but you get trusted variety of plants and great service.
I came in to get some low maintenance shrubs for my backyard. When the staff saw how lost and clueless I looked, Chelsey G jumped to help me out. She gave me great suggestions for evergreen shrubs and bushes. I went with her advice and we couldn’t be happier. Thanks Chelsey! -
Large nursery on California Ave and Brandon. Plenty of street parking in front of the store as well as the street behind it since the rest of the area is residential. Currently has a large selection of Christmas trees. The inside has a small cafe and plenty of plants, plant food, pots, and even some accessories. The staff was pleasant to interact with and answered all of my plant related questions.

Staff was so helpful with trying to find the best fountain for my garden. I couldn't decide between two of them, and ultimately settled on a small one. Unfortunately it ended up being a bad fit for the space. The staff and management was very understanding and worked with me to find a fair solution to swap them.
I will continue to drive out to west seattle as this is one of the better nurseries in the area. Highly recommend. -
The staff really is exceptional and kind. Lots of items you’ll need for gardening or for indoor plants. Quite a few plants are not properly cared for with browning (it’s just not as healthy as other plant stores I’ve been to in seattle). I would still highly recommend coming here to get things you need though!!

Excellent variety and a super friendly team that helps major non-gardeners like ourselves. We showed them photos of the garden and the amount of light it gets - they did their work and came up with some great suggestions.
To top it off, at the time of our purchase, they offered free delivery to the 98116 zip code. -
Great selection for the bonsai enthusiasts!! Can't wait to travel back to the Seattle area. This nursery will definitely be on our list of places to visit!

One of the best nurseries in the Seattle area! Wonderful selection, amazing staff… the prices can be a little bit high, but it’s not enough of an issue to prevent me from giving them the 5 stars they deserve.

Nice place to browse in person, but they don't answer the phone. Good luck trying to place an order over the phone for delivery. You have to leave a message and play phone tag with them.

I think every single staff member welcomed me.
They are helpful and kind.
I found a few plants here that I haven’t came across at other plant stores. 🌱❤️ -
Two stars because they exist neary home and generally have what I need. But it is always overpriced and the customer service is non-existent. They charged nearly $40 for a Melnor sprayer that I found for $17 at Fred Meyer. Yes, exactly the same model (XT451) and no it wasn't on clearance at FM.
Higher prices would be understandable if it meant knowledgeable service. But neither I nor my wife are even acknowledged when we shop here. I have gone on quiet weekday mornings when staff outnumber customers and still don't even get eye contact as employees shove past to do their tasks. Definitely no one asks if they can help me. My wife has experienced the same. Then if I try to ask for help I feel like a burden.
But yeah, they are close to home and they stock staples. So there's that. -
The Nursery had a good selection of fall plants.
Plants are nicely arranged according to type and planting time.
The staff keeps up a timely watering schedule to keep the plants healthy.
Usually no problem finding knowledgeable staff to help you and make recommendations -
Went a little plant-crazy the last time I visited. Beautiful gift shop; huge, incredible variety of plants of all growth stages, categorized by helpful care instructions on how to best keep them alive. Probably in the 90-100% range of worth-it nurseries, even if you do have to take a trip to West Seattle to make the accomplishment, which, y’know.

The Nursery is wonderful. The staff is very friendly and always available to answer questions and give the help you need. They will report plants, help you answer why your plant looks so terrible, and always do it with a smile.

I've been coming here for a decade. Such a neighborhood gem and my go to spot for nice gifts and hostess tokens. Tonight I was looking at planters and Brian was such a huge help he inspired me to finally write a review. He was patient and creative and went out of his way to help me make sure the planters will suit my garden.

Great experience here. I'm a little early in the year to visit, but they still have a good variety. Everyone was very kind and helpful. You cab order things to the nursery depending on what is available.

The lovely gentleman that sold us our wee tree said he would love to see it decorated. Our hope is he will see these pictures. We love our tiny tree.

Great selection. Happy plants. Good prices. And they potted our plant in the pot we bought which was nice.

Always a great selection of plants!
Looking forward to getting new mint varietals in the summer months. All my mints purchased from here have done great!
