Quick and responsive. Did a good job cleaning up what was previously disgusting carpets. Extended the life by a couple years!

I am blown away!! I flew an heirloom oriental rug back with me from the East Coast. It was given to me when I was a teenager from my grandparents and had been in storage with a relative until the day I had my own home. It was in sorry shape—moth damage, strong smell of moth balls, dusty, rolled up for who knows how long, but it’s precious to me and I wanted to have it here in AK. I asked Scott to do what he could to restore it to the rich red I remember as a kid….and wow wow wow I am over the moon with the results. The rug is conditioned, rich and bright, so squeaky clean I could put it on my bed. Not a fiber is out of place, and indeed many are back where they should be. I’m so grateful. My grandparents would be proud of the condition of this rug. Thank you Scott and Sherry. (Photos are after shots—didn’t dare take before photos. Check out the gloss!)

We used J&S Steamway this week to clean bedroom carpets. Mike was communicative, offered to come early but I missed his call. He arrived exactly on the originally scheduled time and was thorough in his communication and work, completing the job efficiently with excellent results. I'd use J&S Steamway again!

December 2025 edit: I got two bedrooms cleaned this week and I wasn’t as pleased as I was last month. One of the bedrooms had a few spots in it that you could see, but I was confident they’d clean up. (I have very nice carpet and this brand is known for its cleanability.) One of the spots was barely noticeable- it almost looked like a shadow on the carpet. There were also three quarter sized spots. All in all, the carpet wasn’t in bad shape to start with.
I want to say that the guys who came out were very nice and professional. It looked pretty good when they left except for the 3 little quarter sized areas that he said looked like ink. The spots definitely did look like ink and I was thinking I’d have to live with them.
After the carpets were dry, they told me to vacuum them. I waited two days to vacuum and when I went into the room I was surprised to see the larger spot was now giant and very noticeable, like something had leached out of the carpet while it was drying? 😱
My husband suggested I try some regular carpet cleaning foam that we had here. I sprayed it on and the big area disappeared. Encouraged by that, I sprayed it on the “ink” areas. Came right up!
I’m just racking my brain as to why these areas would not come clean with professional equipment but I could get them up with grocery store cleaner? Also, why did the other spot get worse?
Overall, I am happy with the refresh but I’m left with a bad taste in my mouth about this cleaning.

November 2015: As I was preparing Thanksgiving dinner, the plastic bag containing all of the raw turkey juice fell off the countertop. It soaked two of my kitchen runners all the way through. We hauled them outside and left them in time-out until after the holiday when I knew I could take them to J&S. They cleaned them in under a week and they were bright and colorful like when they were new. I am very confident that they got them clean-clean!

My rugs turned out bright and clean! Scott returned them and helped place them in the rooms. He explained the process and any challenges. Very happy with this. My only issue was the pick up person that made me question my decision to have the service because of his lack of social skills. He was abrupt, hurried, and was annoyed when asked to remove his shoes. He did explain what to expect next before leaving. I received emails about the service strangely after they occurred. I would use again.

The technician arrived early after contacting us it was OK to do so. He was efficient and focused. We were a little disappointed that a few spots we had hoped would be gone are still there (although not as bad as they were). Overall, they did a good job and the carpets are looking better! We are glad we did it!

During our first 2025 big snow I called in about my appointment, Sherry took excellent care of me accommodating a new time …. And ended up perfect. Thanks you.

J&S cleaned our wool rug with care and diligence, finishing the job in less time than promised. The entire team was delightful to deal with. (Conversations were clear and cheerful!)
