David made the best of a tough situation. A business he hired and paid to get rid of construction debris ended up dumping it in my business parking lot instead of taking it to the transfer station. He sent a truck and couple guys out and they took care of it.

Genesis Chimney Fireplace & Air Duct is a professional company. I had my chimney inspected and repaired by them, and both jobs were done quite quickly. I even received a lifetime guarantee for the work that they did, which was an added bonus.

This place and some of its contractors are a scam. Top Top Chimney Sweeps (one of said contractors) charges $500 for a “deep chimney clean” which is 10 minutes of a shopvac hose up your chimney. The gentleman did not even empty the ash trap or snake in from the roof. Save the money, go somewhere else.

Edit after response from the owner: You will notice if you sort by poor reviews that the owner's response to bad reviews is always "we couldn't find your name in our database" as if they are trying to gaslight anyone who wrote a poor review into thinking they used some other company. Perhaps you need to have the person who answers your phones actually put new clients in your database. I have in fact used your company more than once and the first time was fine. This last time was not acceptable as indicated in my original review.

Horrible project manager experience from Genesis on initial consultation and “bid”…

*can’t speak for firm, other reps and work done - didn’t move forward for clear reason

Easier than a novel, here are the bullet points:

- Water issue and PM didn’t observe issue first, went straight to outside walls and within 5min was diagnosing including a complete replacement of siding for half the house

- Once inside to look at issue spot, the quote jumped 3x because “they can’t not paint the entire ceiling if we do drywall work. We don’t believe in shotty work.” This also included very small drywall work we have in another room - I’d be shocked if total material/drywall exceeded 4sq ft of drywall.

- This PM sat at my kitchen table and wouldn’t get up until 15min after the first time I’d said “I’d like to consult my spouse on your quote before signing, easily with an answer by end of week. They’re in meetings at the moment and I don’t know when they’re finished up.”

His replies to this? As follows:

“When are they out of their meeting?” (Asked 3x)

“I can wait outside in my car, what time does their workday end?”

“If we can’t have you sign before next week then we can’t hold in the quote on the price, when can you have an answer?” (Asked 2x)

“Are you sure you need to talk to them? We need to lock this in as quickly as we can.”

I know this is sales 101, but asking someone you want to hire you by bypassing their spouse isn’t sales 101, it’s insulting.

Btw the issue has been properly identified and wasn’t anything this PM wanted to work on.

No wonder, looking from the 3rd step of a ladder for less than 2min doesn’t seem like enough for a roof issue that took a MUCH closer eye to pinpoint & started with seeing inside the house / the damage.

Management followed up to apologize and was timely in doing so. It’s appreciated to hear from someone so quickly after the fact and I hope speaks to the work they do for clients of theirs.

Benjamin, Dave and the crews at Genesis are great to work with. After two years of very unsatisfactory from a different Seattle area company, I was really glad I called Genesis. They are friendly, professional and fair. I’d recommend using them for any service they provide!

Staff was polite and professional, and we had a great time with Genesis. Genesis visited my house to look at a chimney-related problem. It was discovered to be a roofing problem, which was unfortunate, but the technician was able to offer a recommendation and did not charge for the examination. I will without a doubt use Genesis if I ever have a problem.
