Constraction reviews in Vancouver, Washington

So a couple of things…definitely on the higher end of pricing from what I saw, plus they wanted a huge deposit. Most contractors are stable enough to not require one or depending on the size maybe 20% max…this company wanted 50%. Ridiculous…no reasonable contractor requests this much of a down payment for something to be scheduled out 2-3 months unless (per various YouTube videos) they have issues or need the money to pay for the next job. Just wasn’t a great experience overall.

I essentially never post online reviews, but these folks are certainly worthy of one. They are the most polite, respectful, and attentive contractors I've ever had work on my house. Super competitive prices (that's how I initially chose them), and honest advice for issues/potential issues. They also were meticulous about not making a mess - even taking their shoes off every time they came inside.

Wow!! I called 3-5 chimney companies that service the Vancouver area and this company was the only company to return my calls and I couldn't be happier. Kurtis came out to just inspect our chimney, and possibly do a sweep, if needed as to not provide a service that wasn't necessary. He did exactly that! We found out about a much larger issue but still had a positive experience. We will continue to use, trust and recommend this company.

No need to look any further--Adams Chimney Specialist provides excellent service at a fair price. Rebuilt my chimney above the roofline and redid all the lower mortar joints. Gave me a detailed bid and kept me apprised of the situation as they proceeded. Even went to Chehalis to get bricks that matched my old ones! Looks like the original chimney--excellent job matching the brick pattern and mortar. Kurtis knows his stuff, and Heather is a real artist-- Watching her smooth the mortar joints was a pleasure. They worked long hours for two weeks straight--three to four people day after day in the pouring rain. Also cleaned up well when they were finished, including washing my neighbor's windows! All of the neighbors and the mailman were impressed by the job they did. Have had bad luck with contractors in the past, but finally hit the jackpot with these guys.

The crew from Adam’s were professional and completed the work in timely manner. We had our cracked clay flue tiles replaced with stainless steel. Highly recommend.

We hired Adams Chimney Specialist to demo and re-build the chimney on our 1910 historic home. The entire crew from owner to masonry team was a delight to work with. Justice and Coby performed the challenging labor with skill and professionalism. Kurtis and Heather, the owners, are absolutely the best in customer service. We are so thrilled with the work that was done, we are having our outdoor fireplace refurbished with Adams, too.

Kurtis stopped by to clean the chimney in the home we currently rent and he deserves some recognition. The service was done within a reasonable amount of time and we are extremely happy with the end result of our chimneg. He was very sweet and was very helpful and informative when we had questions on how to get the most from our fireplace. Thank you 😁

Kurtis and Heather are awesome. They took the time to explain and educate us about our chimney and fireplace and their site is informative too. Kurtis was professional, prompt, thorough and reasonably priced. We will absolutely be calling them again in the future. We appreciate them.

Kurtis and Heather were very friendly and helpful. They rebuilt my chimney and it looks great. They didn't cut any corners but took time to do it right and ensured it met my expectations. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs chimney work done.

Adams Chimney Specialist, LLC (Kurtis Adams) did a great job cleaning our chimney. He was fast and efficient, and we are very satisfied with his work. He pointed out a few issues that need to be addressed at some point in the future, but also told us what things we could do ourselves if we prefer. We will call Kurtis for all future Chimney work.

Kurtis did a great job repairing our chimney and with removing an old wood stove. We were grateful that his prices were reasonable and he was honest about what work needed to be done. He never tried to sell us extra services and he finished the work in a timely manner.

Good, honest work. I had 4 companies come out to give bids on a substantial chimney renovation. Chimcare wanted to demolish and rebuild for 4x more than the necessary repair cost🤣, one company was too flaky, Adams was competitive with the remaining bid and worked with me to eliminate a couple things to meet my budget. They were flexible while I worked through some frustrating lender/escrow issues, started and finished precisely on time, final bill was the same as the estimate(!), the workers were professional and respectful and left my patio cleaner than it was when they started. I chose Adams because I trust reviews more than advertising and I was not disappointed! They did a great job. Thanks guys!

We would highly recommend Adams Chimney. We had a project that lasted for quite some time and they were very professional and considerate of our time and space. We appreciated their excellent communication throughout our project. They did a great job!!

Very punctual, showed up right on time. They did a very thorough cleaning. During this pandemic they were considerate to wear a face covering while working inside the house. Kurtis also gave us a good rundown on things we can do to keep our flu clean and also recommended maintenance and upkeep we can do. Also their website has a lot of good information. He was very polite and did a great job. When I need to do my next cleaning or need to schedule masonry repairs for my chimney I will definitely be calling them.

Friendly guy but absolute scammer.

I paid almost $500 for bad information. I was told my chimney was incorrectly built and needs thousands of dollars of work and a partial rebuild.

Almost $500 did not include cleaning anything at all. That's an extra couple hundred bucks.

Took advantage of my lack of knowledge about masonry chimneys, scaring me to believe the whole thing is falling apart.

To top it all off, he took my money and disappeared.

Never heard back about an estimate or quote. It's been more than two weeks as of writing this.

Learn from my mistake and do not call Adams chimney.

Kurtis and Heather were an amazing team in helping us demolish an unwanted extension of the brick fireplace in our formal dinning area. Work was done well, and completed in a timely fashion. They were friendly and considerate in keeping the room as clean as possible. Kurtis was good at communicating and checking in about the work being done. We look forward to working with them again for our other brick and chimney needs, which Kurtis gave us a competent estimate for. Thank you, Adams Chimney Specialist!

Very Professional, Great Communication, Meticulous at what they do. The work was done with great care, and Kurtis was very informative about the entire process and took the utmost care with clean up as well. A TRUE PRO. I would recommend to anyone. I work with allot of contractors in Clark county and there are few as devoted to there customers happiness the way Adams Chimney Specialist is. Keep up the Great work!!!!

Prompt call-back was received from someone named Curtis, and he initially seemed congenial. However, he proceeded within a couple of minutes, to instruct that they charge $150.00 non-refundable, and 50% down! Typically, a reputable business, makes enough money, so that they DO NOT charge their customer for either of these. Curtis, stated that it was because he “valued his time.” My time……as a customer, is equally as valuable, and it was wasted on a shyster contractor, who feels entitled, because as he stated, “is certified.” I obviously, will be using someone else! I’ve NEVER been paid to show up, for a potential job! I would have rated this company with “1 star, but prompt callback raised stars to “2”. I should have checked WA State Labor and Industries and Better Business Bureau first. Lookups are attached below:

We hired another company to flash, counter flashing, tuck pointing, crown, damper. They ruined not only my chimney but also damaged the roof. Afterwards we learned they were not certified. I called Adam’s and he walked me through what needs to be done. Very helpful even when I told them that the inspection needs to be done now. Even I have to pay, it is worth it, because they really know what they are doing.

This guy is amazing! Kurtis went out of his way to help me. I recently had a horrible experience with a roofing company the broke my natural gas high wind cap on my roof. That roofer argued and said it was already like that. I had an inspector up on my roof june 22nd and took pictures and the cap wasn’t damaged. I called the owner to that roofing company and he come out and glued the cap without the louvres on it and put two plastic bags on it trapping the gas in the house.
Kurtis with Adams Chimney Specialist LLC came out and checked it on his way home from a job and went up on my roof and pulled the plastic bags off and smelled gas. The house would have filled with Carbon Monoxide and myself and the two kids would not have woke up ever. The furnace man come out to service the furnace agreed that me and the two kids would not have lived through that. Their mother would have come home to us all dead. Kurtis actually saved our lives. He brought a new cap and had it installed the next morning in about 10 minutes.
I would highly recommend this place for help.
This company has great business ethic and actually cares about people unlike the roofer that I hired and botched up the job and nearly killed us.
I called eight different places and couldn’t get anyone to take it serious.
I seriously appreciate Adam’s Chimney Specialist for helping when he didn’t have to. Kurtis is my hero and literally saved our lives.

Coby and his helper did a fantastic job with our pellet stove. They were super friendly and did great work. This is the type of family run business that will always leaves you with peace of mind. They work efficiently, are very clean and thorough.
