Home Services reviews in Seattle, Washington

I used the service on recently. I will not use it again and would not recommend it.
1, They subcontracted the job to other companies, and communication was bad
2, They overpriced my yard size and did work on common areas which should not be done. This was due to that they never talked to me when they came and even I was at home the whole time
3, When I complained to the company, they did not address my points and just gave me the standard narrative. Basically, I am sorry, but I am not sorry stuff.
If you can, suggest to avoid this company -
I used them last year all season and they WERE great. I liked the price and the app was great. However, this year I keep being scheduled and they keep cancelling on me telling me there's no crew available. I'm an existing customer. I should get priority. Not fair. Customer service message took 4 days to get a response. Going to look elsewhere.

I have been trying to get someone to come and cut grass for a month now. They have an app that shows the service is scheduled and no one shows up.My service was rescheduled for 4 times now.I have submitted 4 different tickets in past week from the app and have not seen any response. This is the worst service provider.DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT sign up with these guys. You will be stuck calling support and the crew never shows up. Support team gave a 15$ credit for the crew not showing up for 4 weeks. It has been 4 days now and the crew still hasnt emerged. This is not a business but a sham.

What a terrible experience. We contacted LawnStarter because we had broken our lawn mower, had some vacation scheduled, and had family coming to town. We thought it might be nice not to worry about the lawn for a month or so. Fast forward four weeks and our lawn has been cut once...four weeks ago. We had multiple reschedules and cancellations for rain, and heat, and for no explanation at all. I called customer service and was on hold for over an hour two days in a row. Now our yard looks like a jungle, thanks LawnStarter. I've officially cancelled the service and deleted the app never to be used again. Don't use this service, they don't care about their customers or their business, and they certainly don't deserve yours.

They look to be subcontracting the lawn mowing to subcontractors. They were supposed to come every other week. Altogether they came 3 times. In all of those 3 times it had to be rescheduled up to a week later because whoever mowed the lawn canceled the service and they had to find a different person to mow the lawn instead. The fourth time they were not able to find a person to mow the lawn and cancelled the service altogether instead.
Completely unreliable and dependent on whether they are able to find a subcontractor willing to do the service. Looks like they can't quite often but won't tell you unless you call them several times.
When they came then 2 of the 3 different subcontracted crews did a good job but one of them left the grass quite tall even though I specified that the grass should be cut short in their app. -
First, on the website it advertised a “one time mow” option, which honestly was all I was looking for, but when I signed up I was notified that it was not an option and I had to sign up for the minimum 3 mows. Should have seen the red flag right there.
My first two mows were great, they were on time, done correctly, it was as expected. But my crew didn’t get to me for my 3rd mow. So I used to app to let them know that my crew never showed. Ezra from Lawn Starter Support claimed I would have a new crew come out the next week (6/10-6/13). They did not show. Then my previous crew reached out through the app and said they would come the next week (6/16-6/17). They did not show. So I reached out to Customer Service again and heard from KB who told me someone would come out 6/20-6/21. Surprise, nobody came out. I reached out again asking why I keep getting skipped. Charize stated I’d have a new crew come out on 6/28-6/29. Once again, nobody showed up. I decided to call to speak with someone and Luis insisted I’d have someone 7/4-7/5 (even though it’s a holiday??). I noticed nobody came on 7/4 (as anticipated) so I called today to ask where on their list I was so I knew around what time I’d be serviced today and the man on the phone (didn’t catch his name) said I didn’t even have a crew assigned to me! That was the last straw and I just cancelled.
The excuse I was given was that they have a lot of customers. If you don’t have the capacity to serve all of your customers, then you shouldn’t be taking on new customers in the first place. If I had known how swamped they were, I would have never signed up in the first place. -
This was some of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had. They provided me with conflicting schedules, and then the provider who was actually scheduled to mow my lawn completely ghosted me. They never responded tho messages through the Lawn Starter app, and then never showed up during the three day scheduling window. I called their customer service line and could never get anyone on the line. I would accept a callback in the queue, which would be anywhere from an hour to 4 hours later. When someone did call back, it was a contracted customer service rep from Detroit. They have left me hanging for a week and I now have to find another lawn service company to help. This has been an awful experience.

Heron does a great job, he is professional and knowledgeable about his job my grass looks great
-
They charged me an extra $44 for grass over 6 inches but my grass was definitely not over 6 inches. I contacted the worker who admitted it was a mistake. I waited and the charges were not refunded. I sent 2 messages to management and they ignored me. When I called them they said it was over 5 days and I couldn’t dispute it and the charges were justified even when I have evidence the worker made a mistake. This is fraud and extortion. I contacted my bank to reverse charges and it’s currently under investigation. They are dishonest and manipulative. I can’t believe I even tipped the worker $10 but I may never get my money back. Totally Disgusting. Avoid this company, there’s many other honest services out there.

Keep texting and emailing to get me to sign up, then I try to sign up and they can’t provide a quote because their system won’t generate a quote and they have no way to send someone out to actually look at the project
-
I almost never write reviews, but if I hate one thing, it’s having my time wasted. This is the most unreliable, unprofessional services I have ever subscribed to. I signed up nearly a month ago for bi-weekly mowing for my very small front and back yards. I have been no-showed 4 times, and the one time someone has actually shown up to mow my lawn, I wasn’t home (because my service kept getting rescheduled and then I was out of town) and the person only mowed my front yard. Didn’t even bother to touch the back yard despite thorough instructions (and an unlocked gate). Save yourself the hassle and hire someone reliable.

"Matt" from M & M Lawn Service (who also has a parttime gig with LawnStarter is a very hard working man!!!
But I think what stands out the most about him IS: his level of integrity; he actually DOES what he says he's going to do. And when THAT'S not humanly possible, he'll send the customer an e-mail or text with...
'Get this: WITH AN EXPLANATION OF 'WHY'!!!
THAT goes a long way with me; I'm the one who feels kind of lucky to be HIS customer, to tell you the truth.
'Keep up the good work, "Matt".

My husband had recently broke his arm and was unable to mow. I could mow but didn’t want to so we decided to just call someone. He set up an appointment with LawnStarter and we went on our merry way, being advised that a “pro” would be coming in two days. 2 days later, I was surprised to see a woman in our driveway, pulling a lawnmower out of the back of her small suv. I asked my husband and he said it must be the lawnmower “pro.” She did the front and backyard, which are not huge though it took her hours. We decided to stick with it one more time though since he was still healing. The day the “pro” was supposed to come came and went. The next day, we got a text at 6 PM letting us know the “pro” was on the way. At 8 PM, the was a knock at the door. The “pro” said she was here to mow the lawn and my husband told her to come back tomorrow since it was 8 PM. The next day, she came and mowed the front lawn but not the back. We decided we’d had enough and wanted to cancel. However, trying to cancel on the site just prompts a message that tells you to wait until you’ve had at least three mows before cancelling. A friendly reminder to all to read reviews first. Save yourself the headache and don’t do business here.

I rarely ever bother to leave a bad review but over the course of a week and a half this company provided me the worst experience I've ever had with any business in my life. I'll try and make it short and sweet. I contacted them to have my lawn mowed and after a very awkward conversation with a human being that was speaking to me in a weird scripted dialogue, I had my first service scheduled for the following Thursday. Well that day came and went and the "pro" that they assigned (they are not professionals by the way, it's any random person with a pickup truck and a lawn mower. They also do not have any of their own employees they are basically the middleman for other smaller businesses) no called no showed. I contacted customer service over the phone and through their text service and they weren't helpful in the least. The people I spoke to on the phone were clearly working from home as I could hear dogs and kids in the background and they had absolutely zero desire or knowledge whatsoever to provide any sort of reasonable service. They basically just apologized and Shrugged their shoulders. They said they would try to find me another "pro" in the next 24 to 48 hours. That never happened so I had to contact customer service again 3 days later and they finally were able to assign another "pro" to my property. 6 days after my initial scheduled service was the day the next crew was supposed to arrive at my house. Another no-call no-show. Again they say you can contact them in the app but any message I ever sent was never responded to. Again I had to contact customer service as they do not contact you at all regarding missed appointments. They basically just contract out the service to a random person and then you're on your own. After 8 days I canceled my "service" entirely. They say you can cancel it in the app but I had to call in to verify and sure enough they said it wasn't canceled on their end. Overall the entire experience was horrible and in the end I realized the entire thing felt like a big scam. Luckily I did some more searching around and found another company that came out immediately and actually shook my hand and walked my property with me and after I told them my experience with this terrible company they decided not to charge me for the overgrown grass as a courtesy.
The reviews they have on their website are absolutely fake and they hide the bad reviews. Actually look at the real Google reviews and read them and you will see that this is complete trash.
Save yourself and STAY AWAY FROM THIS "BUSINESS" -
The craziest experience ever! They hired 3 different people to come mow the grass and 2 of the companies didn’t show up or reschedule the appointment then the last company comes 4 weeks later and states that my grass was more than 9 inches in the back and charged me 127.90 to mow it without asking me or giving me the option to say no thank you?! They just charged my card and went on with there life like nothing happened smh crazyyyy no bueno I will never go back to this company again and thanks a lot

I am highly disappointed with the services that I have received from LawnStarter. I booked services with this company as I had moved into a new house with my 3 children and did not immediately have a lawn mower. The representative told me all I needed to do was complete 3 services with them. I completed the 3 services, with 2 of them the provider showing up after dark. The service was very expensive for the service I was receiving and for as small as my yard is.
My final service was on March 20. I paused the upcoming service that showed in the app while I figured out how to cancel and then canceled the services. My app showed no future services scheduled and the app showed the only option that I had was to "Activate" services. I received an email on April 11 to schedule a service, that showed me that there was in fact no future services scheduled as intended, verified in the app and went about my business.
Today to my surprise and honestly shock, someone showed up today and was mowing the lawn. I told him that we did not have services scheduled, showed him my app that there was nothing and he said he showed it on his end. He had partially done the front yard, but did not complete the back, despite him claiming he did. I asked him to leave as I was not needing his services. I was then charged for the services.
I called customer support for assistance, to figure out what was going on and how to get a refund. After 31 minutes I ended the call as the employee repeatedly regurgitated what he saw on his end, told me they would not issue a refund and refused to connect me with a supervisor. There was no effort to resolve the situation or to provide support that would have potentially resulted in a return customer or referral. I am incredibly disappointed and disgusted that this is how this business is run. It seems as though not presenting honest information on the app of what they themselves are scheduling on the company side, is a shady way of keeping people paying.
I need confirmation that my services are in fact canceled, a full refund to be issued and contact from the company. So disappointed. -
Terrible.
You will never if a pro is coming or not, the date given is actually a two day window, and even then my pro decided to be out of town one time, skipped to another time and then the pro decided not to come for a personal reason so skipped to another week, then after 2 days of not coming on their scheduled time, the pro was replaced by another pro who wants to give a long grass quote.
If this service had worked as promised, I wouldn't need the long grass quote, so I don't see how that's my job to pay for it. I think I was able to pause it (cancelling seems very difficult - shocker). This service is awful. -
My property is a mess. I signs up for LawnStarter on a Tuesday and on Friday my front yard was the best it’s looked in two years. (I’m to tired I’ll get to it tomorrow) oh and the give you a day before they take the money so you can let them know if you are unhappy about something.

I had started a service from lawn starter, but the experience was bad. The pro who came to service my Lawn had no experience of lawn care. He somehow managed to mow my lawn. He didn't even know how to edge. The other disappointment Was that they lock you for service from them by having you open an account and lock your credit card and the app automatically schedule you for biweekly service and charge your credit card. Also, the other disappointing fact is poor Communication they don't communicate with each other. I had to make four phone calls to get an issue resolved. Even after explaining them that I didn't need the Lawn mow The Pro still came in, mow my lawn and cut the grasses so short that it killed the grasses.
I don't recommend them. -
I'm very satisfied with the service I'm receiving. Nouri is thorough and pleasant. The lawn always looks excellent when he's finished.

I had two separate lawn care, maintenance professionals mow my lawn. The first was incredible. They took their time to ensure my entire lawn was mowed. They even trimmed up around the edges and even cleaned up a part of a gravel section in front that wasn’t part of my lawn. Sadly they left and I received a second lawn care professional, who only mowed a portion of my lawn during their first visit and then they never showed two weeks later on their second visit, even though they marked it as complete in the system. I requested for them to come back out and actually mow the lawn as a remedy to the issue and it got to the point where the delay and their response to the issue was aligning with the future date of another scheduled mowing clearly that second professional did not have an intent to first mow my lawn or come back or corrected and I wasn’t waiting for them to come back on their next scheduled appointment so I canceled.
