We have been hiring Denny and his crew at Fresh Roots Landscaping for several years now, and we would give them 6 stars if we could. We first had them build our new backyard fence along with the retaining walls, which we have been extremely happy with. Since then, his crew has been maintaining our yards over several years. Their professionalism and quality of work are top notch. Denny is a great communicator and makes sure that you are satisfied with his work. He would send his crew back to redo the work if there is anything you are less than happy with. I don't even bother shopping around to compare the prices knowing their work is worth every single $!

Fresh Roots recently put in a fence for us, and for our neighbor. Working with Denny was so easy and we were so impressed with his willingness to work with us to stay within our budget. We have never had a contractor be so flexible and accommodating. His crew is fast and reliable too. The fence looks great and we will be using Denny in the future for other landscaping needs!

my mom is soooooo happy to have a nice lawn again....in just 1 day our grub ruined grass/clover yard transformed into a lush green carpet of beautiful grass...she's happy therefore im happy...with a lot of tlc she will enjoy it for years to come...thank you for a job well done...

We're proud that our home was an "original canvas" for Rutheo Designs. Our side yard gives us wonderful fruits and vegetables, to say nothing of the joy it brings pollinators, our front is a glorious display of native plants tall and low, wide and skinny, and guests enter our walkway from the street under a trellis that in a few more seasons will be covered with grape vines. And our backyard is our oasis, a stunning variety of spots to eat, read, chill, and let the dogs run around. We love entertaining friends in the back, for nearly half the year it effectively doubles the size of our cozy urban home.

Last June, I hired Ted and Rutheo Designs to water my garden in Seattle while I spent most of the summer away from home. I'm used to doing everything myself (except when I hire a contractor for hardscape construction), so this was kind of an experiment for me. I'm also pretty particular about the health of my plants.

Ted, and his employee Reid, were excellent and responsive communicators. That is probably the most important quality in my book. They let me know when they were watering and gave valuable feedback after watering. For example, during a heat wave in mid-summer, they suggested increasing the watering (one more time per week) to keep the plants healthy. When it rained later in the summer and September, they suggested cutting back.

I plan on re-hiring Rutheo Designs this summer when I am again away from the garden for long stretches.

One man came to prune my garden for $900. Arrived passed 10 a.m. and left by 4 p.m. Did not throw away empty pots. Did minimum of work. Would not use again

We needed to clean up our landscaping ahead of a move and Teddy made the process so easy! He provided a fair rate with a clear menu we could add or remove to get exactly what we wanted. His team completed on time, and were very professional. They even adjusted onsite when we identified new issues. For areas he couldn't help, he was helpful with trusted referrals.

We have been so lucky to get to work with Rutheo Designs on our backyard overhaul! They collaborated on a landscape plan/design with us (we had a starting point) and then executed it including advising on plants, recommending materials for various parts of the design (types of stone, types of mulch/pathway surround material, soil for raised garden beds), and engaging subcontractors for a couple of specialties (steel design and fabrication, welding, and lighting). Amazing follow-through on all of it.

Teddy and the team members are responsive and wonderful to work with--good at swapping ideas and creative brainstorming with you, and moving from there to a plan of action. We continue to work with them on regular garden maintenance and a couple of future projects. I always appreciate their advice about plants and natural pest control, and have a dreamy, pollinator-friendly backyard and the produce to show for it.
